Imho the idea of ‘cruelty free’ products or food shouldn’t mean that nothing died to create it, but rather that anything and anyone involved in the creation process hasn’t been exploited or harmed.
Leather is good actually. Veganism isn’t the end all be all to morality and consumption. The issue isn’t that a chicken died for those nuggets, but that while the chicken was alive, it’s life fucking sucked. Vegan chocolate means little if the cocoa that made it was gathered by child slave labor.
Factory farms, abuses of the people who pick the fruit and vegetables we eat, the focus profit and productivity over all else - that’s the fucking issue here. It’s capitalism folks.
I believe that humanity's immense love for Apollo is proof of Apollo's unwavering love for humanity
Sometimes being an ex Jehovah's Witness practising Paganism can be really hard.
I still live with my very religious JW family, as I have no choice, and occasionally I hear them talk about how we are in "the last days". They talk about all the "evidence", and it scares me. It resets everything I believe in.
In those moments I just wish I could grip on to my Gods and never let go. To know with certainty that They are real, and that I don't need to be afraid. I'm sick of being scared.
My thoughts exactly.
I wasn't raised JW, but I was raised pretty devoutly Christian. Now I'm typically very firm in my beliefs, but I still worry, mostly because of my upbringing.
Also due to my upbringing, I'm always very cautious and nervous, because I worry that someone will think I'm crazy or something. I'm scared of sharing too much or anything like that and being pushed away or brushed off or something.
People should be able to believe in their beliefs without fear or anything. It's exhausting.
I think it’s high time monotheists stop seeing polytheism as some sort of twisted version of their own faith. We do believe in what we believe, it isn’t a joke and it isn’t because we have strayed from whatever path monotheists see as the right one. Polytheism is a perfectly valid way to live one’s spirituality and we are entitled to it. Monotheism isn’t the standard. It isn’t the “right” way to believe, it is just a way to believe.
As many of you all know, today is Litha, aka the Summer Solstice
This day is seen as bittersweet by some, because it means that winter is on the way and the days are getting shorter. I, however, would like to look at things from a different point of view.
For one, there is all summer ahead of us, which holds sooo much.
Also, the darkness isn't so bad. The sun watches what you do, but the moon knows all your secrets. The darkness and light is just part of the cycle of life, so why fear one but not the other? Why not embrace it and find all the positives it has?
There is darkness in light, death in rebirth and vice versa.
Lastly, today is a day to reflect on everything that's happened since the start of the year. We're only going to keep growing and keep learning, and we'll be different people by the time the Winter Solstice rolls around. Today's a day for celebration, not mourning. It's a day to celebrate Earth and her abundance, our accomplishments, and the sun. Don't be sad about the shortening days, look on the bright side.
Happy Litha!!!
