progress post: redesign wip lalala

I had an idea for the corruption to pull a mollusk like dungeon meshi! the branches are there for extra stability trust.

This little guy is very uncoordinated when controlling the body but by itself it is a beast. nontheless brotatochip still needs a body to survive so clumsy nightmare it is!

A reason why for the lack of coordination is cause the corruption is used to being one whole thing instead of controlling multiple parts at once.

But if they were to not have a host, they would "spill" (like gaster i think) and sink back into being a concept instead of a being. The host (nightmare) is basically concentration point - a being that helps the corruption/negativity pinpoint a spot so they can form a conciousness.

I think its cool.. I love this little goober

fun fact: papyrus and sans' designs are opposites in terms of self expression! this explains the lack of papyrus' usual colours compared to sans. hes so blue hhhh

sorta wanna make an au where crossbones joins the star sanses. I meaaan hes technically a swap au so..

ok if you wanna make it angsty then think of the killer replacement comic but replace it with swap sans. then crossbones replaces swap sans?!?!?! waoh. its sorta cheesy tbh but ehhh its a fun idea.

for a non angsty version id like to think swap and crossbones would be playfully competitive in a way hehe. like "whose the better swap" sorta thing. this idea is wayy more fun imo. maybe they kiss. idk.

im just rambling at this point. hope you all like this idea leleleol

yknow how temmie is swapped with flowey in underswap and like theyre friends cause papyrus and flowey were too? (even with flowey being a mansplain manipulator bossy boss)

and like.. friends mimic eachothers speech. so like imagine swap sans mimicking temmie by saying 'hoi!' or calling gold 'muns'.... ok? ok?

im not sure if flowey/temmie would do the same and mimic their victi- i mean friends.

maybe i can make a comic or a doodle about this once i finish my other stuff.

OMFG GUYS I JUST HAD AN IDEA

you know how nightmare is the embodiment of negativity.

ok now imagine spirit boxes.

nightmare speaks similar to a spirit box as in whoever feels negative will be expressed through him. I THINK THIS IS COOL AHH

i feel like it also ties in with how his body is not his own and being a representative or embodiment of negativity

it also doesnt give him a past identity or anything like that hehe.

im soo adding this to my nightmare take

update on this:

imagine arguing with nightmare and he starts to speak back to you in YOUR voice omd.

adding onto this:

imagine nm holding someone captive and he starts to speak in the captive's voice. its a little funny tbh but also spooky you know?

but tbh im imagining this closer to spirit boxes instead of nm being able to speak consistently in different voices for long periods of time. but a blip in your loved ones voice in the middle of a speech would be scary.

Thinking about this now, I'm just wondering if theres a dream equivalent to this (not a swap au per say, more like if dream has a similar ability since he represents/embodies positivity - at the same time, he was made to be a guardian soooooo maybe not? it would be cool if he had one like everytime he laughs or cheers it would be a chorus of peoples' laughter and cheers.) heauhe.

Do you have any lore for your aus? 👀

I have ambitions on making a lore dump and comic centered around Prophecytale and Cinnabar (i should prob make a tag for him)

but for now, those are on the backburner - hic hic sob! (at least until I finish a friend's comic lalala)

But I can give you some quick descriptions

Prophecy!tale: Centered around a Cult based on the Delta Rune prophecy in Undertale

Cinnabar: As a caterpillar, they possessed a sans variant based on Ragworts (Nature!tale inspired for the host). He also has a husband hehe but thats for later wink

A Story I Don’t Tell

Mixing a bit of canon and headcanons (based off canon) here. It was never really explored how the stone felt other than that his memories of it aren’t the best. But his statue is crying in almost every comic it appears in. This can really only mean one thing, to me at least.

He was not by any means completely unconscious. And why would he be? He’s the apple, not the vessel. Only his body was turned to stone, by one final act to save his life.

And Dream’s age is 502 immediately after breaking free of stone, I just chose 515 for the story because it feels right and gives you a sense of the timeline I imagine. We don’t have a strict one in canon.

Nightmare keeps his statue with him until finally letting Neil take it back.
