Gorgeous tribute.
Wallace and Gromit had a more resolved, equitable, and satisfying service-master love story arc on screen than Nandermo.
There is something different in the way you look at me...
I also don’t know how to tell you that equating the want to have a same sex pairing to wanting porn on screen is legit like actual homophobia
This. It's a double standard, it's utterly reductive, and absolutely legit homophobia.
Moffat data ghosts and religious orders in Doctor Who episodes, now and then...
Hey, who turned out the lights?
She's a footprint in the sand and the tide is coming in.
Everywhere's a beach eventually.

i just watched the omen (1976) and while i really enjoyed it, i couldn’t stop myself from laughing at JUST how much neil and terry stole from it when writing good omens 😭😭
When we wrote the book the film The Omen was popular currency, much like Jaws or Star Wars, and people knew we were (among other things) parodying it. These days people have forgotten. It’s as if Spaceballs had gone on to have a longer media life than Star Wars.
I haven't forgotten. The name Damien still makes me feel sick, every crow I see gets a double take in case it's a eye-plucking raven, and every mirror I see, I see it fracture into murder-glass in my mind's eye.
This is what happens when you have much older siblings who leave The Omen in the VCR for you to watch alone after school when you're SEVEN.
SEVEN.
Anyway, Good Omens was therapy, book and show.
Until season 2.
I apologize if you’ve been asked this question before I’m sure you have, but how do you feel about AI in writing? One of my teachers was “writing” stories using ChatGPT then was bragging about how good they were (they were not good) and said he was going to sell them. To put aside any legal concerns in that, I’m just trying to talk him down from that because, personally, I would not enjoy dream job being taken by AI.
The poor man.
Many magazines have closed their submission portals because people thought they could send in AI-written stories.
For years I would tell people who wanted to be writers that the only way to be a writer was to write your own stories because elves would not come in the night and do it for you.
With AI, drunk plagiaristic elves who cannot actually write and would not know an idea or a sentence if it bit their little elvish arses will actually turn up and write something unpublishable for you. This is not a good thing.
you ever get tired of living but in a non-suicidal way
like everything is bad everywhere and no one has money and im tired of this cycle
i tried to explain how i was feeling like this to my drug counselor and she was like "yeah that still sounds kinda suicidal" and i could not figure out how to explain that i don't wanna die, i just like. am so so so tired of the way life is for me and all my friends and family. i'm tired of living like this but i'm gonna keep doing it bc i guess there's no other choice
I don't wanna die, I wanna go lay on a warm field under the sun and watch the clouds go by. How is this hard to understand?
I just want to spend a few days in the dim twilight between sleep and waking, but specifically the dim twilight of a Saturday morning in April.
There used to be something derisive from UK psychology/psychiatry, called “shit life syndrome” where the person isn’t actually depressed they’re just unhappy because their life objectively is terrible. Like their mental health issues would go away pretty quickly if they had friends and more money, and some support and people that weren’t being cruel to them all the time. As I unpack my own mental health, I think about that frequently, and I’m more sure that I didn’t have depression. I just was unhappy and my brain was too, that so many of my basic needs were not being met.
"I don't wanna die, but I'm not keen on living either." - Feel by Robbie Williams.
You're simply describing unhappiness. The complication is we're not allowed to feel unhappy (outside of short-term events like death, illness, or disaster) because of a culture of toxic positivity telling us we should be grateful for relative material comfort (which we mostly are) or do yoga, or pick ourselves up (as if we don't do that every day already).
It's okay, and actually extremely sane, to feel unhappy, especially if your life is a case of hamster-on-a-wheel style survival, with no end in sight to the getting-by, and the making-do. This is an absence of freedom, and there's nothing about our nature which says this is something we should be okay with. We trade freedom to meet increasingly expensive forms of shelter, sustenance, and inclusion.
A therapist might describe this as 'situational depression'. Things just being a bit or even very shit, endlessly - ultimately there's a lack of hope. This is usually brought on by fatigue, in turn brought on by the relentless cycle of getting-by. It builds and builds until it becomes its own problem. And you are likely exhausted by the patterns that hold you down.
Good news is, no matter how exhausting your life can be, how relentless the daily grind is, and however out of sight an easier or more beautiful existence may seem, absolutely nothing lasts forever.
Find your own way to recharge. Find fragments of freedom and hope. And if you really can't, fuck it. Take a nap. Be very kind to yourself. And remember this is key:
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." Source.
I don't personally trust anyone who says they've never felt like this, like just wanting to take a pause, to stop being alive for a minute so they can take an actual real breath rather than a society approved one. But then I've never been one of them.
Meditation (which comes in so many forms, not just a weird sitting silence) will absolutely help you find a well-needed freedom and rest within the day to day, but only you can find your way to the right practice for you. Because it must be the opposite of conforming, or it's just another energy drain.
Saw this today. Looks like Crowley got a new car.
Don't worry about Jim. If the show took things too far, the reviews would have said. And Vico has said Jim is happier and chatter this season.
The "trauma " is probably them acting like the killing machine they don't want to be.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate this.
If your show don't got Kate Bush in the soundtrack I don't want it.
Ineffable Fandom manifesting S3 :D.
Can I hear a wahoo for David's 50-years-old knees? :)❤
Why are his knees like this while mine sound like someone's eating hula hoops
Nina offering Aziraphale eccles cakes to calm him down instead of the WAY more obvious option of *a cup of tea* is hilarious given the history of eccles cakes...
Nina: What'll you have?
Crowley: Six shots of symbolic liberty in a big cup.
Nina: Ok. And you, Mr. Fell?
Aziraphale: What do you have that calms people down?
Nina: I sell like, I don't know, seventeen different varieties of tea here in my shop that is based in London, including several decaf and herbal varieties, and it's not just implied but is canon later on in the scene where Maggie orders some but instead of saying the most obvious thing possible to you here, which would be that I'd be happy to fetch who I believe to be an older, English gentleman a nice cup of decaf tea, I say...
Nina, cont.: And why do I say this? Well, we're in a show obsessed with food symbolism so naturally my Soho-set shop-- named after the famous rallying cry of an anti-monarchist American revolutionary as he fought to break away from the English empire whilst still being, at that moment, stuck under its thumb-- recommends, for calming purposes, the delicious little round mini-turnover bits of pastry butter and topped with sugar and filled with currants or lemon things... eccles cakes... which were banned in England in 1650 when Oliver Cromwell took over and got all puritanical and claimed they were pagan. You're stressed, Aziraphale, so instead of offering you THE MOST LOGICAL POSSIBLE THING IN THIS SHOP to calm you down-- that is, a cup of tea lol-- I will, instead, offer you the sweet treats that the crazy Nazis of history think are so good they're sweets of the devil.
Aziraphale:
Bonus hilarity related to this:
The Angel got himself locked up for eating Satan's baked goods in 1650 and made Crowley come rescue him, didn't he?
HOLY CRAP ANOTHER CONNECTION TO 1650 AND OLLIE THE CROM!!!!!!!
(I totally hadn't known that about Eccles cakes, thank you OP!)
oh no oh no
an esprit d'escalier additional thought about this
Aziraphale got himself gaoled for Eccles cakes in 1650, right? (It's sure looking that way, anyway.) So badly that Crowley made him do the Apology Dance, right?
Apparently he learned either nothing whatever or quite a lot from the experience, depending on how you wanna spin it -- because DANG if he didn't get himself gaoled AGAIN over PASTRIES in seventeen-freakin'-ninety-three. And had to do the Apology Dance. AGAIN.
I think we have just discovered the Aziraphalean equivalent of Crowley Crowleying himself.
Definitely didn't write fic called Sugar Daddy in 2019, about Aziraphale deliberately getting himself locked up in the Bastille so Crowley would rescue and admonish him (physically). Definitely not tempted to write the prequel... with added little dances.
