My reaction to Get Ready To Rampage by The Rampage from Exile Tribe!
Went hiking with Okaasan. All natural sound just to try something new and to keep that sense of tranquil that I felt as I walked through the Japanese forest ...
Today, we dressed in Yukata and learned Bon Odori dances and an old Japanese Sake drinking game (of course there was no sake involved haha) It was quite fun. Video coming soon!
Check out my visit to Akihabara!
Kon'nichiwa mina!
So, yesterday Alex and I went to Kyoto to buy a Yukata (summer time kimono, not to be mistaken with the common furisode kimono with long sleeves). We went to the Mimuro kimono shop near sanjo station. It was incredible.
The service there is so nice. One of the shop owners were so pleasant to talk to. One speaks English very well and he was also very friendly and always kept our budget in mind, despite being a business man. He showed us around the shop and once we picked out the Yukata we wanted to purchase he showed us around the upper floors where the furisode kimonos, wedding kimonos and all of the other super expensive things were. He even let us try on wedding kimonos, which were positively gorgeous by the way.
The Yukata ranged from relatively cheap (2,000 to 2,500 yen) to pretty darn expensive (18,000 yen +)
I actually bought mine on sale, so instead of paying 18,000 yen for mine, I paid 5,000 yen. I also bought geta which were about 3,500, the 2 small belts for tying the yukata robe which were about 200 yen, the obi belt which was about 4,500 yen and the decorative tie which was about 2,500 yen. All together I paid 15,700 yen which is about $121 USD.
Yeah, itās a lot of money, but when youāve always dreamed of owning something so beautiful and itās the perfect souvenir to an experience you never thought you would have, $121 is totally worth it!
Besides, I plan to work in the CIE once I get back to Columbus, and what greater way to get students interested in studying in Japan than to share my experience dressed in a yukata!
What will you do next Aliyah?? Well Iām glad you asked! I will go to Kyoto again and go hanami (cherry blossom viewing) while wearing my yukata.
Thatās all that I have to share about buying a yukata for now! Also, a video of this experience will be coming soon so stay tuned!
Jyaa mataneeeeee!
Thanks Mimuro Kimonos.
