my ambition with a tool I barely know how to use is getting me again
Since I've been lazy about csp and my Adachi Rei-volution submission, have whatever I've done so far. I see now I should've figured out a facial expression at the start given that's what's giving me the most trouble, but all I got are base lines and colours for me to shade out later
(Plus current setup reveal)
I'm currently drawing a submission for an Adachi Rei discord server and because this month's topic is steampunk I've decided to make Adachi Rei a T-Corp time collector.
Of course I am still very slow at drawing and just pirated a few days ago csp soooooo
yeah I'm taking my sweet time

Got Clip Studio Paint yesterday, gonna spend a bit of time trying to figure it out and (maybe) draw
have a little doodle in the meantime =DD
Messy Schneeb doodle I made in class
if you want to share, what’s your process for designing lcb (and also lobco, ig) ego suits? I’ve been inspired to work out some fan abnos and egos of my own, but I feel like I don’t know how to make them weird/fantastical enough to not feel like normal clothes.
i just kind of wing it lol but if it helps here's a design document i made from my own observations
(weapons also kind of follow these rules. those play much more fast and loose though; best thing i can say is that if an abnormality Has a weapon itself it'll be the ego weapon)
generally though i just... diverge from these rules and do what i want. using some of my newer abnormalities as an example
take from real life, don't be constrained to just game design rules. and have fun with it
Outfits swap!! x3
We look so cute!!
You againnnn teehee
Hey it's me!! (Your art is improving quite a bit! I'm so proudddd x3)

Drawing your Ocs at 1 am even though i have school :P
How adorable! (though, please do get sleep, your health is valuable)
A lot of people on twitter wanted me to explain how I draw expressions, so here you go
Unless you're drawing explicit realism, in my opinion, expressions should be exaggerated to some degree. If you aren't doing a 1:1 recreation, the point is to get the FEELING across. Try making the expression you want to draw and feeling how your face pinches and stretches.
Skin doesn't just "disappear" when your face moves it around --- that's where wrinkles come from! Pay attention to where your skin creases when you emote, and use it to your benefit. It's a fine line between overdoing it and underdoing it -- find your own balance.
Ultimately, every expression has a little bit of push and pull, unless your face is completely neutral (and even then, there are still some wrinkles...). Learning to think of expressions as actions and reactions is VERY helpful in learning to draw them without needing a reference, and in learning how to stylize and push expressions based on references as well!
I think a lot of people end up with stiff or unexpressive emotions in their art because they're just trying to recreate a picture instead of understanding WHY and HOW the face is moving --- and it's a tough thing that takes a while to really pick up and learn. Hopefully is helpful in showing a way of thinking about it that can influence your process and approach to emotions!!!
Also, bonus: even without the lines, the planes alone still show a LOT of emotion.
My brother randomly told me something that really made me think.
About what "Protect the youth" has become. Idk what it was like in other countries and I know that it very likely could have been stricter than it was in my country back then. But generally:
He was like "When I was 16, there were two kinds of adult content: Horror movies and explicitly depicted sexual content. The first made me have nightmares, the latter (as in what you could get in video rental stores) generally wasn't of much interest to me because it wasn't something I, as a 16 year old, could relate to. And other sexual content that was interesting (and/or helpful) WAS freely accessible. So whenever I saw an "18+" label somewhere, I just completely ignored that content because I knew it wouldn't be interesting at all to me.
But NOW, what's declared 18+ is even an excessive amount of swear words in streams! NOW, when I see an "18+" label, I don't know if it's horror movies that'll give some 16 year olds nightmares, if it's completely unrelatable porn, OR if it's educational sex ed, a 20 year old talking about their really healthy relationship with their partner (that includes intimacy), education about consent in BDSM (which affects 16 year olds as well, there's no age limit to curiosity), a live stream of wholesome musicians who happen to drink a couple of beers during kind of therapeutic talks, or simply people who aren't puritans and say "fuck" a lot! An 18+ label isn't worth anything anymore!"
And yeah... That's just it.
People who talk about body changes during their (first!) puberty are even labelled adult content. Even though puberty very much happens BEFORE adulthood. It's helpful content for minors. And it's labelled "adult" to "protect the youth".
Nothing means anything anymore.
regarding digital art
unfortunately, I don't get to do that, it's not offered as a 6th period elective. I do get to take Explorations in Art 1 tho, which after the first two classes, I am curious to see how it goes It has 4 Units 1: Drawing, of course 2: Design, I'm curious to see how it'll go 3: Photography, I'm gonna nail this, last elective was a Photo class 4: Sculpture, I loved my sculpture class in my last school (second semester 2024, when I had just moved to the us) so I think I will nail this as well Also, I haven't been drawing lately :'c, I'm gonna try getting back into it with trying to learn the thing in the first place, I'm gonna look into how head anatomy works and how to improve in general That's all, cya!!
