As a trans person, and as a person who just gives a damn about others, it makes me wildly uncomfortable. You can yell about how much of a trans ally you are, but that doesn’t erase that you are giving money and attention to someone who is actively trying to ruin trans people’s lives and any little rights they (I’m USAmerican, not from UK) had to begin with. You’re not a trans ally if you support JKR in any way, and she sees even free fan engagement as endorsing her bigotry.
Like, either drop the franchise/fandom, or get used to people blocking you and rightfully calling you anything but a trans ally.
I’m done giving the benefit of the doubt. She has been at this for years now, and I feel like, if you are someone who takes part in that fandom, that you would learn about her shitty views and policies. It’s not a secret. You are being complicit in this.
You know it's kinda insane how a male character with 3 seconds of screen time or 5 panels in a comic that gives him nothing characterization or story wise will still have a bigger fandom than a female character with double the appearances and with also a 40 times more interesting story, and instead of having fans she just dissappears from public conciousness
"Racialised" is much better than PoC but I've been leaning a lot on the concept of racial markedness. Because that allows us to make statements like "the name Jamal is racially marked in USA". Rather than saying something like "Jamal is a PoC name", a nonsense statement, saying it's racially marked in USA allows us to contrast with societies like Albania or the Arab countries where the name Jamal is ordinary, thus unmarked.
It's a concept I've kind of imported from linguistic analysis; saying a speech pattern is more or less marked does not really allow us to avoid the subject of who's doing the marking. A statement like "womens' speech is more marked in Lakota" necessitates that we understand that it's the Lakota who are marking womens' speech. A foreigner can't tell the difference and probably doesn't understand why it would thus be weird to see a man using speech patterns associated with women, in the same way an Albanian wouldn't understand why USA people would think Jamal is a Black name.
You! You get it. In my view, if someone is saying "racialised" or "racially marked" without acknowledgement of context, they are doing it in a way that is gramatically incorrect.

just reblogged a post that said that anakin is always pissy because his robes are so big. like you can't even see his hands. and my honest first thought was "i bet obi-wan gave him robes that didn't fit on purpose." unlike my other anakin rambles, this is fully headcanon, but it really does feel on-brand.
if you like obi-wan, this is not the post you're looking for. move along. also, if you know lore about how jedi get their robes, cool. i don't care about canon, and i am especially uninterested in hearing all the reasons that my headcanon is invalid.
when anakin is little, obi-wan just gets his robes for him, even though that's something masters and apprentices usually do together. obi-wan doesn't understand the sentimentality of it, and it only takes a day or two for him to regret the promise he made qui-gon. he doesn't bring up the options to anakin at all. he just shows up with robes because this kid won't know any different. it turns out the robes are too big, but he acts like he doesn't notice. he assumes that if it really bothered anakin, he would say something, and he certainly doesn't want to spend time and energy returning them. ani doesn't say anything, not because it doesn't bother him, but because he doesn't want to be a problem.
the other padawans' robes are more neatly tucked in and fit naturally. he tries to get his to look the same, but he can't quite figure it out. he trips a lot and his sleeves keep falling over his hands and getting singed on his lightsaber, which frustrates him. he gets lectured for not controlling his temper. when he's with kids his age, they're more advanced, but when he's with kids at his skill level, they're much younger. he stands out no matter what. and in the same way that adults usually know which kids are neurodivergent and decide not to bring it up, the jedi masters are all aware that his robes are too big, but no one says anything. no one helps him. that's not their job. "if he wanted help, he would ask," they tell themselves. it never occurs to them that he feels absolutely terrified to bring it up and that his mentor is neglecting him. adults are assholes like that. it's just another way he doesn't fit, but he wants it too badly to give up.
when he outgrows those robes, it would take him a while to work up the nerve to say anything. in some half-attentive comment, obi-wan would say "we all go to ____." anakin would be like "okay thanks" and then realize once he left the room that he doesn't know where that is. but he'd rather figure it out on his own than ask obi-wan another stupid question. he ends up asking someone on the street, and they happily direct him where to go. it's much less terrifying, and he walks away not only relieved but confused that this stranger wasn't annoyed by him.
i imagine it's a simple little shop on coruscant. jedi robes don't seem special enough to warrant a space tailor or some other bullshit. it's a small, modest place, and he's an awkward teenager who went from having the clothes a slave would wear to the limited wardrobe of a jedi. right now, he really wants to prove himself, so he doesn't ask for help, especially because he's nervous that they're going to ask him for money. he doesn't have any. he assumes it will work like most places where being a jedi means it's taken care of through some predetermined deal, but his heart is thumping staring at all the options and sizes. he panics and just grabs something. when he tries it on later, of course they're too big, but he's too embarrassed to take it back. obi-wan will make fun of him or make him feel stupid if he says anything, so he tries to find something to like about it. he decides that it's comforting to drown in the fabric. it's like being wrapped in a big blanket, the only warmth he gets anymore.
by revenge of the sith, anakin knows that his master only ever tolerated him. he's acknowledged within himself that obi-wan treated him unfairly. he wonders if obi-wan got him oversized robes on purpose. he'll never really know, and if he asked, he'd be met with denial, even bewilderment at the suggestion. but he suspects it. obi-wan was always passive aggressive, especially when he was really feeling resentful.
revenge of the sith anakin is petty (well-deserved). he makes sure his robes are still too big, partially because he likes the dramatic effect, and partially so that obi-wan won't be able to forget. now that anakin isn't underneath him, his former master wants to pretend they're friends. he goes along with it. hell, he feels it too sometimes, the lingering attachment to the only person he was allowed to be close to, to someone he put on a pedestal the second they met. but he wants obi-wan to be reminded of all the shitty ways he treated a literal child who wanted nothing more than to learn from him, who was forced to put up with all of his bullshit. he wants him to know that they both know the kind of person he really is, even though obi-wan never gives him the respect of apologizing for any of it.
but it still annoys him, makes him feel like a clown in front of the council. he scolds himself for being so stubborn and prideful over a suspicion he doesn't want to believe. if he told anyone, they'd call him paranoid, but they weren't obi-wan's apprentice. they didn't catch the small smile behind his hand when anakin messed up training with someone else. they didn't bear the brunt of his regret. obi-wan always treated anakin like he wasn't supposed to be there. this would just be another way he tried to get that lesson to stick, like he was baiting him to quit. anakin's jaw sets as he sits next to his former master, but he's secretly glad his robes are too big in this moment so that he can hide his clenched fists.

by virtue of being made up constructs everything about fictional characters only exists as far as what is told about them, and yet underdeveloped male characters are assumed to have rich inner lives that the writer have simply not tapped into - when they actually did not give them any - and it's therefore up to fans to rescue the character from the writer's assumed negligence and explore him themselves through headcanon-ing the shit outta them picking up small bits of characterization and expanding from it, whereas female characters are taken at extreme face value: if the writer did not give them an inner life then she doesn't have one period, even within the universe of the story where everyone is a living breathing person, and it's not worth exploring. even when the small bits of context and characterization about her insinuate something interesting about inner world and leave room to spin an interesting backstory and motivations there seems to be no interest in fandom to do so.
and 9 times out of 10 this only applies to the white male characters. black and brown male characters are assumed to be as shallowly written and imagined as all female characters are, sometimes even when the show DOES depict their rich inner life.

Basic feminism doesn't account for the men who have uteruses. A large part of women's oppression is about their uteri and how it supposedly makes them inferior to men.
No that doesn't mean women who don't have uteruses aren't oppressed by misogyny (having a uterus as a women is a damned if you do damned if you don't situation) but reproductive rights have always been a large part of feminism.
That's why we don't need basic feminism, we need intersectional feminism that takes into account men who have uteruses and women who don't and acknowledges the material conditions of both groups.
It's been said before and I'll say it again
"Basic feminism" is just "basic biology" all over again.
