Sakura’s birthday was in a few days and that was the reason behind why he was a grown man reading through a children’s story book and finding it rather amusing. She’d grown to follow in his shoes in a number of ways - her love for books and writing being one of those and who would he be if he didn’t encourage that creative side? And her birthday was the perfect excuse for a party so the others should be rather excited about this weekend too. There was a lot of planning to be done but if he stuck to Kunikida’s crazy schedule, he might just about manage to pull it off.
It was a small store on one of the main streets of the city, which may be as to why he hadn’t felt the need to be on guard - his ability would alert him to any possible dangers anyway - yet he’d jumped a little as he heard the book dropping nearby, glancing towards the stranger in black who’d bent over to retrieve it. He certainly was someone who stood out like a sore thumb but it took a few seconds longer before he realised just where he’d seen his face before. Great.
He should just leave - but then again he was now worried about just why the head of the Port Mafia was in a small book store alone like this. Maybe it’d be better if he attempted to rush his visit? Well, this was going to eat into Kunikida’s schedule but he’d make up for loss time with the knowledge that this blessed location was still intact.
“Looking for anything in particular? I come here a lot “
The intense gaze coming from the taller man got him a bit surprised, but he tried his best to keep his usual mask on; not letting the man he once called friend know his emotions right now. The man in black smiled gently at the other kindness, ah...after all, Odasaku was a good man.
"oh, I was looking for an old novel --- I wanted to read a long time ago." he says looking at the book he had now in his hands, the one that accidentally fell from the shalf. The brunetted tried to look for words, anything to try to keep the other man around him, but his mind was telling him to stand back and go back to the base.
After all, it was dangerous for him to be outside and without any of his men looking for him. It could take for a second for the enemy to try to shoot him directly in the head. But he was tired, tired to hide and not be able to act like a normal young man, with interest as such, in this case, to read a good book.
You haven’t changed at all, have you...Odasaku?
"You probably are a occupied man but still, came here to buy a fairytale for a kid, that’s really so kind of you." he said with a smile as he noticed that Oda was exactly looking in the children's section of the bookstore.
Oda's children were really so lucky, the man has always cared so much for the orphans.
