The other piece I decided to post, this one I just wrote on a whim and I like it, might do more in specifically this story, a Modern AU where Blake and Yang start dating after meeting a party of a mutual friend (Right now it’s Zinnea’s birthday party, might change in the future). This one was inspired by Subtact’s Friends, which is still one my favorite Subtact songs and was part of the reason I wrote this in the first place.

Midwinter hasn’t been a happy time for Leonard in a long time.

Merry Christmas guys, a little present to all those people who are still following Scattered Petals, and before you ask, no, you didn’t miss me finish Volume 3...I just haven’t been very motivated to finish it right now, I promise I’ll get back on it soon, and hopefully have as much of Volume 4/5 finished by the time 6 hits next year.

Ruby Rose: So why are we going to Elizabeth’s house?

Leonard Thorn: You know what today is, right?

Lie Ren: It’s October 31st.

Nora Valkryie: *cheers* Hallow’s Eve!

Leonard: *rolls eyes* Yea, I guess, anyways, Since everyone is busy, Elizabeth’s parents offered for us to spend the day at their house, a little party since with everything you six have gone through, you could use an actual day of relaxation.

Weiss Schnee: And what is that suppose to mean?

Yang Xiao Long: *chuckles* I think you’re proving his point there, Weiss.

Jaune Arc: We have been pushing ourselves hard recently, and the stress of other things hasn’t helped.

Elizabeth Pavlichenko: Janus has been better after he got the full story. You guys shouldn’t take it too hard, it’s his family we’re talking about.

Jaune: *sighs* You’re right.

Leonard: *looks at everyone* Seriously though, you guys do realize what else is today, I mean, someone should’ve noticed.

RNJR, Weiss, and Yang: *confused looks*

Leonard: *sighs* I mean, I don’t expect most of you know, but seriously Yang, you of all people should know what today is, and if you don’t, someone should’ve reminded by now.

Yang: *shrugs*

Leonard: Unbelievable. *sighs* Anyways, we’re here, Ruby you want to go first.

Ruby: *Shrugs and opens the door*

SNOW, JOLT, BZ, and Elizabeth’s Family: Surprise!!!

Ruby: *screams and jumps back*

Leonard: And that’s why we asked you to leave your weapons at home, Happy Birthday, Little Rose.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while guys, it’s just I’ve been dealing with pseudo-writer’s block, I haven’t had much motivation to write, but honestly, that’s the small part, I just got idea overload, like a bunch of stories I want to write, but I want to at least get through Volume 4 before I start writing them because I want to be caught up. 

Look, to put it in perspective, here’s a list of everything I want to write:

The Sweetest Addiction; A Modern AU story involving Leonard as a drug addict.

The Oath; A more canon Reunion fic that involves something I really hope happens in the main show, the main characters taking an oath to avenge the deaths at Beacon.

To Love Death; A series involving an AU where Leonard and the major Faunas heroes end up on the other side of the war.

Her Electric Heart; Something for if RWBY doesn't somehow revive Penny in the next 3 seasons, definitely going to involve Nuts&Dolts.

Sin: Sort of a eventual Future Fic, inspired by @weissrose just because I love Surrender and Loyalty so much and I want to do something cool that involving his changes and a disbanded White Fang that comes back as a full on terrorist group.

Grimm Labyrinthia: A Future Fic set in my own AU, an simple mission leads to dimension hopping to a few AU’s, most likely including @ask-beacons-finest Grimm Future AU.

The Alchemist, The Archer, and the Amalgam; Dark Fairy Tale story set in the universe of Golden Beauty, Black Beast.

Look, that eight freaking stories, I got an overload, I’m at least going to get the start of The Oath down before Volume 5 starts, but seriously, this is just what I have right now for ideas. Who knows what might happen in the future.

Volume 3 Short: Shipped With Care

Leonard: I see what you’re saying with most of them, but really those two.

Samantha: Leonard, Natalia and I have been with them for almost 5 months them, the spark is there, they’re just...nervous, besides Perseis agrees with me on this one.

L: *Glances at Perseis Corsair, who just nods* Fine, I just don’t understand, Orion hates the Schnee family, or at least what her father’s corruption did to it, I’m still surprised that he decided to put up with her as his partner.

Perseis: She’s a good person, she’s just got a lot of bad blood...just because a person’s family is a certain way, it doesn’t mean they are, if she truly was like her father, she wouldn’t be here, now would she? 

L: *Sighs* Alright, but I still don’t understand what he sees in her. 

S: She’s more her grandfather than her father, even though the latter tried to rip that part out of her, by any means necessary.

L: You sound like you know more about this than you want to let on. 

S: My family use to close with Weiss’s, my dad says we cut ties shortly after Weiss’s father took over, I still keep in touch with a couple people in the manor.

P: ...Uh, so back to the topic at hand, I really think Orion and Weiss could work out, just needs a bit of a push. 

L: *Points at Samantha* You’re in charge of that, I told myself I would not get involved with this unless necessary.

P: But isn’t the fun part seeing it all work out. 

L: Perseis, as much as I want to see them all happy and stuff, we got a tournament and other, more pressing, concerns in our future, I’ve just been nervous something going to go down after that night at the docks, and the attack this week only proves that something’s coming. It’s just got me on edge. What’s the phrase, ‘ship with care’, that’s what I’m trying to do here.

P: Alright, I just hope you know that I’m labeling all of them as UST until further notice.

*Leonard and Samantha look at each other*

L: Do we even want to know?

P: If you’re ever in Mistral, go talk to Robin Lincoln about it, maybe Irving and Nyssa will finally have worked things out by the time you meet them.

S: ...Ok, so we’re all in agreement on this though.

L: For the most part, I just don’t think Blake and Zinnea will end up happening anytime soon.

P: And what makes you so certain? 

L: Blake, my team leader is very reserved, but every kind of look I’ve seen her throw at Z, I’ve also seen her throw at Sun...She’s just confusing, not to mention the fact that we still know almost nothing about her past. She’s an enigma and it’s equal parts intriguing and annoying, we all want to get to know her better, but she refuses to talk about her past too in-depth, a piece here, a tidbit there, but besides the night at the docks, nothing major. 

S: *Sighs* Well, it’s the best we got. Thanks for the help Perseis. 

P: Oh shush, you know how much I enjoy playing matchmaker. Good luck, you guys are going to need it.

Volume 3 is continuing, slowly, mostly because I haven’t been feeling into it recently, sorry.

“Explain again why we’re doing this,” Zinnea asked, the dragon Faunas had been filled with nervous energy for the past three days, watching the other ‘placement’ rounds go down, Vale, being the host city was last on the list. They all knew what they were getting into, but it didn’t make the tension coursing through Zinnea’s body lessen any. “They explained to us at least twice today, Z,” Blake said, “It’s to see how we handle ourselves against non-human combatants.” “So Grimm,” Zinnea said plainly. “Not like there’s much else,” Leonard joked, “Besides, whoever gets highest points in their placement round gets to choose the music for each round they go into. I just want to be able to fight to our music.” “Oobleck said points are based on completion time, aura levels, and…sync with music,” Elizabeth explained, getting a little confused on the last one. “Port said if a team finishes their fight as the song finishes, they get bonus points or something like that,” Leonard said, “Personally, I just want to see if it’s possible, not a single team has been able to do it.” “Speaking of which,” Blake started, curious on what she was going to be working with, “What do we have for our song?” She looked at Zinnea, who had been arguing and discussing with Leonard the week before on what they were going to do about music if they got a high score. “Don’t look at me,” the dragon Faunas said, hands up in ‘defeat’, “Leonard won our bet, he got first choice.” “Bet,” Blake asked, confused. “Your partner has horrible luck when it comes to rock-paper-scissors,” Leonard chuckled. “You two played rock-paper-scissors to determine this,” Blake shouted, her voice echoing across the currently empty locker room they were in. “They did,” Elizabeth said deadpan, “I had to referee.” Blake groaned as an announcement came over the speakers, “Team BLZE to the staging platform. Repeat, Team BLZE to the staging platform.” “Also, Blake,” Leonard said, getting his leader’s attention, “The song I chose, it’s Snavs, Into the Wild.” “Doesn’t that seem a little on the nose,” Zinnea asked. “Considering we’re going up against Grimm, I thought it was thematic,” Leonard argued.

Hey, I don't know what kind of music you listen to, but I want to find out if more people have this happen to them. Do you ever listen to a song and have this moment of 'I can see this being about (someone from RWBY)'? I'm asking because I keep having it happen with Ken Ashcorp's 'Wear' and I just keep seeing the song as almost being about Weiss, and i just want to know if this is just a me thing, or has it happened with you too?

Definitely not just you. Happens to me with songs, and with other shows I watch or movies I see. Even just locations and photographs. I took a picture of a coast side restaurant to use as a reference for an AU fic that I want to write. With writing, everything is potential story fodder lol
