"Silver like the streams in the Room of a Thousand Fountains on Coruscant"
"These blades often belong to Jedi who are sworn defenders of peace and justice in the galaxy. Silver is a symbol of purity, and those who wield these lightsabers are known for their unwavering dedication to upholding the Jedi Code."
Even through the loss of his connection to the Force and search to find his way in the galaxy without it, Kartaelin still held closely to the Jedi Code, only relaxing his discipline more than five years later and returning to it fully when he regained the ability to feel and manipulate the Force again. It was his strong belief in the duty of the Jedi to protect those who could not protect themselves that drove him to follow Revan to war. He believed that with their connection to the Force, the Jedi had a duty to protect the people of the Republic and beyond. When he finds himself falling for Atton, he struggles greatly with the idea that it might mean breaking the code to pursue a deeper relationship.

Violet marks the opening of Kartaelin's eyes to the horrors of the Mandalorian Wars. When faced with the decision and consequences of building and activating the Mass Shadow Generator at Malachor, he fell to his knees feeling the terror and death of thousands caused by his command. Where most involved turned from the light, he was determined to make amends for what transpired, even though the Jedi Council condemned him and he lost his connection to the Force. He finds strength and focus in the love he has for others, particularly Atton.

Kartaelin is an artisan among the Jedi. He chose to follow the balanced path of the Jedi Sentinel during his studies and training at the Enclave. This class allowed him to balance his physical prowess with his more intellectual and philisophical side, but also allowed him to focus on skills beyond the usual study of most Jedi. While the most practical skills he developed were computer and repair skills, he also developed artistic skills for craftsmanship. His focus while crafting would double as meditation, especially during long interstellar flights. While his sabers may have started out plain, he used the time during hyperspace travel to design and etch the hilts into beautiful pieces of art.
