lemme tell yall, my mom came to america when she was around 4 y/o and went to school in america and the white kids made jokes about her name becus her name was MyDung. when she was old enough she changed her legal name to a more “acceptable” one becus she was afraid it wouldnt b seen professional in america. she was too embarrassed to say her name out loud. when she did have to, she’d say it quietly. ever since i was a kid i would notice her behavior when ppl asked her name. so yeah fuckin SHOUTOUT to vietnamese kids w/ vietnamese names who get teased, yall amazing

Alright, this post has been going around and I think it’s high time for a lesson in Vietnamese. People who tease foreigners about their names, sit the fuck down and let me show you what those names mean.

_ “Phúc” (Phuc) means phúc đức, phúc hậu, hạnh phúc - kindness, merit and happiness.  _ “Đam”, “Đàm” (Dam) mean yên tĩnh, yên lòng, an tâm - tranquility, calmness, relief. _ “Bích” (Bich) means ngọc bích, ngọc lục bảo - emerald, jade (can be understood as both the color and the precious gemstones). _ “Sơn” (Son) means núi, mạnh mẽ và uy nghiêm như núi - mountains, as strong and majestic as the mountains. _ “Đạt” (Dat) means thành đạt, vẻ vang - success, honor, glory. _ “Nga” (Nga) means xinh đẹp, tốt đẹp - beauty, kindness. _ “Đông” (Dong) means mùa đông, hướng đông - winter, East. _ “Dũng” (Dung) means dũng mãnh, anh dũng - strength, power, bravery. _ “Dung” (Dung) means xinh đẹp, yêu kiều - beauty, elegance, grace.

Can you see it? Can you see how beautiful these names are? And you dare compare them to your vulgar profanities?

Names are extremely important in Vietnamese culture. They represent the virtues, qualities, characteristics that parents want their children to possess. They represent the hopes and dreams of Vietnamese parents. THEY REPRESENT A VERY HUMAN BEING.

WHEN YOU TEASE SOMEONE ABOUT THEIR NAME, YOU ARE NOT ONLY INSULTING THEM, YOU ARE MAKING THEM ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES, OF THEIR OWN NAME AND THEIR OWN LANGUAGE, EVEN THEIR OWN ORIGIN.

DO NOT MAKE FUN OF OUR PEOPLE, DO NOT MAKE FUN OF OUR LANGUAGE AND DO NOT MAKE FUN OF OUR CULTURE.

Sì, mi son fatta coraggio qualche sera fa e ho letto il manga! Non mi oso guardare l’anime perché mi farei impressionare dai suoni, però ho letto il manga. E mi è piaciuto. Molto. Aspetto di vedere come si evolvono le cose..

All’inizio facevo fatica a vedere Haise come Kaneki, però con gli ultimi capitoli ha trovato un posto nel mio povero cuore ferito. Parte del merito va anche a quella fanfiction che hai rebloggato, “And in the darkness, I found you”… Stupenda!

Tutti i personaggi mi sono cari, a parte quel bastardo di Jason.

Mi sono piaciuti moltissimo Kaneki, Hide, Amon e Arima!

Curioso che il manga non ti abbia fatto impressione, io lo trovo decisamente molto più splatter dell’ultra censurato anime, con tutte quelle scene a fondo nero e urla di sottofondo ma beh, meglio così ‘-’ Il manga è mille volte meglio! Haise e Kaneki sono i miei tesori <3 Io tuttora li vedo come due personalità separate e autonome (e non so scegliere quale mi piaccia di più!), anche se probabilmente alla fine li vedremo cooperare e coesistere proprio come in quella bellissima fic. I sure hope so. Comunque, se ti dovessi dire quali sono i miei pg preferiti dovrei srotolare un papiro, ma penso che da questo sideblog si capisca… Sono leggermente fissata con questo fandom, si nota?  ps: Arima??! Tradimento! Io credo di non averlo ancora perdonato per il V14…

Lmao Ho sentito dire che l'anime è censurato e che il finale è diverso, ma preferisco il manga all'anime perché riesco a mantenermi più distaccata solo guardando i disegni, senza sentire le urla, i gorgoglii e i vari suoni carini quando qualche osso si spezza o qualche testa viene mozzata. Meh, per dirla in parole semplici questa sono io che si nasconde dietro un dito *laughs nervously*

Anche io penso siano due personalità separate. Le loro vite sono costruite su memorie e criteri diversi. Spero davvero però che alla fine riescano a coesistere, sarei davvero triste se una di loro scomparisse! Il finale in cui Kaneki viene praticamente ucciso mi ha lasciata a bocca aperta. Non me l'aspettavo sinceramente, anche se invece prevedevo che avrebbe avuto presto un enorme breakdown. Il Kaneki gentile e premuroso è sepolto sotto i ghoul che ha assimilato, ricordo indelebile di ciò che era, ricordo che lo mette in crisi perché prova di un'umanità questionabile. La sua figura di metà umano e metà ghoul dovrebbe dimostrare che si può far combaciare i due opposti... Eppure, lo sa anche lui che il più forte finisce per mangiare il più debole.

Si nota che sei innamorata persa di Hide! E del fandom. Ma nessuno può dirsi diverso da te credo XD

P.s.: Arima mi affascina. Trovo misterioso come Kaneki sia immediatamente colpito dalla sua esistenza e strano come lui abbia deciso di "riportarlo a nuova vita", mostrandosi anche affezionato a Haise. Aspetto di vedere come sono andate veramente le cose per capire se effettivamente come alcuni dicono Arima è puramente l'owner di Haise\Kaneki o se ha sentito davvero qualcosa (qualsiasi cosa) per Kaneki.
