I’m more than a little concerned at seeing recommended tumblr communities with names like “queer teens” or “nonbinary teens” and advertising themselves as a space for teenagers as young as 13 to make friends with each other. I don’t wanna sound like anyone’s dad here, but this is… not safe. Anyone can join those communities, they’re not private unless you make it private. You can’t trust that everyone in there is actually a teenager, so please don’t advertise your age or other people’s ages like that in online spaces. You can absolutely make private communities or discord servers with trusted friends, but not public communities that anyone can join, especially if those communities are specifically targeted at marginalised— and therefore vulnerable— teenagers.

Seeing people I know and like using AI is making me understand the protagonists of those old time sci fi dystopia's.

You lived on this planet for decades, you know what you like, there are hundreds of websites where you can type into any search engine " things to do in [area]" and have at least a hundred different options.

"Oh I only use it so I can figure out what to make during the week with what I have"

The most popular website as you type in "recipes" into google have sections where you click dinner- quick and easy and those usually rely on staples + 1 or 2 items. I found 30 recipes on chicken alone.

"I had a writing idea, so I typed a few sentences into Chat GPT and I was able to write 20 pages with it."

Coping with how hard I fell back into Sherlock Holmes media

(i have books that i might read. My new fav podcasts are Sherlock & Co and Fawx & Stallion. I watched Moriarty the Patriot. I watched Young Sherlock. Ive watched all the Enola Holmes movies. I watched BBC Sherlock. Im writing my own thingy that will never see the light of day?? Im desperately looking for a full playthrough of Frogwares Sherlock games. Im considering BUYING some of those games and I rarely ever play games. Ive scrolled on tumblr for actual hours looking at Sherlock related posts.)

by finally starting One Piece. Yeah. Gonna be bouncing between my twenty different Sherlock Holmes media and the longest anime I know of. Literally the only two things ill be consuming this summer (i say, knowing i will not finish One Piece in the summer and that my brain will continue turning Sherlock Holmes around in my head like Apollo Justice has to inspect objects). Gonna be a long... Couple of years. Decades? Time.

july is disability pride month! this piece is actually two pieces - the background was an assignment i received a failing grade on in sophomore year of high school, because my lines were not neat. my teacher told me i must have done a poor job on purpose, that i clearly didn't try, and told me this after i explained that i have hand tremors and definitely can't paint anything close to a perfectly straight line.

the canvas has sat at the bottom of a pile for a few years, face down with my embarrassment, while i put nearly everything else i make up on the walls. i still remember these words so clearly, the implication that it wasn't really that "nobody" at all's hands were shaky, but "nobody (who belongs here, in this art class, in art at all)"'s hands were. so, i decided to paint those words, and appreciate how wobbly the letters would be, even with my guidelines. that's how it is!

Don’t try to guilt people by saying “I’m sorry I fucking suck.” “I’m sorry I’m just the worst and I should die” Because thats not an apology, thats trying to guilt the other person into dropping the subject.

Yup.  That’s called Weaponized Remorse.  Basically, you’re avoiding accountability by blowing up a big Feelings Bomb at the person you hurt and going “let’s not focus on what I did or what I should do to make amends, let’s focus on how awful I feel about it all, and how you should make me feel better.”

It’s really easy to accidentally learn to apologize like this, especially when you have mental health issues that mean you genuinely feel that way about yourself. You aren’t a bad person if this has become a habit, but you can help other people AND yourself by apologizing differently!

Try to focus on your actions rather than your traits:

E.g. “I’m sorry I keep ghosting you, I’m shit at friendships” –> “I’m sorry I keep ghosting you, I’m really struggling to keep up with my friends right now”

Then, if you can, turn the conversation back to the other person - you’re apologising because their feelings matter to you, so show that.

E.g. “I don’t mean to - our friendship means a lit to me, and I know it must make it seem like I don’t care.”

This gives the other person an opportunity to express their own experience so you can talk it over more if they want to, without skipping ahead to reassuring you that the relationship isn’t broken.
