Guest Mixtape: The Weeks
In preparation for there show at Lincoln Hall on February 25th Cyle, Cain, Sam, and Dbone who make up The Weeks, have curated a special mixtape to get everyone ready!
SHOW INFO>>> http://bit.ly/1TOK1kO
Check out what the band had to say about their mixtape below!
DBone
Baby, I love you- The Ramones Last year, when I was on a Ramones kick, this song stuck out to me. It’s a classic love song that always gets stuck in my head
Paradise City- Guns N’ Roses In honor of their reunion tour coming up and the fact that this song was on one of the greatest rock records of all time it only seems fitting!
Give it to me Baby- Rick James This song is one of the essential songs premiered at all Weeks’ dance parties. If it doesn’t get you on the dance floor then we can’t be friends.
Cyle Barnes
Slack motherfucker-superchunk
Got to give it up-thin lizzy
Razor face-elton john
Cain
You're So Vain - Carly Simon ... One of my favorite songs.
Hold On I'm Coming - Sam and Dave ... A very sexy song
Shout - Isley Brothers ... Gets the party going!!!
Sam
Jimmy Reed - Bright Lights, Big City :: As we've gone through a few rhythm guitar players, we ended up as a four piece for a long time and I had to adapt to playing a rhythmic lead style that Keith Richards played a big part in developing and he always points back to Jimmy Reed, so I've been a on big JR kick lately, this song in particular.
NRBQ - Ridin' In My Car :: The last time we played Chicago was opening for Deer Tick at the Metro on that weekend they told us about NRBQ and we've been hooked ever since.
Ramones - Baby, I Love You :: Obviously the Ramones are cultural icons, but pairing them with the production of Phil Spector? To be a fly on the wall of those sessions... These songs were a big influence on our new record.
Michael Jackson - Chicago :: People wanna toss on this record, but there's a couple cuts on it that blew me away. Chicago was among them, and this city has always had a special place in our heart. Like many Mississippians before us, Chicago was the first big city we ever played. We rented a cargo Uhaul with two seats and made the trek up 55.
Guest Mixtape: Diarrhea Planet
Brent Toler, Guitarist and Mix Master of Diarrhea Planet, has shared a specially crafted mix for their New Year’s Eve shows with JEFF The Brotherhood at Lincoln Hall on December 30th & 31st. He also shared a few tips about how to make an awesome mix of your own!
Show Info>>> http://bit.ly/1GZ8ccq
I'm a mix guy. Driving the van, putting on a 2 hour mix is much easier than shuffling through individual songs and albums. I have a few general rules when making a mix. First one is that every mix should work just as well at a party as on a long drive. Second is to include plenty of lesser known classics in addition to the more recognizable songs. You don't want it to sound like the radio. Anyways, enjoy!
Guest Mixtape: Born Ruffians
Born Ruffians are playing at Lincoln Hall on Tuesday, December 1st. Make sure to check out their guest mix before the show. Tickets can be purchased here.
Guest Mixtape: The Bright Light Social Hour
The Bright Light Social Hour are playing at Lincoln Hall on Friday, November 13th. In the meantime, check out this guest mix and grab tickets to their show here.
Going Away Mix - Rucins
After 15+ years with the company as a promoter + talent buyer, Matt Rucins has moved on for other endeavors and left a little something behind for you:
First, I’d like to thank my staff- past and present- for helping me implement a system that allows for the best possible treatment of everyone involved in promoting and executing a show. Thanks to you, there is a long list of happy agents, labels, managers, promoters, sponsors, tour managers and- most importantly- bands and customers, who are the life blood of the venues we love to work in.
Second, to all the bands who have come and gone or returned time-after-time, on behalf of doormen, bartenders, servers, my staff and myself, thanks for taking the risk and devoting yourself to your art. Your love for what you do allows all of us to work in a very rewarding industry.
Third, to the aforementioned agents, managers, labels, promoters- and those that assist these men and women- thanks for helping Schubas and Lincoln Hall become two of the best venues in the country. There were spirited exchanges along the way, but we all wanted the same thing: a successful show. And much of the time, we achieved that. Of course, some credit needs to go to the venues themselves, which remain two of the best sounding rooms around. I’ll be sure to thank each of them for making our jobs a little easier.
Finally, a special thanks to Doug Lefrak, for the interview back in December of ’99 and to Mike Schuba, who two months later turned a trial internship into the start of a fifteen plus year career.
I wanted to share these songs with all of you who made the success of Lincoln Hall and Schubas possible to pay homage to the incredible heights we were able to reach together.
Guest Mixtape: AM & Shawn Lee

From Michael: Modern Psych b/w Post Punk & 70's Ephemera - mostly what I'm listening to but a dash of Menteer & Earley's thoughts too. Perfect for an autumn afternoon headphone listening party.
Guest Mixtape: ON AN ON
Join us at Lincoln Hall on Thursday for ON AN ON. Prep with this guest mixtape. Listen below and grab your tickets here.
ON AN ON is an American experimental-pop band out of Minneapolis, MN, made up of long-time friends and collaborators, Nate Eiesland (vocals, guitar), Ryne Estwing (bass, vocals) and Alissa Ricci (keys, vocals). On July 24, 2015 they released their sophomore album And The Wave Has Two Sides.
“This is another first record for us in a way.” says keyboardist Alissa Ricci “This time we came into the studio as a band. ‘Give In’ (our debut) was us learning to think less and trust our instincts. What you hear on that record is a band beginning. It’s mysterious, and flawed, and honest.”
