Fandom (or og story): Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2
full name: Chin Ling Mei (Pronounced the same as May, for anyone unsure)
Race/Ethnicity/Class: Chinese. Mei's family are immigrants from Canton, China. They’re respectable middle-class in the Seattle Chinatown.
Describe them physically: Mei is slender and petite. 4’11” and maybe 90IBS. She has jet black, straight hair, which hangs down nearly to her waist. She keeps it pinned up in an elaborate twisted bun, which mimics the waved bobs of the era. (She’s not brave enough to cut it all off.) She has dark brown eyes and she plucks her eyebrows even thinner than they already are. She has a round face, her eyes are close-set, and her nose is just a little bigger than she’d like.
Describe how they dress: She wears western styles, mostly, and so she has 1920s drop-waist dresses in the summer, or skirts and blouses, with sweater-vests in the colder months. She keeps up with fashion and has a lot of different hats – cloche, berets, bucket hats, those turban wraps. Many more hats that is reasonable. She does have some ethnic clothes, but those are reserved for formal settings in the community.
Favourite things: Dancing. She loves to dance, and loves going to dance halls. She doesn’t really care what the music is like, as long as she can move to it. She also loves a good joke, as she has a hard time being serious herself.
Least favourite things: Society’s expectations. She doesn’t want to exist to orbit around a man – to have his kids and wash his clothes and make him dinner.
What's up in the romance department (and if they're aro, are they in a queerplatonic relationship): She’s got a hot fall fling going with the local detective. It has to be on the down low, because her family wouldn’t approve – he’s not Chinese. He’s just a little bit of fun in an otherwise boring existence. He’s funny, smart (but in a really dumb sort of way), kind, and cute. Sometimes he’s infuriating, because he gets easily distracted and forgets things, or he’ll disappear for a few days and pop back up like he never left. He never talks about himself, but she’s working on it. She’s not sure how things will play out, because secret trysts don’t tend to last, but for now, she’s just trying to enjoy herself.
