thea. the melitta he knew from school had a sister named thea — a twin actually. ❛ i wish i had some siblings. i’m an only child. ❜
and then she asks the question. ❛ maybe. i mean, i — maybe?? ❜
❛ do you like being an only child?
she settles, trying to figure out why he looks so familiar, and why she doesn’t remember ever meeting him.
❛ maybe?
she echoes, hoping that this boy will offer up some kind of actual explanation instead of the word maybe.

“ happy valentine’s day, ‘litta. ”
he holds out a medium-sized box, wrapped in red wrapping paper and topped off with a white bow.
“ it’s not much but — i thought you’d like it. ”
❛ happy valentine’s day, abe.
she takes the box from him, trying to figure out what it is. she feels terrible -- she had had no idea they were exchanging presents, and thus had nothing to give him in return.
❛ i didn’t know we were doing gifts! you didn’t have to get me anything.
“ oh! that must be nice. ”
and then, it clicked. the melitta he knew from elementary school was someone abe had absolutely adored — and when he found out he was moving, he had to let her know about his feelings. so, he kissed her the day before he left. could this be her? melitta wasn’t a very common name — if only he could remember the girl from his school’s last name.
“ he’s — interesting. i think he really, REALLY likes minecraft, so this should prove to be an interesting year. ”
❛ it’ll be a nice aspect of home -- makes adjusting to the new environment easier, and all. you’re welcome to hang out over here whenever you want. i’m sure thea won’t mind.
she bites down on her lip, still unable to figure out why he seems so familiar.
❛ have we, uh, have we met before, by any chance?
“ actually, i’m three. ” he teased, then stared at one of the problems in his textbook. “ man, i wish the assignment wasn’t so long. ”
❛ now e v e r y t h i n g makes sense.
she chuckles, before peering over his shoulder.
❛ you’re almost done -- three more problems, and then we can take a break.
“ fake girlfriend. can you do it? ” abe hated how he was feeling at the moment. the girl he had liked ever since he could remember ( and his brand new ex-girlfriend, as of last monday ), had dumped him for some asshole junior named BILLY or some shit. and, abe had been completely and utterly CRUSHED since then. he didn’t know why — but all he could think about was how to make shelby jealous, and this seemed to be the only way.
a pause. this couldn’t be timed any worse -- valentine’s day was just around the corner, and there was no way she’d be able to tell anyone that they were fake dating -- it’d be out in seconds and his plans would be ruined. the only good outcome from this was maybe, she’d be able to see why they would never work out together and get over her best friend for good.
❛ as long as you go to my cousin’s wedding with me next weekend.
❛ you said what now?
please, please please tell her she heard him incorrectly. there is no way he had just asked her to be his fake girlfriend to make his ex-girlfriend jealous ---- and on valentine’s day, of all days ! but if that was what he wanted, and that made him happy, then, wasn’t that all that mattered? // @spirituuus
“ well — ” he murmured, turning to melitta and sticking his tongue out at her. “ anything, huh? what if i wanted to go rob a bank, huh? could i do that? ”
❛ anything legal, abe. ❜ she rolls her eyes at him, before giving him a light punch in the shoulder. ❛ what are you, five? ❜
melitta. he had known a girl named melitta once — they went to school together and then he moved away. “ sure. ” abe offered her a grin, and took a step inside of her dorm. “ do you like the dorms so far? my roommate is a little strange, but i think i’ll get over it. ” and, after he said that, he inwardly groaned. why did he have a history of adding unneeded information to a conversation with anyone who was even the slightest bit attractive?
she smiles, still trying to figure out why he seems oh, so familiar. maybe, they had met a while ago -- and she just didn’t remember. or maybe, she had gone to school with him before her family had moved. she wasn’t entirely sure.
❛ i do -- and i lucked out ;; i’m roomming with my twin. what’s your roommate like?
guilty. once again, college has been killing me (more specifically, calc & accounting) but i’m going to start to slowly give melitta/rp another shot, so like this for a short starter?

something about his new neighbor is so FAMILIAR. her eyes, her face, her hair — and he couldn’t put his finger on it.
❛ abe lowry. pleasure to meet you.
she murmurs, pushing the door a little wider, and stepping backwards. his brown hair, big brown eyes ;; they seem to remind her of home, if home was a person and not a place. but how? why did he seem so familiar? had they met before?
❛ melitta pfälle. would you care to come inside?
“ have you thought of the fact that she’s very likely to only blame me and forgive you immediately ? - wait, of course you have. “
❛ and i wonder why that is. come on, it’ll be fun.
“ of course i don’t. unless your name is calculus. ” he teases, flipping open his textbook. “ i shouldn’t have taken this class, i hate it so much. ”
❛ you wouldn’t hate me even if my name was calculus. ❜ it’s the truth, and they both know it. she smiles once she sees his opened textbook, glad that he’s finally listening. ❛ we can do anything you want once you’re done. i promise. ❜
barely a whisper. “ he’s my son. ”
❛ oh. well, there’s nothing wrong with that. you didn’t have to LIE to me.
