Hereâs how you stop being average: When you wake up in the morning and need to brush your teeth, and you have that thought, âOh, I should actually floss too,â then floss. When you go to make yourself breakfast and you have that thought, âOh, I said I was going to eat healthier,â make the healthy choice instead of the unhealthy one. When you go to head to train for work and you have the choice between taking the stairs or the escalator, and you hear that voice in your head that says, âOh, I said I was going to be more physically active,â take the stairs. When you get into work and you sit down in front of your first task, and you have that thought, âOh, I said I was going to work on being more productive,â turn off all distractions and get to workâinstead of browsing Facebook, for example. When you leave work and youâre exhausted and you have that thought, âOh, I said I was going to work on my book this week,â donât go to the bar. Go home and work on your book. When you get ready for bed and you feel like winding down, and you have that thought, âI said I was going to read more instead of watching so much Netflix,â pick up a book instead of opening a web browser. Being average is a choiceâthatâs what a lot of people donât understand. You know what you need to do. And a tiny, faint voice in your head reminds you of what you need to do, or what you had said you were going to do, a lot more often than you might realize. Start listening to that voice.

feeling lost isnât a bad thing. no one has it all figured out. self discovery is a journey and you donât have to find yourself to be truly happy. life is meaningful if you make it be and create your own meaning out of things. think about who you would want to be, if you could do anything and if no one around you put pressures on you. think about what makes you happiest and what makes you want to get up in the morning. think about your dreams. whether you want to make art, travel the world, have a relaxed life, decorate your own home, protect animals, plant flowers, create your own photo collection, meet new people, go skydiving, be an inspiration, learn new things every day, explore forests, create your own masterpieces, move to Paris, make people happy, or make yourself happy. what makes you feel the most fulfilled: love, possessions, excitement, novelty, beauty, intelligence, comfort or meaning? itâs ok to be lost because finding yourself is the fun part.
in case you forgot...
âą what you want is out there. donât stop until you find it; refuse to settle
âą trying again or starting over is not a sign of failure. it is a testament to your growth, maturity and sense of self as a person and student
âą donât dim the lights inside yourself for someone else or for something you donât truly want
âą keep going. persist until you succeed
âą i believe in you. always. you can do this.
If boy didnât leave with a pastry I swear to G

@juskru LOOK AT THIS
the main piece of advice i have for students is this: learn how to fail and persevere. it is a skill that will help you in life far more than perfect grades. think of failure impersonally. when you fail, you have just eliminated one method that doesnât work for you, so you need to try a different method in the future. figure out which factors contributed to the undesirable result, and change them. (teachers, advisors, and academic counselors can help you with this if you arenât sure where to start). i know from personal experience that fear of failure is often a self-fulfilling prophecy, because it leads to self-sabotage. if you can learn not to think of it as an inherent personal flaw, but rather as a strategy that didnât work for you and can be changed, you will be well-equipped to face the inevitable failures and rejections that are part of life.

//MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS - HERE IS THE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM OF FINDING THAT RIGHT WORD!!!!!
Iâve reblogged it before, and Iâll reblog it again
And again, itâs a solid set of useful vocabulary for both native speakers and the ones learning English! I love it.

10 Angry College Tips For Incoming Freshmen
(I finished my freshman year this spring with a 4.0 GPA, an off-campus research internship, and three professors contacting me suggesting that I apply for a fulbright scholarship. Â These tips arenât coming out of my ass.)Â
1. LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY THIS: YOU DO NOTÂ NEED TOÂ âGET INVOLVEDâ IN STUPID CLUBS IF YOU DONâT ENJOY THEM. Â Hear âget involved! :)â for the 1000th time and just barf in your mouth a little and move on. Â If you work hard and get good grades, and socialize with people on campus when you have free time (it comes more naturally than you think) YOU WILL. Â BE. Â FINE. Â Actually better than fine. Â Youâll have time to get a real job/internship, which by the way, is what the real world wants to see you prioritizing. Â Moral of the story: Only join clubs if they help your personality thrive and feel healthy. Â Donât do them because you feel pressured. Â
2. DONâT TAKE SHIT FROM A N Y O N E. I know youâre trying to fit in and take the stance of trying to make everyone happy to make sure youâll have plenty of friends.  But you have to realize that you literally just met these people, and they just met you.  If they create an uncomfortable environment for you that makes college harder to cope with, get them the fuck out of your life. Ainât nobody got time for peopleâs high school-ass drama. Â
3. SKIP YOUR CLASSES SOMETIMES.  If you really have your shit together, it wonât matter.  Your school will say the amount of skips you can get away with before it harms your grade.  Use. Them.
4. BECOME THE MASTER OF WRITING ESSAYS IN ONE NIGHT. Â You will have to. Â Iâm telling you right the fuck now. Â And you can get an A, if you work your lil ass off. Iâve done it many times. Â
5. DONâT CARE FOR EVEN 1 SECOND WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU. Â If you wanna wear sweats and no makeup, do it. Â If you want to dress up and take time to put on makeup, do it. Â If you want to stay away from partying, do it. Â If you want to party, have a good ass time. Â If anyone has enough time to judge you, they need to be studying harder or getting a hobby. Â Make yourself comfortable and happy as fuck and enjoy your time in college worry-free.Â
6. BE THE ASSHOLE WITH A TABLET OR LAPTOP IN LECTURE.  You wonât have time to copy it all down.  Youâll be miserable.  Just trust me.  I know studies say its more effective to write stuff down for memory, but, write them out later or something.  Learned that one the hard way.
7. DONâT REWRITE YOUR NOTES IF IT DOESNâT HELP YOU STUDY. Â If you know doing that doesnât help you memorize, donât do it, period. Â Or, if you have a collossal asston of notes (like I did) it isnât even worth rewriting them all in the first place. Iâve fallen down that hole and lost motivation and time. Â Just reread them or make flashcards or whatever. Â Study for effectiveness, not aesthetic.
8. BE PREPARED FOR LAB TO GO THE âWHOLE TIME.â  Yah, youâre gonna see 3 hours on that brand-shiny-new schedule of yours and be like thereâs no way itâll go that long, right? LOL about that.  Just mentally brace yourself.  Eat and drink beforehand for the love of god we donât need hangry people handling chemicals. Â
9. COMMUTING DOESNâT MAKE YOU A LONER. Â Just. Â No. If you live close to campus, are comfortable with commuting, and know youâll save yourself MAJOR debt by doing it, do it and donât feel a fucking ounce of guilt about it. Â Itâll be some early mornings, but your fresh out of college broke ass will thank you, and youâll use your time more effectively. Â (Plus you get a non grimy shower like??)
10. LOVE YOUR NEW FINE ASS SELF. Â College is a fresh start. Â Put energy into who you have always wanted to be. Â And donât compromise that out of social anxiety and embarrassment. Â Youâll be happy and thank yourself if you step out of your comfort zone to be the person youâve always had in mind. Â
A FUCKTON OF ACCURACY IN THIS POST
YOUNGINS LISTEN TO THIS WISE-ASS ELDER.
Emma Gonzalez directly called out Trump, the GOP, and the NRA for enabling the murder of children.
Oliver Willis at Shareblue:Â
A Florida teenager who survived the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida, issued a rousing call to action at a rally against gun violence.
Emma Gonzalez declared that the shooting at her school should be âthe last mass shooting.â
And she responded directly to Trumpâs tweet, which blamed students at the school for not reporting on the shooterâs behavior before the event.
âWe did,â Gonzalez said, âtime and time again, since he was in middle school.â
âWe need to pay attention to the fact that this isnât just a mental health issue,â she continued. âHe wouldnât have harmed that many students with a knife.â
âHow about we stop blaming the victims for something that was the shooterâs fault?â she demanded, and called out those who do deserve to shoulder that blame.
â[The people] who let him buy the guns in the first place. Those at the gun shows. The people who encouraged him to buy accessories for his guns to make them fully automatic. The people who didnât take them away from him when they knew that he expressed homicidal tendencies. And I am not talking about the FBI. I am talking about the people that he lived with, Iâm talking about the neighbors who saw him outside holding guns.â
And Gonzalez again did not let Trumpâs responsibility go unremarked upon
âIf the president wants to come up to me and tell me to my face that it was a terrible tragedy, and how it should never have happened, and maintain telling us that nothing is going to be done about it, Iâm going to happily ask him Iâm going to happily ask him how much money he received from the National Rifle Association.â
Gonzalez then called attention to the $30 million spent by the NRA in support of Trump in the 2016 presidential election, and how that translates onto each life lost to gun violence.
âThat comes out to being $5800. Is that how much these people are worth to you, Trump?â She asked.
âTo every politician who has taken donations from the NRA: Shame on you!â
The crowd erupted into a loud chant, echoing her cry: âShame on you!â
Emma Gonzalez and her Florida community are not allowing Trump, the Republican Party, or the NRA to intimidate them into silence. They are speaking up to defend their families, and shaming those who enable this epidemic of violence.

Watch. This. Video.
She needs to be a heard.
study less study smart
I decided to share my notes taken from this amazing 1 hour Youtube lecture by Marty Lobdell. i really liked him and his tips, i think they are super effective and cover a lot of situations! i highly recommend it!!!!! wow
but here are the tips and examples Marty mentions, so if you donât have the time to go through the full hour, you can just scroll down. hope this helps somebody!
Break your study time in chunks with breaks
most students lose focus at 25 minutes
itâs a mistake to keep going once you do, since you wonât actually learn anything and youâll hate every minute of it
so when you start losing focus take a 5 minute break
do something nice like talking to someone or listening to music
itâs something you practice so with time youâll be able to work for more time without losing focus
in the end of the study session have a big reward you look forward to
Create a study area
environment highly affects the way you act. Bedrooms are for sleeping, kitchens for eating: youâll feel sleepy in your bedroom and hungry in the kitchen. So if you have a study area, itâll be easier to start studying and staying focused.
study in a specific room like an office or school library if you can
if you have to study in your bedroom use a specific object you only use for studying: a lamp/desk. Make it a no-distraction, away from your bed, blank walls area.
The more active the learning, the better
80% active learning 20% passive
ask yourself: is it a concept or a fact?
learning a concept: understand/grasp/know it
put it into your own words
really think about the meaning of it
relate it with something you already know
teach somebody else. Recapitulate what youâve learned. Talk out loud even if you donât have anyone to teach - talk alone. Or at anyone that listens.
learning a fact: memorize it
use mnemonics
Acronyms (e.g. colours of the rainbow RoyGBiv â red orange yellow green blue indigo violet)
Coined sayings - anything popular or sayings youâve heard since you were a child.
Interacting images â work even better if theyâre weird. Creative associations make you never forget specific details. (e.g. 1 gram of fat has 9 calories: picture a fat cat â each cat has 9 lives)
any time 2 things are highly similar but not the same you will get maximal interference!! USE mnemonics!! (e.g. afferent vs efferent neurons: SAME - Sensory Afferent Motor Efferent)
Be a part of  study groups
others can help you in ways you never thought before
Recognizing VS remembering
never confuse the two
while reviewing a chapter you may recognize concepts but not actually know them
and when you get to the test you wonât be able to remember any of it
so quiz yourself without looking at it
or stop in a page of your notes/textbook and ask yourself what is the concept immediately after and before it
Get your REM SleepÂ
get ~8 hours so you donât undo your studying
this is how your brain stores permanent memories
without it youâre ability to remember seriously decreases
most people donât even begin to take the advice but itâs simple: sleep better. Do better.
Thereâs 162 hours in a week. There is time.
reflect on what you are doing with your time and what activities you have to prioritize to succed as a student
Taking notes is vital.
right after the class take 5 minutes to expand everything youâve jotted down, give it depth.
NOT hours later. You wonât remember half the things you wrote down.
Ask your questions to class mates and teachers.
teachers want you to succeed and itâs more than ok to ask your question in the teacherâs office or in the next class
How to use a textbook: SQ3R technique
Survey Question Read Recite Review
Survey: skim through the entire chapter in a couple of minutes.
Raise questions: e.g. what is osmosis? What is this graphic about? What is a prototype?
it causes you to look for answers and youâll find the information better once you actually study it after. If you intend to find something you learn it better.
Start studying for tests early.
donât undo yourself. You should only be reviewing the days before the test. donât leave it till the last minute!
(donât just scroll through this!!!! really think about these methods and how you can actually implement them so you can benefit from them!!! these actually work but only if you put them into practice boo good luck!)
