"A ticket?" he raised an eyebrow. "And here I thought you just meant club dancing…no offence." he added quickly, averting his eyes, small patches of red embarrassment flushing his cheeks.

"Oh my goodness," she replied with an embarrassed laugh, for once thankful no one could see her face.  "No, no.  Clubs prefer humans and asari.  Have you ever seen a quarian in a club before?  I certainly haven't.  Besides, my parents would murder me.  No, I'm part of a troupe.  Though I should thank you for assuming club?  I think.  I don't know.  It sounded kind of like a compliment.  And I'm babbling so I'll just shut up for a moment and hope this drink is good."  And Shala quickly focused on said drink, trying her best to still look elegant and totally under control trying to work the straw with her face mask.  Suits were nice, but they made things difficult.

He nods, taking a sip of the drink. “Yet another reason for drinking alone. Sometimes I just get too overwhelmed by….people.” he chuckles, shaking his head, before turning to her with a smirk.

"Well then on behalf of everyone, I’d like to thank you for your work." his mouth quirks at the side, into a sort of lopsided half-grin.

The quarian gave a small bow, laughing.  "You are most welcome, Pierce.  If you'd like, I could acquire a ticket for you.  Or two?" she asked, voice curious.

"That’s likely because I don’t…frequent this place, myself. It seemed empty and a good place to come and think….hence the drinking alone." he taps the rim of his glass, staring after the bartender as he goes about making Shala’s drink.

"Got it on the first guess. I’m impressed." He flashes her a smile, before giving her a lazy salute. "I’m normally stationed on the SSV Trafalgar. Currently in charge of the refugee center, though."

"Wow," she said softly.  "Must a be a mighty big job.  Stressful, too, I'd imagine."  Shala went quiet as she received her drink, the man giving her a straw, as well, and she inclined her head in thanks.

"I belong in the 'take everyone's mind of the war' division.  I dance."

Pierce nods, summoning over the bartender with a flick of his wrist.

"I’d like to buy the lady her first round." The bartender nodded, before looking at the quarian expectantly.

"Shala…" he tested the name out, hoping he pronounced it well enough. He also hoped that ‘friends’ was extended to include complete strangers one had only just met at a bar. "Well, Shala, I am Pierce." he took the hand proffered to him, giving it a light shake, a smile warming his features.

She ordered "something sweet and fruity" and the bartender left to make it.  Shala returned her attention to Pierce and looked him over.  "Well, Pierce, I've not seen you around before--not that I tend to be around these parts.  If I were to guess, I'd say....soldier or doctor."
