I might have found a french speaking job. I am overqualified for the job itself but medium to underqualified for the fact that it is in French. In my next interview there will be a French person who will ask me something and determine if my French is good enough for this.

I am reading Radio stilte (dutch version of Radio silence by Alice Oseman) and according to the translator Frances and Aled are drinking warm chocomel and I really want to know what the original text says so if you have it in English please let me know (chapter Logarigthms a few paragraphs after the text messages). That was so dutch I can't even 😭😭

i can't believe i didn't watch comprehensible input/listening videos on YouTube for 95% of my Japanese studies. Not sure if they didn't exist back then or if my algorithm just didn't recommend them until recently. But they're such a rich resource.

If you're learning Japanese and want stuff to listen to and shadow with, here are some recs:

This guy ^ has 80 videos of N4 listening practice on Patreon. They're $80 until April 9, and if you're around N4 and can afford it, it looks worth it imo. I just got it for my student to practice.

So many of the videos are travel vlogs or discussions about Japanese culture and language. They help you learn while also preparing you to enjoy a trip or move to Japan.

Vandaag heb ik Radio stilte begonnen. Ik vind dat heel interessant en niet zo moeilijk. Ik denk dat een YA boek lezen is een goed manier voor nieuwe woorden te leren en plezier te hebben met het Nederlands.

Morgen ga ik een lijst met nieuwe woorden over een specifiek onderwerp maken. Met deze woorden wil ik een verhaal zeggen en een andere verhaal schrijven, zodat ik ze kan onthouden.

Ik heb niets gedaan. Lol.

Mijn moeder is vandaag niet hier, dus ik ben naar een praatcafé gegaan en ik heb in het Nederlands gesproken met oma’s. Dat was een beetje moeilijk, maar ook grappig. Nu ga ik mijn Nederlandse boek lezen. Daarna ga ik in mijn buurt hardlopen.

TIKTOKER: I swear to God, no one tickles my testicles more than the people of my own fucking country. Okay, so like WHAT HAPPENED was this year, this summer, I was in Korea. And I linked up with a homie that I haven't met in a long time, just catching up. "Oh my God, how are you? You GRADUATED? That's insane, where do you work!?" Whatever. Okay.

So there was a conversation about like, food and preferences. So I just asked him! I just asked him: (in Korean, pronoucing "asparagus" as a Korean loan word) "Hey, when you eat steak, do you put asparagus?"

(in English) And this BITCH. He looks at me DEAD STRAIGHT IN THE FUCKING EYES. Has the AUDACITY to just.... degrade, I guess! Ask me: (in Korean) "HAH! Hey, aren't you from America? Why are you calling it (emphasizing the Korean pronunciation of asparagus) ASPARAGUS?"

(in English, in an exaggerated stereotypical American accent) OH, I'M SORRY. I'M SORRY! Am I supposed to say ASS-PARA-GUSS? ASS-PARA-GUSS? DO I GO (says his question again in Korean, but breaks up the flow of the speech by pronouncing all the loan words with American pronunciation).
