Writing practice for story 2

Odette took stock of what she had, Aside from the large crying creature still thankfully in the back of the truck there were other anomalies in the transport truck. Some she didn’t know or understand as her position at the foundation never let her have enough clearance for the details. But this little patchwork teddy bear seemed kind. Sentient enough she didn’t feel right leaving the little bear on the side of the road.

“Your coming with me little bear. I’m sorry if you liked your box…”

The little bear hugged around her neck and pinned itself to her like a backpack. Odette had to take a deep breath as she held a duffle bag. Everything else seemed broken or inanimate.

She opened the back.

“Damn.” She cursed at the damaged temporary containment unit. “Ok, 096…. Let’s get this over your head like this… oh!”

The little bear covered her eyes with its little paws as she covered 096’s head with the bag. “Well aren’t you a little helpful thing.”

She smiled at the bear as this will have to do for their journey.

Taking 096’s hand she guided the creature out of the van as if she was coaxing an elderly relative out of a car.

“Come on now, we’re going for a walk. Some sunshine….”

She prayed to whoever was listening things could go smoothly. But why hasn’t the foundation come yet?

No. Asking the whys wasn’t her job.

096 sobbed as she took them into a tree covered forest.

She was responsible for getting them to the foundation.

Writing practice for story

A lucky duck moving van sat crashed into an old telephone pole. Perhaps the only lucky thing about the crash was there was no electricity to worry about. As Odette sat on the gravel she tried to calm herself. Trying her best to think things through but what could she do.

The task force meant to transport the anomaly just vanished in the blink of an eye and of course they were the ones with walkie talkies. She looked at the two other crashed cars in the area, the other agents accompaning them most likely disappeared as well by the looks of it.

She sighed hugging herself.

The foundation promised this new site would provide better care.

Promised the best oversight during transport.

Promised so many things as long as she funded this move.

Sadly all that money no one could predict everyone from the SCP foundation just vanishing.

She didn’t have time to worry about the disappearances though.

The wailing of SCP-096 in the back was going to be noticed by a well meaning person when they notice the crashed truck.

At the moment she was the only person responsible for SCP-096.

The closest site was over a hundred miles out. On foot dragging an eight foot inhuman creature that could bust into a rage at any moment.

But, she was responsible. She’d get him to their next site.
