DIY - Make a “Handy Awl Tool”!
Do you have to use a pin to unplug clogged tips like in your Glossy Accents? If you aren’t using ScraPerfect’s No-Clog Writing Cap (with built-in pin), you probably need to unclog the tip!
But I also use pins to poke holes for brads, embroidery stitches, and other crafting things. I really like Quilting T-pins.
Why? Because they are sturdy, the right size, inexpensive, and the “T” makes them fairly easy to grasp. When they got “gunked up”, I’d toss them and grab another. (Now instead of tossing them, I clean them off with The Best Cleaner Ever from ScraPerfect--but I digress!)
Thing is, I often lost them on my work table and I thought it would be nicer if they had a larger "handle."
AHA!
I found a can of Plasti-Dip in our garage and dipped a bunch of pin ends. They were easier to keep track of and even a little easier to hold...
Such a handy tool, I decided to make some more to show you. But when I got the can out, I discovered it had dried up to a clay-like consistency.
AHA AGAIN!
AND even
BETTER!!!!
P.S. if you have polymer clay, it would work as well.

Perfect Embossing
Embossing can be a messy task, so anything that gives me a better result I love.
I pulled out this stamp set by Studio Calico. I wanted to use the tiny words on a banner and to make them stand out I decided to emboss them using white embossing powder.
First, I treated the paper with the Perfect Crafting Pouch then stamped with Versamark watermark ink.
Then I dumped embossing powder onto my paper and shook the excess off. As you can see from my photo, there's no extra embossing powder sticking to the paper. I didn't have to do anything extra to prep this for embossing -- no flicking, no brushing, nothing. Ready to heat emboss! Once the embossing powder has cooled I take my Perfect Cleaning Cloth and easily wipe the banner which removes the extra powder from the pouch.
And if you want to see the difference the pouch makes, here's your proof. The top banner was stamped, extra embossing powder brushed off (the best I could), then embossed. You can see that there's still little dots of embossing powder around the letters and the edges of the banner. The bottom banner was made using the Perfect Crafting Pouch.
And the banner on my project ...
Super Quick and Easy Father's Day Gift Bag
This was a super fast assemblage using a folded gift bag I already had on hand and a ready made tag that just needed quick embellishment. The colors and simplicity make it nice and masculine for my husband's Father's Day gift. I stamped my ribbon image on the tag, and inked the edges, then used the Perfect Crafting Pouch to dry the ink. I wrote my number "1" in Best Glue Ever and then sprinkled glitter at once. I poured off the excess onto a piece of paper that I had already prepped with Perfect Crafting Pouch to easily return the glitter to its bottle without static cling.
By the way, this glitter dried super fast too!
I stamped some random text as extra texture on a piece of coordinating paper. Best Glue Ever made it fast and easy to adhere a border (I could have used ribbon) around the top edge of my bag, the background layer and then the tag. Tiny Attacher staples are just for appearance, along with the masculine black paper cord on the tag. I had a page of Dad themed epoxy stickers, so I popped the letters "D-A-D" towards the bottom of the tag. I punched holes in the short sides and braided more paper cord, incorporating a couple of matching buttons to make the little handle.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Best Glue Ever for Those Small Shapes!
My son is having a fencing birthday party this year. Which made things a bit more difficult since I couldn't just buy a premade theme from the party store. As luck would have it, I recently acquired a Silhouette Cameo so I could make all those cool titles and shapes I've been seeing all over the place. And I put it right to work making invitations. I found this cool Sports Badge Set by Megan Hardy Designs at the online Silhouette store. You'll notice that this design has lots of thin and tiny parts which all needed to be glued to the card so they wouldn't rip off. Luckily the Best Glue Ever has a fantastic tip that allows you to easily make tiny dots of glue and thin lines.
Here's one of the cut outs ready to go.
Because of the fine tip, once it's put down on the card there's no smearing, leaking or stray glue seeping out.
Birthday Tote
Hi everyone, Steph here today working with a canvas tote. I have had this tote for awhile, but just couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with it. With a friend's birthday coming up, I thought it would be fun to decorate this tote and use it as the gift's wrap. So, with that in mind, I die cut a birthday cake using SEI fabric paper and my Cricut Expression. Using a bonding material, I was able to iron the fabric birthday cake to the tote bag.
So now to decorate. After thinking about how to "bling it up", I decided to use Dew Drops from The Robins Nest and The Best Glue Ever is the perfect adhesive for these little guys. I randomly scattered Dew Drops around the cake top just like sprinkles! Since I was using a lot of Dew Drops, I found it was easier to place a drop of The Best Glue Ever on a piece of scrap paper then dip my Dew Drops into the adhesive. For the flame of the candle, I put The Best Glue Ever directly on the flame, then used tweezers to place the Dew Drops.
The lace helped add a little dimension and definition to the cake and The Best Glue Ever holds the lace in place. Since it dries clear you don't see any left over adhesive.
For the tag, I stamped the floral print on scrap paper first to lighten it, then stamped it on my tag. The birthday sentiment was inked with a darker pink and stamped on top. I lightly inked around the tag with brown ink, then added a few Dew Drops with The Best Glue Ever for a little more sparkle.
I used a stencil to create the border under the cake and along the tote handles, then tied the tag to the handle with some beautiful May Arts ribbons. Who knew that decorating a tote bag could be so much fun and so easy with The Best Glue Ever!!! Thanks for stopping by today.
Embellished Gift Tags from Collage Sheets
One of the things I love about Best Glue Ever is that it works for every surface and every material, so I don't have to get out a whole bunch of different adhesives. I've used my own Collage Sheets to make some beautiful embellished tags that include in the materials: Paper, rice paper, cardstock, chipboard, plastic and silk ribbon. I even glued plastic to plastic with great ease - and confidence.
Here is the back of a couple of the tags, with stamped journal tags and stickers
Chipboard shapes and Dew Drops placed with Embellie Gellie and
adhered with Best Glue Ever.
I tried crumpling and ink distressing one of the collage images. It's OK,
but I think I prefer the flat ones. Of course once it was securely down, it was down!
This shows Dew Drops dropped into the center of small
plastic buttons. Embellie Gellie of course.
I used the label from the Collage Sheet on this little Buddha.
Fun Tip: It's been said before, but I'm going to mention it again. To adhere plastic to plastic (non-porous surfaces) or heavyish embellishements, put a drop of Best Glue Ever and let it turn clear so that it is super tacky. Also let your tiny row of dots turn clear before adhering ribbon, like on the "Unforgettable" tag below.
Mrs. Fix-It with the Best Glue Ever
I have a group of small pictures on my dresser. Occasionally they get knocked over, usually by a pile of laundry that needs to be put away. But for this particular frame, the last time was one too many. Here's what I started with. You can see the old, dried out adhesive.
I got out my bottle of the Best Glue Ever and made two thick lines on each side of the back. This glue is perfect for this project because it will bond paper to metal effortlessly.
After the glue had been drying for a while it looked like this. Most of the glue had dried until it was clear and tacky. Perfect! You can use the Best Glue Ever wet or dry (i.e. tacky), but I like waiting until at least half is tacky. That way I can adhere my pieces together and not worry about them sliding around while the rest of the glue dries.
Now, it's just a matter of carefully putting the two pieces together and pressing together.
And, right after pressing them together I reassembled the frame. No waiting. No mess.
More from the same sketch.
I hear that today is National Scrapbooking Day. Here's another super fast layout from my vacation - a variation on the same sketch. Again this was layered cardstocks, some rub on borders and flowers, and a small collection of chipboard embellies. Don't forget the souvenir pocket.
As usual Best Glue Ever handles every type and weight of material, while Perfect Crafting Pouch instantly dries my inked edges and stamps (I stamped the journal box and a design on my small tag).
Fun Tip 1: You can cut rub-ons before using them. My border rub-on was only about 7 inches long so I cut it in half and used the two pieces on either side of my next layer. It gives the illusion of a complete border.
Fun Tip 2: Don't forget to mix and match your papers and embellies - the repetition of general shapes, related colors, text and calligraphic "pen and ink" style, creates unity even though the individual elements are from different kits, sets and manufacturers. Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
[Fast Layout from my own sketch
My family had a great time on our recent road trip to Monterey Bay and San Francisco. Here is the first layout from that trip. I decided to print a collage first - using Serif Plus 4 to create the photo triptych, and title. Then I designed this sketch with the idea of the image/s as a panorama, again using Serif Plus 4 software.
Here is my layout using that sketch. I layered several different papers and cardstocks, including some travel related text, and colors that echoed the colors in the photos. I used rub on flowers and a border pattern, because they are flat, then started gluing down the papers with Best Glue Ever. I inked some edges and stamped a simple image as a background for a tag, drying the ink with the Perfect Crafting Pouch. The embellishments add dimension.
Best Glue Ever glued paper, cardstock, chipboard and plastic buttons. The other tool I used was the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
Fun Tip: Add a simple pocket to hold your souvenirs. What is most fun about this layout for me is the pocket where I have inserted the toll invoice for our bridge crossing. My plan is to make one on each page of my vacation spreads to keep the souvenirs, like room keys, brochures and tickets. All I did was run tiny dots of Best Glue Ever around two sides and the bottom of my chosen piece of cardstock and place it before putting down the the image. I added some tiny staples - but really they were for decoration rather than to hold the pocket. I'd love to see your versions of this sketch. If you do use it as inspiration, please tell us in the comments.
Best Glue Ever for School Projects
For her school's biography day, the third grade students are assigned historical figures to research, report on, dress up as, and make a puppet. The most onerous part is making the puppet, but with the Best Glue Ever it came together quite easily.
The puppet starts with a juice carton head (mostly) and the kids are given patterns to make the face, arms and legs. We used felt for the body and foam sheets for her dress.
My daughter applied the Best Glue Ever all over the carton and let it dry until it was tacky. After the glue dried she placed the felt face on the carton. The Best Glue Ever made it a piece of cake!
She went on to add eyes, lips, arms and a dress using the Best Glue Ever to glue everything down. I tried to offer to help, but she insisted on gluing it all herself. I may have to hide my bottle from her now! And the final project -
And More Patches with the Best Glue Ever
As part of the Cub Scout scrapbook for my son I wanted to include some of his uniform patches. Yesterday I showed you how I adhered them to cardstock. Today I've got another tip for you. I bought an extra set of his pack numbers to use in the scrapbook. I'd debated on where to put them - inside on the page with his earned ranks, on the front cover or on the spine. In the end I decided to give them there own separate page, but with a twist. A clear page! First I cut a transparency to fit a 6"x6" page protector. Then I applied the Best Glue Ever to my pieces and let them dry until tacky. Since these are a bit heavy, I added a bit more glue than I usually would.
And here you can see nice and clear the glue dries!
And here's your tip: before adhering the pieces to the transparency, I placed it on my craft mat. I made sure the transparency was all lined up so I could easily find the middle.
Now it was easy to center my numbers on the page. I started with the middle two, lining them up on either side of the center. Being able to see the craft mat underneath made this super easy.
And here's the back. You can't see the adhesive - except for a couple places where it crossed the sales tags. If I had taken a craft stick or my finger to apply the glue over the entire back of the numbers you wouldn't see it at all.
And here's the page in the album. You'll notice from yesterday's post that I decided to crop the cardstock page with his Cub Scout ranks to a 6 x12" page, which fits nicely on the left side of the page protector. The right-hand side of the protector has an assortment of shoulder patches. I will be sewing these into the pockets, in case they need to be used on a future Boy Scout uniform.
Best Glue Ever for Ephemera!
As my son has transitioned from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, I've been busy putting together a scrapbook covering his time as a Cub Scout. I wanted to have a page in the front that mimics his uniform, with all the levels and arrow points he earned. If you've seen these in real life, you'll know that these patches are thick and kinda slick on the backside. However, a bit of the Best Glue Ever was all it took to adhere them onto my page. I laid out all the patches onto my cardstock first. Then, I carefully picked up the badges, turned them over and applied the Best Glue Ever. I let the glue dry until it was tacky before turning the badges right side up and adhering them.
Except for those arrow points - it was easier to just set them aside and add them afterwards. The glue is easy to apply and dries clear and tacky - no running or bleeding all over your page! It makes it so easy to put together a page like this. And I don't have to worry about the patches falling off.
And here's my finished page, ready for the album.
Vellum + Best Glue Ever (BGE) = Love
Hi everyone, Steph here with an exciting discovery. I have vellum - tons and tons of vellum. I rarely use it, however, because I hate when the adhesive shows through the project I've created. I think I've tried every vellum adhesive on the market and I couldn't find one that I loved enough to use on vellum. Late one night, I was playing around with Faber Castell's Gelatos and was wondering how they'd work on vellum. At long last, this embossed butterfly vellum was about to be used. I first colored the reverse side of the butterflies with Zig Scroll & Brush Markers. Turning to the front side, I added color to the background with an assortment of Gelatos. I love the result, but my quandry was how to adhere the vellum panels.
I grabbed a bottle of the Best Glue Ever. This Glue is very sticky so I knew it would adhere very well, but I wasn't sure about using it with vellum. So, very carefully, I added a little BGE around the edges of my vellum. I then placed the vellum on white cardstock (so the beautiful butterflies would show up) and waited. Within minutes the BGE dried and it dried clear!!!!!! Wow, how impressive is that! No adhesive was showing through my project.
I realized after it dried completely, that I should have used more adhesive on the vellum. The orange panel did not completely stick to the cardstock! But, I was being cautious and I wanted to see how the BGE dried before really commiting myself.
Now that I knew the BGE would not show through the vellum, I totally commited myself to this pink based card. I added a line of BGE along the edges of the vellum and used my finger to rub the adhesive into the panel. I again placed the panel on white cardstock. Within minutes my panel was dry and the adhesive was not showing!!! I also added a drop of BGE to the rhinestones to be sure they'd stay put!
So try using the BGE on every project - you will be thrilled!
