'Kids These Days,' or Adults These Days?
For as long as humans have existed there have been people outraged by the actions of others. There is a long running trope of 'kids these days'. It is the young people of today who are ruining everything, says the next generation. I think it was Socrates who complained about the youth of the day reading newspapers. (They would surely be the downfall of humanity.) The gall of those folks.
Well, this time I'm afraid that it is the older generation who just won't let go of the past that is destroying any shred of humanity or civilization that we have left.
If I thought that growing up was hard in the 00's I can't even imagine how hard it is for young people of today. It is hard enough to have your body and brain changing but to have the added scrutiny of social media and hundreds or thousands of prying eyes makes it that much worse.
Then you throw all of that in with being on the brink of world and civil war, the destruction of the environment, the burning of the rainforests to make grazing land for people's inexhaustible passion for animal protein... it seems quite hopeless at times.
