In writing you can put a handy little space inbetween so it’s more clear that she is your “girl friend” (or, better yet, “(girl) friend”) and you are, in fact, not dating. But verbally, it’s best to just stick with “friend.”

-My little sister found out I have depression, and has been (or talks about being - I don’t know the severity) depressed ever since

-The night I got home from cutting my hair super short and getting it dyed (a pretty big indicator of my sexuality), she had her heart set on doing the same. The new look motivated her to care about grooming more; now her hair often looks better than mine

-During a pretty severe depressive episode, I didn’t get much sleep and barely ever ate, if at all. Soon my sister began to copy my bad habits. I’m doing much better with both of them now but she still talks about not sleeping as if it’s an accomplishment, and never hesitated to remind us that she skipped a meal that day

-And, of course: When I came out to her she started questioning her sexuality. The very next day was the day she decided that she liked girls too, despite never having shown much of an interest in them in the past (we used to share a room. late at night she’d tell me about boys, and rarely ever mentioned girls). Just this morning she popped into my room to say, “I’m still gay”

It’s endearing to discover that your younger sibling wants to be just like you, whether they’ll admit it or not, but it becomes a problem when the things they pick up do more harm than good

Depression is not something I would wish upon anyone! Same goes for poor nutrition and lack of sleep. And about being gay - I don’t want her to go through what every member of the lgbt+ community does. I don’t want any aspect of her life to become harder just because she’s unknowingly following my example

Be sure to watch after your younger sibling(s) and make sure to support them if they make the same mistakes you do and/or borrow traits that can negatively affect them <3
