The new brute neoteny look, eyes always closed but eyelids are transparent enough to still look around. These fellas, despite their name, will no longer be a hint on what caste it'll grow into. Like some mites take their time going from worker to butcher, some neotenies take their time going from fish thing/crawling little ball sack to worker... or if they're unlucky, runt.
Also, mite castes, their in between phases and their livestock counterparts. Ancient mites (not included in the wip) don't have in between phases because the "castes" known to modern mites were actually different species in their ancient era - ancient colonies were truly a wonder to behold with so many species coexisting and working such complex systems... but now its just all mutant junkies with behavioral issues.
I firmly believe that there should be more fan art with “ounce a fool always a fool, ounce a failerler always a failure, ounce a villain always a villain” that has nothing to do with fable
Pix: Just some weird arse cartoons - though those of you with political vision might understand something completely different...
Good Luck - you're gonna need it!
Never the End!!
Felix finds a large gray tabby on his pillow, curled and comfortable. The cat seemed quite familiar, but…
No. It couldn’t be. Was that Milton?
It had been a couple of months, sure, but there was no way he’d grown so…volumptious in that short time. And there was no accompanying pink envelope, as Milton always carried with him. Surely not!
And yet…
The tabby lifted his head briefly, his notorious bored gaze staring right into Felix’s soul. By Merlin, that hefty puffball was Milton! But again…without his usual delivery.
Huh. What to do with him?
The door to the wardrobe clicked shut just as the Ravenclaw turned, a half-folded pyjama still dangling from his hands as he took in the sight on his pillow and froze mid-step. There, right in the centre of his pillow, was suddenly a rather large cat, curled up as though it had lived there its entire life.
He startled slightly, clutching the pyjamas closer to his chest. The soft rise and fall of grey fur, the faint, judgemental stare - it all looked far too familiar. "... Milton?" he asked carefully, as if the cat might correct him. The feline lifted its head, blinking once with a gaze so steady and unimpressed that it could only belong to that Milton.
Felix frowned faintly, taking a hesitant step closer. "You've… grown," he murmured, half in disbelief, half in admiration. "Or had a very good summer. What have you been eating? First-years?"
The floor creaked softly beneath his feet as he gingerly perched on the edge of the bed. One careful inch at a time to avoid startling the creature. Milton didn't stir.
The lad reached out a tentative hand, then withdrew it again the moment he noticed the cat's tail made even the slightest twitch. "Alright, alright," he said softly, hands raised in peace. But the temptation to touch the plush fur was just too much to ignore. After a few long seconds, he finally brushed his fingers gently through the thick fur.
The cat still didn't move. If anything, he seemed to approve. His eyes slipped closed, and a low sound, somewhere between a purr and a snore, rumbled from his throat. Felix exhaled in quiet relief. He rarely got that far with cats before they decided to express their opinion more… physically.
"No letter this time?" he asked after a moment, glancing around the room as if a pink envelope might appear somewhere nearby. Nothing. Just Milton, who now appeared to be settling in for the evening.
Felix ran a hand through his hair, letting out a small, amused breath as his eyes returned to the tabby. "Well," he said, lowering his voice, "since you've clearly decided to stay, I suppose I can make room for one more guest."
His hand gave the plush belly another gentle pat. "Hope you like cuddles."
