OKAY! I'm going to try and write a little cleaner today.... however, after last night, just finding this journal is impressing me. Since the last time I wrote in here.... a ton of shtuff has happened. We're definitely not in Madrid right now, nor did we ever see it. lol. Although catching a ride w/ that guy would have been a great experience, plans changed for the better. Instead, we caught up with Ryan and "Brooke." They ended up going to the beach together while we waited around for him all day. I assumed, after that, that they hit it off and we had been ditched. But after getting to know Brooke (I should have known) I discovered how great of a person she was and realized that she a blessing to anyone that gets to meet her. She does a lot to help people. Not on purpose either! :) Ryan ended up being equally upset when we didn't see him either. It was all a big misunderstanding. SO the four of us hit it off and spontaneously decided to go to Palma de Mollorca! We wanted to, originally, take a quick trip to Ibiza but discovered that Ryan was heading to the other island- for cheaper, for less drugs, and more beauty. AH! It was simply incredible. Because of him, we were able to see Sa Colabra, ->Not to mention run out of gas trying to get there and just about die around some of the craziest curves I've seen on a road.<- Trenc, and the most beautiful locals at the cathedral and market. I don't think I'll ever be able to get over it. Truly, coming to this place was like being in some kind of fantasy land. It's so hard to describe the amount of raw.... beauty, I guess. I can't think of a better word. And that still doesn't justify it. ->The one thing that never got old- natural wonders. No matter how many magnificent structures I visited, the words to describe such things never seemed like enough. If there was ever an utmost feeling that combined all of being both in awe and discontent or in adoration and frustration, this was it. When attempting to have conversation with anyone about such places it still leaves me pleasantly exhausted.<-
It was sincerely magical- I didn't want to leave. Our first night in our hostel "Tierra Mar" was a crazy girl's night. SO! FUN! Brooke took good care of us :') We started at this crazy, HUGE, bar full of half-dressed girls dancing on tables. They had these awesome straws that were put in your pitchers that, I promise, were as long as my arm. Neon and extremely bendy lol I loved it! Two German boys then bought us another pitcher of beer and came with us to Happy Days! "Where any time is drinky drinky time!" lmao. There we drank sangria endlessly and danced to some great American music for once! ->"For once?" You've hardly been gone for a week! Psh.<- It was such a fun time. It was one of the boys' birthdays so we kinda felt bad for them. Well, we just wanted to be nice.... after all, they were paying for our drinks all night. After the bar closed at 4 or something, the boys made an attempt to walk us home.... Brooke was like, "NOPE!" They were soooo touchy-feely but thankfully she watched out for us. When she got us home, she recorded how completely ridiculous we were.... Yea, it was bad lmao I still don't remember half of it!?!?! ->My first-ever blackout from alcohol; I remember not being able to accept that for days. Silly me for thinking that this was some special occasion.<- Apparently, I was all over Ryan's bed and speaking in a British accent, "I'M SO SORRY! THANK YOU SO MUCH, I'M SORRY! WHY CAN'T I STOP SPEAKING LIKE THIS?!" The next night ended up being very similar, but this time Ryan came out. ~Before that, we had our make-up discussion in the beautiful water at sunset.. It was beautiful. He ~tried to hold me in the water but I wouldn't let him.~ So yea, that night at the German club (yea there's no "China Town" here- it's a freaking German Town.... weird). ->This is referring to the absurd amount of German tourists there happened to be on the Spanish island. This awesome vacation spot offers cheap travel and a guaranteed good time for them. So much, in fact, that many Germans call Mallorca its 17th federal state! I would not recommend wasting valuable sangria-consumption-time looking for an authentic flamenco scene here. The food and wine is great but plenty of the young locals enjoy the fist pumping discos just as much as their tourists.<- It just all unraveled. "I, I, follow!!!! I follow you, e, e, baby!!!!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_HnkwzbAIk ->A European favorite and a somewhat haunting song for me, now.<-
lol that song was our favorite. ~We danced, we drank, and it was great. The next night was sober.... but still late.... We went to Trenc the next day and spent our time at the beach! We all treated ourselves (or really, Ryan did) to a nice lunch to celebrate our last night together.. ~Little did we know that this seemingly small toast would be the start of such an epic night. We ALLLL got so drunk.... like.... ridiculously. drunk. ->And from that point on, in my first week of travelling at such a young age, I started paying closer attention to both the power and danger of physical attraction. Sooner or later I would learn how unimportant it is.<-
I traveled over four continents in fifty weeks the year after my high school graduation in 2012. When I came across the Serengeti my heart

Working closely with his collaborator and wife, Coosje van Bruggen, American pop artist Claes Oldenburg brought a playful element to an art world that largely took itself very seriously.
His most notable works take shape as larger-than-life everyday objects, such as spoons, trowels, safety pins and even rubber stamps.

On September 2, 2012 I wrote the first of many journal entries during my gap year. I've decided to share and reflect upon it. In doing so, I have replaced names and annotated a bit to.. well, let's just say to make it more fun ;) It is our last day in Valencia :( I had no idea that there was so much to do here. The city is SO charming. Literally, I could get lost in these streets for hours at a time.... and at night!.... and still not have a single worry. I wouldn't have assumed that by the first night, however. That night, all we wanted to do was sleep. As SOON as we got off the train from Barcelona, -> It was cheaper to fly into Barcelona than Valencia and we had to be here by a certain time. <- we shuffled our way to the nearest hostel (€20) ->HA! This was quite comical reading it after a year's worth of traveling because it's BULLS@#$T! Don't ever pay that much for a hostel. Most times, you should never have to.<- and there we met "Danielle" :) Our first travel-backpacking-buddy! It was great. We all bonded in a matter of 3 seconds. I still wanted to be cautious that first night, but she totally ended up being an AWESOME person all together. The next night, the three of us moved over to a hostel called Red Nest. This. place. was. awesome. I freaking love it. Free wifi, free breakfast, pubcrawls, kitchen, terrace, bar, game room.... it's really great. ->This was pretty cute to read as well, because.. most hostels provide all these things..<- The people here are just like us- traveling from all over and, simply, lots of fun. This one guy in particular.... I think he is the 30 yr old-male-Brazilian version of me. lol. Or maybe I just wish I was that cool, idk. ~We got to know each other (along w/ all the other 5 people from all over) and started hanging out during the first night's pub crawl (which was sick). Nothing more than friendly jokes to keep convos going. ~However, the next night, we all went out again! (Even better this time, and I originally didn't want to go.) I made a deal with him (after annoying him last night about the same thing) that I would only come out if he salsa danced for us! This was hard for him, though, because he knew my age and did everything he could to be respectful. I swear he never even touched me until that dance! That was refreshing. ~ Eventually we left the club and sat outside to get some air. ~Of course, "catching some air" turned into deep conversation for something like.... oh idk, three hours?(!) We literally talked for so long that we took a taxi to the beach for the sunrise.. and then breakfast.. and then checkout.. and now here I am writing this entry on zero sleep. But I couldn't be happier :) "Ryan" is absolutely incredible. I wish everyone saw the world like he did. There's not a single word that comes out of his mouth that isn't sincere and sentimental. ->LOL, oh boy.<- I respect him very much. And I guess that respect goes both ways, because all of his compliments and questions seemed never-ending. They were overwhelming, I must admit. I've never had that many compliments thrown my way before. There were so many, in fact, that he called me out when I didn't know how to respond- it was that bad! Or good? However you'd like to look at it.... ~When I get so used to hearing these sweet things ~I tend to lose the authenticity in it. So when someone else tells me these things.... only just after really getting to know me.... well. it's just kinda nice to hear. ->The Portuguese, like many other peoples of romantic-descent, have a brilliant way with words. Stringing sentences together for them (it has seemed to me) comes so naturally. I saw this as an art, and still do. I remember it becoming a goal of mine to one day master it. However, I wasn't looking for the ways in which this talent could be put to use for manipulation. This isn't the goal of all suave men, of course.. but I'm just sayin'.. Watch out ladies. <- I hope I can do the same for people. ~These questions, I've never been asked before, questions that I really searched my soul for. ~We're supposed to be getting together one last time before Rachel and I leave for Madrid. I'm hoping he'll come to the beach with us. We're meeting up with a couple of girls and this guy from the bachelor group that we met at the pubcrawl. They're all heading to Madrid so we're hitching a ride! And then we'll get a free night at his house! Sketchy-sounding at first, but God's watching over us. Whatever happens is all part of the plan, so I am not worried. ->Ok, probably could have been a bit more cautious during the very first week of the trip. This group was legitimate, no doubt, but reading this after being away for so long definitely shocked me a bit!<- Plus, we checked this guy out w/ some other ppl. ->....? That's it? Yea, totally legit..<- He's SUPER crazy and funny- like the rest of his crew. The groom-to-be dressed up like a detective dog both nights w/ no shirt, a shirt, a cloak, and boxers lol. His groomsmen were all married and SUPER COOL TOO! They were teaching us Spanish and playing pingpong w/ us. Great times <3
EN VALENCIA!
SALUT!
So "A year ago from today.." will be kept up and experimented with through out this next year. Hopefully I can share what it is like, through different states of mind and periods in life, to learn through travel. Travel teaches plenty about one's limits and one's potential. My goal is to help people realize how ok- or better yet, fantastic- it is to be scared, humiliated, and humbled by travel (or even the thought of it) through my own scary, humiliating, and humbling experiences. I'm letting it all out because learning is nothing to be ashamed of. With my finger's crossed, maybe this reflection will do myself some good as well.. and get me by until my next adventure :)
These are my friends. I visit them long time. #bestsmoothies #cheekyfellas (at Ho chi minh city)

This place reminded us how to live life. And now, on the last leg of the trip, the lessons learned in Africa will inspire me once more. I hope they inspire you just the same! Or better yet, I hope they inspire you in a way that is yours. I want to put these photos to good use. They were taken with a passion that I had never felt before; a passion that is yet again reminding me to push my limits. I’ve got some exciting plans for the last month or so of my trip and to make them a reality I may need your help. I’d like to offer these digital copies to you and yours at a price that you may decide for yourself. Anything and everything will be greatly appreciated and accepted with a warm heart. If you find something you like, shoot me an email and I’ll send you the original! You can drop whatever you feel appropriate in PayPal at [email protected]. Thank you all for supporting us through this amazing journey!
My plans for China have been all over the place! Although I have been a hot mess, I am continually blessed with the kindest of people who have ensured that my stay here has been plenty of fun. I don't deserve it! This gap year of mine has been nothing short of AMAZING. Thinking about all the beautiful people, jaw-dropping sights, and incredible opportunities that have been put in my path leaves me feeling very fortunate on this day.. to think that I have been given this chance on Earth is more than humbling.. There are some lovely souls out there who have been placed heavily on my heart tonight, and this last month or so before I go home will be lived to the fullest for them.. Be kind to everyone you meet! It may go further than you realise.. #thishope 💛⚓

Victoria Falls is claimed to be the largest waterfall in the world, based on its width of 5,604 feet and its height of 354 feet. It is located on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Not far down along the river you can jump off bridges and swing between its cliffs! (Which we had to do, of course.) Don't get too distracted by its beauty though, the baboons will have your bags the minute you turn around.. #waterfalls #Africa #VicFalls #travel #adventure #baboons #bungee
