Iâve seen a number of good activist write-ups on this correctly pointing out that the protests last summer are literally called the George Floyd Revolution and that this conviction is the system circling the wagons, trying to basically pin all racism on Chauvin and/or that particular police department, so that policing as a system can more or less continue as is.
It took massive nation and worldwide protests just to get the conviction of one cop.
Thatâs not justice. Thatâs not even a tiny step in the right direction of systemic reform.
Abolish the police.
âRace and racism is a reality that so many of us grow up learning to just deal with. But if we ever hope to move past it, it canât just be on people of color to deal with it. Itâs up to all of us â Black, white, everyone â no matter how well-meaning we think we might be, to do the honest, uncomfortable work of rooting it out. It starts with self-examination and listening to those whose lives are different from our own. It ends with justice, compassion, and empathy that manifests in our lives and on our streets.â â Michelle Obama
You save a mob boss from mortal danger and he says he âowes you a favorâ and gives you his personal number. After years of unfortunate events, you text the number âI want to be happyâ as a joke. âUnderstoodâ he sent back.
You're laughing. The royal necromancer just lost their job, and you're laughing
