@seacic13
21 year old Trucy Wright sprites, she’s a worldwide famous magician who restored the Gramarye name to it’s former glory. Sometimes she still drops by the agency and helps with cases.
Since she has a gun holster I gave her a gun animation idk and she’s also a witness in this one case that happened during her show.
i wish the final ingame sprites of mia's rookie design had kept the popped collar. it's a small detail but one i feel gives a splash of brash youthfulness to a design that, apart from the generous cleavage, is rather restrained. they clearly intended that to be the final design for quite awhile because that's a set of fully rendered sprites up there, i wonder why they pivoted away from it last minute?
you can see side by side the way one of these just has a bit more of a vibe to it
Edgeworth and Wright through the years
Suit, gesture and expression studies that ended up all being about mr Wright here :)
parenting 101 brought to you by phoenix wright
hi folks im back folks and im doibng horribly art wise no motivation uh so heres wright and trucy when he finally adopts her because i just finished t&t and all i can think about is ace attorney im so ill
Wright Family Week Day 2: Bluff
Prosecutor Wright and his 10 year old co-counsel in court
@wrightfamilyweek
theyre so fucking funny i miss them so bad. they're like this friends bit to me.
apollo: trucy and mr wright are doing their father and daughter bit again klavier: nein i'm pretty sure they're just father and daughter phoenix and trucy: 😏😏
why is fake piano player who actually holds under the table poker games an in-demand enough role in the ace attorney universe that multiple restaurants are willing to pay phoenix wright to do it
i think the way that ace attorney is able to deliver such emotionally believable and compelling characters who do not talk or act like real people and inhabit a world that does not hold up to even the slightest attempts to make sense of it or take it seriously is genuinely really impressive. it takes some serious writing chops to be able to stretch the suspension of disbelief as far as i am willing to let these games stretch mine. sometimes i think about the corpse pendulum bullshit in 3-5 and i can't even be mad. the whole premise of this universe is that there's so much crime that op only gives you ten seconds to solve each one. yes of course "Lawyer" is a career that you can be a child prodigy at. "Medical Doctor" too. don't worry about it.' don't worry about it.
manifesting a mia fey prequel game with sad wet phoenix wright as your intern
i also think the fact that after turnabout samurai will powers and phoenix kinda become friends is a source of significant torture to edgeworth even after edgeworth gets normal* because phoenix doesn't even appreciate what he's got. like will powers calls phoenix up to invite him to nice events, no you don't understand, the Steel Actual Samurai is Calling Phoenix Wright (His Lawyer), First, to Invite Him. to things. and phoenix is just like huh, he's social i guess. the steel actual fucking samurai. guess ill go to the premiere of the new 2 steel 2 samurai movie. with the steel actual real fucking legitimate samurai who called me first. don't have anything else to do. edgeworth is 99% sure will powers has a small crush on phoenix and phoenix does not even notice. he's just like yeah that will powers guy is friendly huh? i don't think he's got many friends if he's inviting his lawyer to stuff. and edgeworth is steaming jealous. and phoenix is like you wanna come? edgeworth is like I do not think I am welcome. phoenix is like sure you are, will likes you. edgeworth is like I Am Sure Your Dear Friend With Whom You Are On A First Name Basis (The Steel Samurai) Recalls The Time I Tried To Get Him (Steel Samurai) Convicted And Sentenced To Death. phoenix is like well he asks about you all the time. and edgeworth is like He Is Just Being Polite (He Is The Steel Samurai). I Am Going Now. To Brood. and the thing is edgeworth IS invited and will powers thinks he's hot but telling edgeworth this has a 73% chance of locking him in a torture gauntlet for all time
*"normal"
#another dimension to this: in the nrmts rship WP is edgeworth's hall pass#which is weird for someone they personally know but phoenix is chill about it because he knows#1) edgeworth would never do anything about it due to it would break his brain and#2) he would be ecstatic if edgeworth DID do this because it would be fucking hilarious#a long time later WP says to nick are you still with miles edgeworth? you're a lucky guy! and phoenix is like I HAVE TO CALL MY BOYFRIEND#EDGEWORTH GET OVER HERE NOW IT'S HAPPENING#rookposting#ace attorney#i think a lot of people have a crush on nick actually. he has that gormless unyielding hero vibe#watching a guy you barely know froth at the mouth in despair from the sheer effort of saving your life. it worked on Edgeworth
The tags on this post are really important to me I need everyone else to understand that immediately
Miles Edgeworth's accent
I simply do not care about choices which may or may not have been made by voice actors in the past. Miles talking with a Received Pronunciation (RP) accent, also known as 'BBC English', or else a similar variant of Standard Southern British English (there is no such thing as a 'British accent') makes NO SENSE.
*Sets teacup down with quivering anger*
Okay, hyperbole aside, regardless of the localisation Miles is completely unconnected to England.
Now, it should be noted that in the strict canon of the games, it is a grey area as to whether he ever actually lived with the von Karmas or not. In the canon of the anime, which Shu Takumi had a hand in, this is made the case - however technically it's portrayed that this was still in Japan.
In any case, regardless of the localisation, the von Karmas are either American (in the original) or German. It is never stated where in America to my knowledge, though in the anime Miles appears to go to New York City after leaving the 'chooses death' note, and then later what I would assume to be Washington D.C (though, as mentioned above, the von Karma house is still in Japan).
Sure, there are ways you can do some extreme bending of circumstances to force an explanation or logic, but at that point you are creating a specific scenario counter to canon, because for some artistic reason you have actively decided you want him to have that accent, not just slotting in a neat supportive headcanon. In all seriousness, I'm not saying this isn't a valid thing to do. I personally cannot fathom why people insist on this in such a fanon way, and if you cry 'it suits him' I think you should be forced to endure the company of an actual average English man for a few hours as punishment to challenge your assumption. To me, the concept is so unsupported by canon I find it painfully cringey, but that is merely my own opinion which, to be clear, does not or should not dictate what others do.
What I will add, though, is that even if you 5D chess some kind of 'explanation' for Miles changing his accent, there is still the factor of age. There is linguistic disagreement about precisely when accents become 'set' - you'll find some sources that say around 6-7, others which say later. Either way, by the time of the DL-6 incident, I think it is reasonable to assume Miles has a solid accent that I doubt is likely to change just from moving somewhere else, unless Miles was specifically actively attempting to put one on. I still find that there isn't really a compelling reason why he would want to do this, unless maybe copying Manfred von Karma (who in turn has no reason to artificially speak with an RP accent).
What I find weirdest about this is that once again, other than simply enjoying tea, Miles has no connection to England. You know who does, though, three times over? Phoenix.
His ancestor lived in London, even if only for a short period (As a sidenote, I think the voice acted segments in The Great Ace Attorney did a good job at portraying accent with a clear foreign influence)
Has actually been there*
According to Shu Takumi's vision, wanted to move there to pursue a Shakespearean acting career
Yet nobody is out here giving Phoenix an accent? Fix this! And make it a fun one. RP is overrated. Make him cockney for some reason. Or brummie, I think Phoenix could vibe with the dulcet brummie tones...
For what it's worth, I personally enjoy localised Miles with a slight German lilt. Non-localised universe Miles (or at least heavy on the Japan side of the 'japanifornia') has even more potential! How about giving English as a second language Miles a heavy Boston accent for funsies?
Sincerely, irritated Actually English person who formally revokes Miles Edgeworth's accent rights.
*Depending on your opinion about Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton.
HHHH i need to YAP AGAIN!!!!
I love that it’s specifically stated that phoenix took performing arts (and drawing) before he went into law bc it explains SO MUCH ABOUT HIM
My guy is a performer at heart and it’s so apparent in everything he does
Bluffing? THATS IMPROV BABY! Thats a core part of acting! Learning to think on your toes and improvise when a scene doesn’t go well to get everything back on track is what Phoenix excels at!
Playing a character for 7 years takes fortitude and a mind to remember what to not say or not do to make everyone believe you ARE that character. Beanix was a performance!
Phoenix also does certain things to perform how a murder was committed like how he literally jumps through hoops in the dreaded clown case.
Hell, there’s even the part that i don’t hear a lot of how phoenix takes insults or criticism in stride, how he just goes “oh yeah, my bad i was wrong about that haha!” THATS ALSO TAUGHT IN PERFORMING ARTS!!! (He’s also just a humble down to earth guy so i mean.)
And if you wanna look deeper into his character, everything he does is a performance. Performing huge feats just to show how much he cares for his friends and family, even if he can’t say it in words.
It’s like never touched upon but he really managed to combine two of his conflicting interests and bring a whole new genre of law into japanifornia just by combining performing arts and law, and people are ASTOUNDED by his invention and think this method is genius, when in reality he’s shaking in his shoes bc he forgot his lines and has been improving the scene for the last 45 minutes!
There are a lot of stories where the main antagonist/rival character is super obsessed with the protagonist to the point of seeming like their whole life revolves around their conflict with (and probable begrudging respect for) this one particular person, while the protagonist is wayyy less into the rivalry because they’ve got like. actual friends and other plot things going on that don’t involve their nemesis. Ace Attorney flips this on its head by making Edgeworth not give much of a shit about Phoenix at the start of the game and making Phoenix, who still definitely has more friends than Edgeworth and has way less of a reason to fixate on just this one guy, absolutely crazy about someone he was friends with for a few months in elementary school. It’s somehow weirder this way.
Another common trope in fanfiction for ace attorney is Phoenix going over to Miles’s office to bother him
which is really funny bc in Kumiko Suekane’s official art: The opposite is implied
Like why is miles always over at phoenix’s office literally just to bother him
This piece right here is quite literally about maya and miles coming over to bother phoenix when he’s working LMAOOO
Its so funny how we all expect miles to be the one working constantly, but in reality he canonically
- drops everything to help phoenix across the ocean
- dropped everything to prosecute a case phoenix was versing
- Dropped his badge to find the guy who attacked Kay Faraday
- dropped his work because there was a dead body in his office (which- yeah fair LOL)
- drops A TRIAL (for a second) to ask the steel samurai authot for an autograph
(his face says “can i have your autograph)
Anyways, more silly edgeworths in fan media who go “i’m bored as hell i’m gonna bother the people i’ve attatched myself to”
what if they were happy
