You are violently murdered for no reason and your soul sacrificed to Molag Bal. A daedric Animus takes your form and manages to do it perfectly, a rare feat creating a perfect Vestige. Most of the soul shriven are imperfect vestiges, just mindless shuffling husks. It replicates your memories and knowledge to the point it feels like it is you, but You are gone. You can die and reform due to the nature of a daedric animus being unable to truly die*. You Have No Soul. You Are Not You.
How do you go about your life as this? Convinced yourself that you Are you, but you're not. You're a perfect copy. Do your friends accept you as you? Are they weirded out by you? Do people mourn you while you stand in front of them convinced you're still alive?
Somewhere out there, Tamriel's most powerful necromancer has your corpse. What is he doing with it? Was it discarded without care, or does it serve him personally? You can't do anything about this.
And then you Do recover your soul, at long last, but the body is still not yours. You're inhabiting the body of a stranger that knows you Perfectly. Now go on and live your life, Vestige.

YES. I KNOW YOU DO! BUT DO YOU KNOW THE HAT TRICK? NO?
Literally! They are potato chips. Hear me out. (below cut)
Most "hard to draw" hats - y'all know which - ALSO fall into a very specific category. The category is:
That's right: A wide circular brim on top of a crown (or "egg stuck through portal" depending upon how you interpret the above). SO why the hell are they so complicated to draw? The answer:
...MEN.
No, really. So "the most basic hat shape" became a SUPER inconvenient style for 1700s European/colonial people men of means for two reasons:
1) it did not conveniently allow display of FANCY WIGS, which were beginning to come into fashion between the 1600s-1700s;
2) it was obnoxious to carry wide-brimmed hats around - a bit of a problem, since European societal norms dictated hat removal when a gentleman went indoors.
AND SO...the "most basic hat shape," ubiquitous in Western European cultures for some time prior, got upcycled by cocking (folding up) the brim. We first got the cavalier hat:

...BUT I CAME HERE FOR CHIPS
And chips you shall have.
You see that brim on Preston's hat? That's one of these (which my wife has informed me is known as a "wish chip" - I have learned something new, thank you @twosides--samecoin):
The thing to keep in mind is that, like a potato chip, this whole brim situation is just a circular plane with a hole in the middle, folded over on one side. See those shapes above? Now see them below, on the cocked side of the brim:
...WHAT ABOUT HANCOCK'S HAT
Well, around the 1700s, our male trendsetters decided it wasn't enough to turn up one brim; it needs must be Fancier™, and show More Wig, and be More Convenient With Which to Use Firearms - and we got the cocket hat (if you're Scottish)/bicorne, as well as the cocked hat (later known as the tricorne). Same circular brim, but for a tricorne, folded up thrice:
And yet again, this is just a potato chip. Observe:

Honestly, this works for so many kinds of hats. You can literally trace potato chips to make all of this easier until you become more familiar with the shapes (or just for fun):
As someone who has worked in a call center this is an excellent strategy.
-The people answering the phone have zero control over the policy. Don’t yell at them. The job is mostly getting yelled at for stuff you have no control over.
-Call centers have very strict rules about when and why you are allowed to disconnect a call. Being polite and confused absolutely does not qualify. They have to spend that time with you.
-In call centers, call times are strictly monitored. You have goals to get through. Slowing down those times, while being polite, and increasing wait times makes the bosses notice. The bank call center I worked for our call average was supposed to be 2 minutes. When everyone’s average went up because of something happening, management noticed. And did not enjoy it because on slow call days they could let people sign up for “early outs” so you could leave and they didn’t have to pay you. When the phones are slammed and call times up, you have to pay more. You are probably looking at overtime pay for a chunk of staff. Something they really don’t want to do.
-These polite interactions often get taken more seriously than someone screaming. Screaming can get dismissed as “irrational” or something. But “I am a customer and don’t understand this, can you explain it?” And then multiplied by thousands? That gets logged. That gets discussed. That can’t be ignored that a lot of customers are asking for answers.
-It also messes with their money making. Most call reps have a sales goal. They have to try and pitch products to callers. Hard to accomplish that successfully when every caller can’t figure out why they can’t buy stuff through previously ok vendors and also can’t get an answer. Why would I upgrade when I can’t get basic answers?
“I tried to purchase and it was declined” they can see if that is true. So try and get a transaction declined if you are going to say that. Give your call, and therefore your complaint, credibility.
Or!
Go with “I saw something in the news but I don’t understand. Can you help me understand what the policy is?” Bonus say you know it is always best to get information direct from your financial institution.
I have no strong feelings about Hamilton the musical one way or another, but the sentence "I wasn't aware that was something a person could do" is such a perfect way to precisely express the kind of "not judging, just baffled" response people sometimes inspire in me with their antics and activities.
