So! I present three lesbian flags. They were kindly presented to me as options that are 1. doable from a technical point of view - I can procure these colors without too much problem, unlike the Lipstick flag, and 2. are actually used by lesbians and have positive and inclusive symbolism. I chose not to choose between them: I am pansexual, not a lesbian, so I don’t think I have the right to. Customers will decide the one they prefer. :)

I made the demigirl hoodie for my model, but I also offer demiboy, demigender and demiandrogyne on the same listing. I also made demi-ace for my model, but demi-aro is on the same listing.

Just as last time, all my models are what they’re showing! It is very important for me to show actual people wearing their colors with pride. Most of them are friends and acquaintances who answered my call, one of them I recruited from a local center. Also I got more plus-size models this time! It just happened this way, but I’m glad I can show more sizes this time!

With these added to the first collection, I now have 20 Pride flags in my shop. If yours isn’t there, or if you prefer another version of a flag I make, just poke me for a custom one! As long as I can procure the right colors on the right fabric, I can make something for you - and it’ll probably be about the same price as a hoodie with the same number of stripes.

(PS: The first stripe on the first one looks quite red on the picture, but it’s actually a red-ish dark orange, I swear. I’m still looking for a more orange-ish dark orange. I’m also still shopping fabrics to offer the 7 stripes version of the orange and pink lesbian flag, but this might take a bit of time. Please bear with me until then, I’ll post news when I can do it. :) )

My fellow Canadians, I request you sign this asap. It should have enough signatures to be looked at (possibly even presented in the House?) but the more support we can get behind this, the better. Our country isn't great, I don't believe we are a bastion of fairness or whatever the language used in this petition was, and I think we should completely break the "safe third country" agreement with the U.S. entirely, but this would still be better than the current situation.

This is a petition to allow 2SLGBTQIA+ refugees from the U.S. to claim asylum up here in Canada. It needs to be signed. The fact we have to do a petition for this because our current liberal government is more conservative than Harper's is a travesty, but at least other Canadians are seeing the need to let refugees from the U.S. come up here.

Slowly getting better (emphasis on slow, burnout recovery is no joke) so I reopened my Etsy with the Pride collection and simple items only. My own shop is still fully open with longer delays, but they're getting shorter.

hi, i’m a workplace safety person and i would like to further emphasize:

even if you’re used to heat, please understand that high humidity changes things drastically. your body’s ability to thermoregulate (cool itself down) is largely dependent on sweat evaporation. this is an interaction of physics; when a liquid evaporates, the surface it evaporates from is cooled down by that state change. when it’s very humid, sweat doesn’t evaporate as efficiently, so your body isn’t able to manage your internal temperature very well.

in occupational safety, we consider both the temperature and humidity together in a measurement called the heat index. basically, as the humidity rises, the “temperature” rises to reflect the added danger from the increased difficulty of thermoregulating. here is a chart from the national weather service:

the top axis is the measured temperature, and the left axis is the humidity. so if it’s 90° out and the humidity is 75%, the heat index is 109— or, put another way, if humidity weren’t a factor, it would effectively be 109°.

do not underestimate the heat. if you start feeling sick or light-headed, immediately get out of the sun, get somewhere air-conditioned (if possible), sit down, and sip cool water. if at all possible, do not get up again until you’ve been feeling better for 10 full minutes, and take it slow after that. if you don’t feel better, or if you start to feel worse, seek medical attention immediately.

when you’re dealing with heat stroke, minutes matter. your brain is starting to cook inside your skull.

When I took these, it was about 109 with 37% humidity (which is EXTREMELY humid for the desert) and I had been walking around for a couple hours when my friends noticed that I was bright red and not sweating. I felt fine, until I sat down in an air conditioned car and realized that I was dizzy and shaky and felt like I was going to throw up.

If you are going to be exposed to dangerously high temperatures, set a timer for yourself once an hour to check in. Look in a mirror, take your pulse, feel your forehead, MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL SWEATING (if you're not sweating in temps like this you're potentially dangerously overheated or dangerously dehydrated) - basically pause for a few minutes to verify that you still actually feel okay because when the heat index is super high you *already* feel so miserable that you might miss the fact that you are showing symptoms of heat exhaustion.

Some things you can do to reduce your chances of experiencing heat exhaustion in a heat dome event are:

Stay hydrated

Keep electrolyte powders, chews, or capsules handy to supplement lost electrolytes. Make sure that whatever electrolyte supplement you're using includes sodium and does NOT include B or D vitamins (you're going to have to take multiple doses if you're outside for hours and you don't want to have to worry about limiting your sodium based on how much Vitamin D you've taken)

Plan downtime - give yourself a few minutes to recover and rest as best you can every hour you're in the heat

Wear lightweight, loose, breathable clothing

Spend time in the shade, carry an umbrella to make shade if there is no available shade where you're going to be

Avoid activity during the hottest parts of the day

Make use of a cooling towel; these work by soaking up water that cools by slowly evaporating, they are less effective in high humidity.

Use high SPF sunblock - this won't prevent heat exhaustion but a bad sunburn can make it harder to recover from heat exhaustion

Make it a point to check in on people around you as well as checking in on yourself.

If you interact with your local unhoused population, make sure that you know where your local cooling shelters are. If you are able to, get a case of water bottles and stick them in the freezer now so that you have bottles frozen and ready to hand out to people who don't have a place to cool down.

Also, something that doesn't get talked about enough -- there are a LOT of meds that can increase your risk for heat illness and in a variety of ways. Some big ones include:

SSRIs

Stimulants, including ADHD meds

Beta blockers

Some antipsychotics

But there are seriously so many. Here's a link to a CDC page with a more complete list of meds to be aware of. If you're taking these - especially if you're taking multiple, like me - be extra cautious on hot days!

Hiiiiiiiii do you want to tell off a company that's small enough to actually listen but not so small that you worry about ruining a person's life?

Look at this email I just got.

Go yell at Colourpop (they also have active pages on tiktok and instagram).

Maybe something like "You claim to be cruelty-free to animals, but what about the real-life humans you're harming? The money this collaboration earns goes directly into pet projects of JKR's, like the recent ruling of the UK Supreme Court that stripped countless trans people of basic human rights."

Maybe throw in a "you've got to be kidding me" or a "less than a month from Pride? And you didn't even do anything for trans day of visibility! Your 'inclusive' marketing rings very hollow when you do things like this."
