[9:07am] The second you pull back the curtains to bring some light into the living room in the morning, you’re hit with the blinding white light of snow. Unmistakable snow.
Your first instinct is to run straight out into it – until you remember you’re still in your pyjamas and you’ve only been awake for a matter of minutes. And Ten is still fast asleep in your bedroom, unaware of the fact that the city is covered in a blanket of snow. It certainly had been cold enough to snow the last few days, though, and the both of you knew it was only a matter of time before it actually did.
Ten. He’d have to see this.
You don’t even bother with the niceties as you kneel on the bed beside him and shake him awake – gently, so he doesn’t get a scare. He blinks up at you, half asleep. “Are you okay?” is the first thing he asks.
“It’s snowed!” is what you say. You point to the window of your room where you’d pulled back the curtains to showcase the snow. He looks over at it, sits up a little to get a better look, then hums and lays back down in the bed.
“Too cold.”
He wraps an arm around you and pulls you back to him.
“No, no,” you try to pull away, “come out in the snow with me!”
Ten shakes his head and closes his eyes. “No, you’ll get cold.”
“But then we can come back inside and warm up in front of a heater together.”
He stays silent for a few moments and you almost think he’s gone back to sleep. “Or we could stay here and stay warm and not have to get cold at all.” He suggests quietly.
You pout at him and poke his cheek with a finger. “When did you stop being fun?”
Ten’s eyes open again at that. There’s a different look in them, but there’s no chance to even see what the look is before he’s sitting, up, shoving the blanket off of himself and heading to the wardrobe to grab a coat and sweatpants.
“What are you doing?” You look at him from your spot on the bed.
He pulls on the coat and zips it up. “Being fun. Last one outside has to cook breakfast.”
And with that, he tugs on the sweatpants, grabs a pair of gloves and a beanie from the top drawer and hurries out of the room. You barely even have time to react to his change of mood as you run to the wardrobe yourself, grabbing your own warm clothing.
“This isn’t fair! You got a head start!” You yell after him.
You can hear his laughter. “Yeah, but you still love me!”
Yeah, you do.
