So this is what trust looks like.
Funny, my first thought was “So this is what the patriarchy looks like.”
Yup. This is how women are supposed to trust men. With their lives.
Woman : “Hey, can we just… Drop the bow?” Man : “WHY DON’T YOU TRUST ME I’M NOT A VIOLENT GUY, YOU ARE INSULTING ME THINKING I WILL HURT YOU!!!” Woman : “No it’s just… Well I’m afraid.” Man : “But why? Look at me, I’m not afraid. And we’re equal, look, we pull the bow together.” Woman : “I think we’re not equal, you can kill me with the arrow and I can’t.” Man : “What? So you would like to be able to kill me? You’re so agressive!” Woman : “That’s not what I mean, we were talking about equality : you can hurt me, I can’t.” Man : “Of course you can. You can hit me with the bow if you want.” Woman : “That’s not the same thing, it will never kill you.” Man : “Oh, you always complaining, stop victimising yourself! Do I talk about the difficulty of holding the arrow? Of the responsability it giving to me?” […] Etc, etc. Every debates about gender equality, ladies and gentleman.

So as a division officer to nearly 60 sailors over 3 years. I asked every single one. “What made you join the Navy?” Here is the breakdown. 80% - To pay for college 10% - To get out of a bad family situation 5% - Family Tradition 5% - Because of 9/11.

The great thing about being a parent when you’re having a gnarly mental health day is that you don’t have the choice to stop and wallow. You simply have to keep going.
The horrible thing about being a parent when you’re having a bad mental health day is that you don’t have the option to stop and wallow. You simply have to keep going.
Not sure if this question is crossing the line, and if it is—I sincerely apologize and please ignore, but do you think motherhood/pregnancy is overrated? my friends can’t wait to have kids, and our culture seems to hype it up, but the potential of a “destroyed” vagina, a “ruined” body, and possible loss of satisfying sex life just really makes me question whether it’s worth it or not. You seem happy and I’m not sure if that came naturally or required work but I’d like to hear your opinion
Oh come on now. Life will have it’s way with your body whether or not you have kids. Sure, carrying children will speed up the sagging a bit – but what toxic narrative are you allowing yourself to abide by when you say “ruined” body and “destroyed” vagina? If you decide to have children and any of your partners, let alone the one who put that baby in you, had the AUDACITY to say anything about the state of that beautiful life giving vagina give me their address and I will paint their house in buckets of my period blood.
There are tons of great reasons to have a child free life, and I think that’s a wonderful choice for many people.
Happiness is far from natural for me. I work for it harder than anything I’ve worked for, and I make decisions every day that require work. I’m exhausted and spread thin because I’m working for this happiness. I refused to let the world tell me that I could either have kids OR have a sense of self. I want both. And it’s so so hard. But it’s worth it, for me.
I can’t tell you what’s right for your life. But I think perhaps you need to pick apart some of those specific fears. Don’t have kids if you don’t want to - but don’t let the reason be that some fucking tools says it’s gonna “ruin” your body or vagina.
You caught me on a salty day. I want to set fire to the sky and everyone under it who makes women feel like this.
