how many times do we have to say that anakin was not using padme as a 'cover' to get power: saving padme was WHY anakin wanted power in ROTS, anakin never craved power for power's sake (him laughing in the meadow and being like: god I could never lead. sounds like a horrible idea), he always wanted power to help other people, particularly his loved ones; in AOTC he is frustrated that he wasn't powerful enough because he believes his powerlessness contributed to the death of his mother
anakin's logic is have power = save loved ones from horrible fate not have power = muwhaha rule the world.
