ɪɴ ʜɪs ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ , ʜᴇ ᴋɴᴇᴡ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴᴇᴅ. he felt as his mother passed on and became one with the force. still , to have the words spoken out loud stung. however , to hear them from a kind , soft voice did help. he couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen her only that he knew that once upon a time , he admired the woman. she was what true strength looked like , a strength ben had hoped to possess one day.
he flinches slightly at her touch , still not used to feeling anything other than harsh blows. slowly , his mouth curves into what almost appears to be a sad smile. ❛ i know but i ... i just really hoped it wasn’t what i thought it was , ❜ he sighs. he never got to return home to her. he was home , just like his father asked him to be but it didn’t feel much like a home without her. but ben had found a belonging with rey , perhaps a new home that was just her rather than a single place.
having another person who didn’t look at him suspiciously was brought him some sense of relief. not only did he have hopes that she could help him to atone for his sins but that she could vouch for the person he had once been.
