Hush Little Baby | Duo Quest | Seeker and Nemesis
"Awesome and all those other synonyms." Nemesis could only mumble out as she geared up for their fight. This could definitely end up messy if there were too many bats to attack them. The bats liked to attack in swarms and that’s what worried many who traveled through these caves, including Nemesis. "Yea," She admitted, agreeing with Seeker’s statement. "This quest wont matter if we’re dead."
As the first sighting of the bats came and the thing screamed out in what seemed to be need, Nemesis could only roll her eyes. The bats were upon them soon after that. She couldn’t tell how many there were, but there were a lot just for two people. She kept swinging her own stick, barely making any leeway with the swarm. They were definitely making leeway on her though. Her HP had already dropped by a quarter and she didn’t think Seeker would be much better.
Trying to keep her eyes on the attacking little pests, Seeker and their ‘quest item’ and her inventory, which she now had to open, was a difficult task to do. As the bats swooped down, her attention had to be focused on them or the whole reason she had her inventory open would be null. Nemesis tried, as fast as she could with her attention divided, to grab out some of her potions. As she killed a bat with a spare swing, she quickly chugged one, restoring her own health. “Seeker!” Nemesis yelled out, taking down another bat, one handed. “Catch.” She then threw the potion, hoping to hell the other would catch it. Her focus turned back to the bats, not having time to dawdle.
Okay, clearly the bats were definitely going to go for more than just the one with two free hands. Seeker gripped the wailing baby as tight as she could and started swinging haphazardly, keeping the kid as far from harm's way as possible. Given, most of her attempts missed, but she was not quite dead. This was far from easy, as the bats could sap at their health even more quickly now that she was starting to get weaker.
She heard her username called out, and looked toward Nemesis. Catch? Without thinking about it too hard, Seeker stuck the end of her stick in her mouth to free up her hand. And the good news was that she did manage to catch the potion, but the baby helped. Being used like a catcher's mitt made the baby scream more, which stunned a couple of nearby the bats for at least a moment to allow her to negotiate the less-than-adequate hand situation. Downing the potion and juggling her stick against her chest, she gargled, "Thanks," and then smacked at the weakest nearby bat with her hand. Had that been meant for the kid? Well, there was nothing they could do if she was downed.
Pleased with herself for managing to kill something and granted a second wind, she set to taking down the next with her actual weapon. This could be considered awesome if it was not ridiculous and painful. Seeker managed to take down two more of the bats during her part of the battle, and she could not quite remembering how that had happened, even immediately after. Something about pivoting on one foot and the baby spitting up on her shoulder to make her want this battle to finally end, but the actual killing was all but forgotten. "I'll pay you back- for the potion... When we're safe. Promise."
