Everyday that passes my school that was once a very inclusive and safe space has become more and more hostile and corrupt every new teacher that comes in, every student that transfers there. My school is a school that is used to represent the state i live in; for its unique system, i live in South America so things here are different even out of my school. the issue really started when covid hit and the problem was the rising hostility of the people at my school, starting with the students. Now the adults that work there stive only to silence the people that call out the teachers and other adults ignorance on problems from sexual assault to racism to homofobia to xenofobia to transfobia; and thats only scratching the surface. The problem here is that people do tell adults, but they simply dont listen or handle it horribly.
My bestfriend is a victim of this and so am I. He suffers alot of harrassment for simply speaking up about the short comings of the class leader and has gotten backlash for it. He called the classleaders little friend group which is favoured by certain teachers and got suspended for simply telling the truth. the truths he said? That the leader never sends the activities and assignments that are given when there are people that dont go to school, the favouritism, exclusion and harrassment of students and much much more. They gave shitty excuses and called him a liar and lazy. this was brought to the assistant principal and the teachers where called and no body let him talk and when he tried to defend himself, he got told he was suspended for three days for 'disrespecting' a teacher.
My story is that I'm not from the country i live in currrently and im from the U.S, naturally i have habits that ive never been able to let go of like listening to music in english, apparently is a problem to my classmates only when I put music in english. Not only that, when there are topics of socio economic issues where i live i often use the problems in the U.S to compare to the issues where I live, often with the intent of comparing and raising more questions to discuss. They apparently have a problem with it cuz Im in this country now and i cant talk about the U.S but apparently i can talk about places i'm NOT FROM just fine. OH I cant raise my hand and participate in class either cuz thats annoying and i make 'dumb questions' when im unsure about certain things. Oh dont forget the exclusion from leirsurely sports cuz apparently im not good at them and i ruin the game. ( not what other people have said to me but go off i guess). Ive gone to the assistant principle about this, but only after A LOT of persuasion from my friends, cuz i was a afraid that what happened to my friend would happen to me. After the assistant teacher was called she had a talk with the class, ofc they made excuses and lied through thier teeth, and nothing was ever the same after that; i tried to get along with everybody and not cause a fuss but as i said on the last post people looooooooove antagonizing people who're different ( other than gringo i am neurodivergent; i have adhd).
i really want to do something about my schools corrupt system and teachers but i have no idea what to do or how to start. Any suggestions??
