Okay. What if all kittypets weren't fact and clan cats were just abnormally skinny. What if they viewed a healthy weight as undesirable because it doesn't show enough signs of hardship and determination, something that clan cats value. If a cat is a healthy weight then they obviously aren't doing enough. They're lazy, because a true cat is always three meals away from starvation.

real especially because thunderclan would describe riverclan as fat because of their stable fish diets (at least early on, i lowkey forgot if they still do it) despite the fact that they still hunt and train and swim (swimming is incredible exercise) like the other clans

one thing i thought of was oakfur from the original series, who was described as very muscular, and as anyone who is or wants to be muscular probably knows, you can only gain muscle mass by eating enough

i figure the other clans (especially windclan) are really thin and lean because of their daily physical exertion where riverclan is generally bigger with more muscular physiques due to exceptional exercise and better access to food, being just smaller than the more-active-than-average kittypets, and from there even the healthy but less active kittypets are seen as fat because like you said, if they worked for their food, they couldn’t look like that
