Welcome, star shards, to The Library.
The name's Selendred. Or Star, for short. Pronouns are she/her.
Feautured fandoms: Sonic the Hedgehog, BATIM, Undertale, FNAF, AvA/M, and a number of one-of crossovers
My official art and fanfic blog
Hello star shards! Welcome! Let's do this for reals this time, yeah?
My name's Selendred. You can call me Star for short, however! (Or, if I ever get around to organizing it, any of my fandom specific names).
She/her, aroace, lover of all things stars, hearts, shiny, and pink. Angst and found family and platonic relationships are my specialty.
This is The Library! It'll be my main base of operations, from now on. Here is where I'll post my fanart, teasers, AU explanations, fanfic links, the works. This is where you'll find it all, so don't be afraid to hang around!
As for the fandoms I cover? Mainly, Sonic the Hedgehog. Some Animation vs. Animator, as well. And eventually, you'll be hearing about my Herculean efforts to make a Little Club AU, but that's neither here nor there yet. I also cover a lot of other fandoms, mainly with crossovers, so you'll be seeing some of them around! (Such as FNAF, Undertale, Bendy, Subnautica, and others).
Come here for a list of all my Sonic stories!
And hop on over here to check out my AO3!
And finally, I'm not the only one in The Library. I'll make everyone introductions later, but with me are Leonidas and the Relics! (You can actually find out a bit about The Relics in my Sonic AU masterlist)
You can also ask any of us any questions you want. What we do here, who or where we were before this. We'll answer as best as you can. (Interdimensional is also here occasionally, so we can also pass questions to him, if you have any!)
(And Asks for the Characters Are Open! Keep reading!)
Guess who's competing? THIS GIRL
And guess what AU we've got up to bat?
Thaaaaat's right! Two Motes of Golden Light!
For those of you who haven't read it, you can read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/series/3766681
For those of you who have, or who don't feel like you have the time to read it, fret not!
--Minor spoilers beyond this point, but also super cool stuff--
That is right! During Sonic AU Collision I will essentially be doing an ask blog where you can ask just about any character from Two Motes of Golden Light questions! Our motes are the main stars of the show, but here's the full list of who you can ask:
Sonic
Star
Fleetway
Tails
Amy
Knuckles
Eggman
Sage
Crane
Tiger
Snake
Dragon
Master King
The Kocos
If you don't feel like reading everything, you can just ask the characters to explain what happened. If you're confused on something, you can ask! If y'wanna give 'em stuff, feel free! And to my fellow AU Colliders, you are more than welcome to bring your AUs over to hang out!

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!! A whole animation!!!! Oh my gosh!!!
This is so COOL! My children! My babies! In animated format!! They're moving!! Visually!! They're tending to Dark's wounds!!! Gosh this is so cool!!
I love it so so so much thank you @astrinyx !
Dark and Purple look so bitty little!! The house looks so nice! King is so gentle!!! Thank you so so so much!
Back on my Sonic Snowdrift nonsense! I love the angst potential of this skin I really shouldn't be reading into.
In all seriousness, Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and happy holidays to whoever may celebrate something else or nothing at all!
This one was a whole mess to make because not only did I decide to do lineless, but I decided to do perspective, try a new way of drawing Sonic, draw him with his jacket half off (so lot's of wrinkles), draw him kneeling down, and decided to imitate the Sonic Channel art style, while also doing an outfit that requires me to figure out snow, fluff, fabric wrinkles, and gold.
So uh. I was. Struggling. But for all that struggling... I think it came out really good! Much better than my old drawing.
...which thinking about it, I should also post that. Oh well! One thing at a time. Enjoy the fresh Christmas angst!
Selendred!! I come bearing a new song that gave me brainworms about Chaos Tears (I'm normal I swear /silly)
The unfortunate part is that I can't find it in like, a good form other than on SoundCloud so SoundCloud link it is! If it embeds weirdly I'm sorry lol I don't usually use SoundCloud
Okay bye o7
Y'know, you're so so so gosh darn right. If I knew this song had existed before I could almost say it inspired this:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/50690389
Because that is exactly it. That is exactly to the point that Sonic is getting to post-Forces, during Frontiers. I would go on a ramble but I am not kidding when I say that the ramble was literally already written like two years ago, although through the lenses of heroes specifically. But what is a secret identity if not the work of a great actor?
(Also I absolutely adore the cover art Soundcloud has for this song, it is GLORIOUS).
(Sonic content!! A break from AvA for everyone who's had to tolerate that as of recently. Sorry :D)
While I get back from the HIATUS I've been in for Two Motes of Golden Light, I've decided that I can afford to drop a tinsy-bitsy teaser of the next series/work I plan to work on once I finish Two Motes of Golden Light.
Star shards, welcome to my Magnum Opus. Please. Theorize away.
She took the book from the display with gentle hands.
Briefly she looked around, as if crossing the street. But not actually, because she was inside the bookstore, the smell of new books filling the air, the sounds of the city outside muffled to whispers. It was empty inside, something she was grateful for, because she'd already gotten a lot of stares, going into the stores around here. People were curious about what a human was doing in a mobian neighborhood, and she wasn't about to explain to strangers anything.
Her eyes looked back down at the book. "So you're a parent, now what?" The title read. It wasn't any different from what she expected a human book on the topic to be, at least not outwardly, and she turned it over, inspecting the picture of the cat mobian that had apperently authored the book.
"What are you looking for, ma'am?"
She blinked. Turned around, and looked down at the bird mobian—a crow, she guessed—that had approached her. Based on the pin on their vest, they were a worker here. Figures they approached, she was the only one in the store at the moment.
She offered a nervous smile and vaguely gestured at the book in her hold. "Oh nothing, just a parenting book."
Nevermind that she had thought, after her youngest, she would not have children again. And nevermind children that weren't human. She knew how to be a mom already. What she didn't know…
"Oh!" The young crow lit up. Offered a gentle smile. "Adoption?"
It was the only explanation for why a human would be in a mobian bookstore looking for a parenting book. She nodded. "Yes. I want to make sure I can take care of him."
The crow nodded. Gestured for her to hand them the book, and after a moment, she complied. The crow contemplated the book for a moment, before looking up at her. "You might want a more specialized book in addition to this one. This is just parenting in general. But sometimes different mobian species have different needs, and this book may not cover them."
"Oh." She managed. She'd understood there would be different needs, yes, but her mind had mostly been on the culture, on the customs. Already she felt like she had overstepped on far too many things. It hadn't quite occured to her that aside from differences between humans and mobians, there might be differences between mobians and mobians.
"What kind of mobian are they?" The crow asked kindly, as they handed the book back to her.
She set it back down. She already knew how to be a parent. She'd done it four times before. "A hedgehog. He's a hedgehog. A teenager… do you also happen to have books on mobian culture?"
The crow nodded with a smile, and gestured for her to follow. "Of course! A good rule is probably to always ask about that, though. Mobians who grew up in the Zones hold far more importance in that than those of us who grew up in Countries."
She nodded, and made the note to ask. Already she knew he didn't like switching outfits, and he had given her a list of some of his favorite foods from the Zones, which was the other reason she was in the neighborhood at the moment. The books were a last second decision, but now, as the crow handed her a book on mobian hedgehog parenting, and then two more on mobian culture—"it's always good to have a range of perspectives"—she realized that it was probably one of the better impulsive decisions she had ever made.
As she stepped out of the bookstore, tucking the new books into her bags, she took a deep breath, and gathered her resolve.
She would do her best. For Sonic. After all he'd been through, all she had done, it was the least she could do, and the least he deserved.
Sorry for the back-to-back posting. I just needed to catch up on posting these. Here's the next one. This time featuring Takedown!
"'Cause I see your real face and it's ugly as sin, time to put you in your place, 'cause you're rotten within." Chosen paused, getting a feel for the words. Second paused as well, nose wrinkling up in that way that Chosen had learned meant he was doing some serious thinking. Based on the way he squinted at the music, he was probably trying to figure out how the next part of the melody went.
"When your patterns start to show it makes the hatred wanna grow out of my veins." Dark finished for them, plucking a half-rythm on her guitar. She paused to point a finger at Chosen. "Then this next part you take the lead, Cho. I don't think you're ready for the takedown, break you into pieces in a world of pain, 'cause you're all the same—"
"Yeah it's a takedown, a demon with no feelings don't deserve to live, it's so obvious." Chosen finished, and Dark snapped her fingers. "Yeah! You got it!"
"You… had this song ready, didn't you?" Second pressed, staring at Dark with wide eyes. Awe, Chosen was willing to guess.
"Y'betcha." Dark assured, setting the guitar aside and pulling her legs onto the chair. "Just waiting for the right moment. And the moment is now. A song to dunk on Corrupted done in a pinch. You can thank me later. Second, I accept payments in beef jerky."
Chosen snorted. Second valiantly tried to hide his laughter. But still, Chosen's eyes went down to the lyrics of the song, the written melodies that Dark had handed them, and something felt… off. Their job was to defeat the Corrupted, yes. Team Rocket were definitely their toughest opponents yet, and they made Chosen's blood boil, a sentiment shared by Dark and Second and all of Second's friends. But… the song screamed of an anger and resentment… older than this. Unless Dark was actually supremely mad at Team Rocket and was doing a noble job in hiding it, Chosen… wasn't sure where this hate had come from.
"If— If we can get it a bit more fleshed out, I could probably have a choreography ready in time for the Idol Awards." Second supplied, which ellicited a victorious laugh from Dark.
"Fuck yeah, Second!" She cheered, and clapped him on the shoulder hard enough he almost fell of the couch. "Sounds like this song is a go for the Idol Awards, then."
Dark's eyes turned to Chosen, their bright yellow almost glowing in the light of their studio. Chosen realized that Dark was waiting for her approval, and she huffed a soft laugh, setting down the music beside her on the couch.
Then she got up and cheered. Dark hollered with laughter and then hollered with a cheer as well, Second springing up right after her and joining in.
It'd be alright. With Dark and Second by her side, Chosen could be sure of it.
I just realized I forgot to post this yesterday. Woops. These prompts are not in chronological order for the AU, btw.
Anyways. Tumblr's spouse this way: https://archiveofourown.org/works/71840206
(It was up on AO3 already, so if I forget to post here, check on AO3! Chances are the day's prompt actually did get uploaded somewhere)
Dark popped the last of the cookie into her mouth, stretching as she walked out into the main room of the penthouse. Early morning light filtered in through the big windows, and she squinted at the orange hues, contemplating briefly going out into the balcony, because the cold morning air was sure to shock the sleep from her system.
But then her eyes landed on a bright ginger head poking out from behind the living room couch, and she pivoted on her heel, walking over and drapping over the couch and leaning her elbow on the kid's head.
That earned her a frightened squeak and a full body flinch. "D-Dark?"
"The one and only." She supplied, swinging herself onto the backrest of the couch to better lean on the kid's head. She squinted down at his tablet in his hands, humming. "Whatcha doing, pipsqueak?"
"Oh um—" Orange stammered, unable to look up at her, pinned beneath her arm as he was, but he fumbled to show her the screen, tapping the play button. As Dark watched an animation unfolded before her, a group of five people going through the choppy motions of what looked like… a dance?
Huh.
"…what do you think?" Orange pressed, shyly, shifting under her arm.
"It's beyond me." Dark returned. "Ain't my skill. Looks sick." She considered. "I have a question, though."
"Question?" Orange echoed. Poor kid really needed to learn to talk to his idols.
"That's a bit like choreographing, isn't it?"
Orange paused. Considered. Dark could basically hear the gears turning in his head. "I… suppose. But it's more than that, because I need to consider the angle of the camera, the speed of the motions, the sounds, the physics—"
"Good enough." Dark returned, and took her arm off the poor kid's head. She dropped into the couch beside him. "You're hired. Well, double hired."
"W-what—" Orange sputtered, green eyes whirling to her.
"Next song me and Cho get done, you're choreographing." Dark told him, nudging him with her shoulder before getting up from the couch. "Should be easier, less things to worry about. No… physics or whatever you said."
"Me?" Orange squeaked out.
"Yes, you." Dark confirmed, before waving him off. "Don't worry, you got this! We'll preform it at our next concert and everything. Good luck!"
Dark heard the way the kid sprung off the couch as she walked away. She just cackled as she drifted down the hall.
Kid had to come out of his shell, somehow. That would get him started.
So. For the AvA/M K-Pop Demon Hunters AU. Have The Dark Lord!! Or Dark, y'know. A member of H0LL0V/, the HUNTR/X equivalent in this AU, and... a sort of hybrid of all of the girls in terms of equivalent.
She's the lyricist of the group, like Zoey, and as good of a rapper as her. But she's blunt about what she's thinking, like Mira. Just. A lot more excitable. But story wise, she's much more like Rumi. Really she's more like The Dark Lord than any of the girls, and that's fine.
Also, yes, you all wish you had her eyeliner. Yes, that is her trademark. Yes, her fans imitate it.
I have two other sketches of her I'll hopefully finish so you can see her outfit, but she's my queen. Everyone respect her, because I have never been prouder of a character's design before.
Alright buckle on up. Two days in a row, let's see if I can keep this up.
(For those new: dedicating this sticktober to a AvA/M K-Pop Demon Hunters AU)
Some quick AU things:
Demons = Corrupted
Honmoon = The Net (It looks like wireframe mesh. It's still blue)
Orange + Green + Yellow + Red + Blue = The Color Gang. They're a band. Green is their leader. They won a competition and got tickets to H0LL0V/'s concert
Chosen + Dark = H0LL0V/. Read Hollow. HUNTR/X equivalent.
The song Chosen and Dark are signing here is Nightmares by WE ARE FURY. I don't have the time to write them an actual song and I'm also not all that familiar with K-Pop, so I just picked a song that matched the vibe.
"Imagine if we could collab with H0LL0V/." Green whispered to Orange, as they waited in line.
Orange looked back to Green, who'd done her makeup to immitate Dark's trademark eyeliner. Behind them, Blue, Yellow, and Red perked up, Red surging fowards with his H0LL0V/ light stick in hand.
"That would be so cool." Red prompted, to which Orange chuckled.
"No way that would happen." Orange pointed out, adjusting his H0LL0V/ shirt. He'd cut it so it would hang off his shoulder, but it liked riding back up, for whatever reason.
"I mean, it's not impossible." Yellow pointed out. "We've gotten this far on musical prowess alone. And Dark is known to be impulsive. Maybe if we make a really good impression…"
"If they'd let me bring the pie I'd baked maybe we would've had this guaranteed." Blue pouted. Fae had had to run off towards the bathroom before they'd join the line for the private meet and greets, because faer makeup had smeered during the concert.
"I mean, it never hurts to ask." Green told them, flicking her hair. "I think if we tell them who we are, what our dreams are, show them what we can do… well, we've got nothing to loose! Maybe they'll remember us, and when we make it big they'll reach out instead."
Orange chuckled as Red cheered, and then Blue shushed him when the people in line in front of them cast them weird glances. Before Red could complain, however, Yellow caught his hand, her other hand rising to point in the direction of a rooftop. They all fell quiet, eyes looking where she was pointing, and briefly, disappearing over the edge, they saw—
"Is that Chosen?" Blue asked, eyes widdening.
"That's why the line isn't moving!" Green realized, fist slamming into her palm.
"Why are they on a roof?" Red pressed.
Orange's eyes narrowed. "Yeah? And what was—"
"We should follow them!" Green decided, and caught Orange's and Blue's hands.
"What?" Orange yelped.
Yellow and Red sprung after them as Green dragged them to the alleyway, eyes landing on the fire escape.
"Think about it!" Green prompted. "If we ask them if they wanna collab during the meet and greet chances are they'll say no, but if we manage to catch them alone and show them what we can do—"
"They'll be more likely to say yes?" Red guessed.
"Exactly!" Green assured. She put her hands down, and Blue got the hint, taking the boost to climb onto the fire escape and kick down the ladder. How Chosen and Dark had gotten up remained a mystery.
Led by Green, they all scrambled onto the roof, but once up there, there was no one in sight. Just the sprawling expanse of the city.
Green frowned. "Split up gang. Holler if you find 'em."
Orange hesitated, but only for a second. Green was their leader, after all, and ultimately, even if her ideas were bad, they were fun. So after exchanging glances with everyone, they all broke off, Red and Blue rushing back down to scan the streets, Green going fowards, Yellow to the left, and Orange rushing down the path parallel to the streets.
He had to psych herself up to make the leap between the buildings. Not for the first time, he was glad that one of Red's hobbies was parkour and that he'd dragged them all down with her. Regardless, he kept going, eyes looking for Dark's trademark red hair, or Chosen's bright fire tattoos.
Then he heard the noises. Fighting? He slowed to a stop, confused, eyes drifting to the roof edge from where the noises came from, and he slowly snuck over, peering over the edge to see what was going on.
Only to almost get a faceful of fire.
He yelped and fell backwards onto his butt, staring up with wide green eyes as the dancing blue flames that had narrowly missed her faded to embers, the air still degrees hotter than it had been moments before. Her chest was heaving with sudden adrenaline, and she wasn't sure what possessed her to get up to her feet and crawl to the edge of the roof again, to peer over with the confidence of someone who hadn't almost been burned.
"…hope they're ready for a fight." Was that… Dark?
"'Cause they have no place to hide." Chosen. That was definitely Chosen.
Nightmare. That was the name of this song. Orange recognized it, and as he looked down at the scene, he found a fight. Chosen and Dark wove between bodies of creatures that Orange had never seen before, Chosen's hands lit ablaze in blue, Dark with jagged, glowing, black-and-red blades. Music surged from seemingly nowhere, and some sort of blue… net lit up where their attacks cut. And their attacks cut. Cut right through the bodies of the creatures, in time with the music, lights pulsing with the beat, the slices of Dark's blades and the roar of Chosen's fire.
"I look 'em dead in the eye." The two fell to be back to back with each other, exchanging glances, and Chosen's fists suddenly lit up with a blue glow, Dark's blades falling away to nothing to give way for balls of energy.
"'Cause in the night I come alive."
The music soared. Orange felt it in his bones, in his chest, as Chosen and Dark rushed fowards, tackling bodies, burning, blasting, attacking, springing off each other like they were halfs and together they made one. They didn't speak as they fought, and yet seemed to know exactly what the other needed, Chosen tossing one of the creatures in Dark's direction and Dark conjuring one of those blades to impale it without even looking.
"I come alive."
Orange mouthed the words, adrenaline subsided to amazement, shock, throughly captivated. He missed the way that glowing blue net shimmered beneath his fingers as he gripped the edge of the roof, instead staring with mouth agape before fumbling for his phone. It slipped from his pocket and clattered to the ground, and he swore, turning to retrieve it and then looking up behind him as the next part of the song started, muttering it under his breath.
"Nightmares in the…"
He met glowing yellow eyes and a mouth full of sharp fangs.
The creature dashed in the same moment his adrenaline spiked up all the way to his ears, and he dodged to the side, skeeing out a shrill "—NIIIEEGHTK!". He fumbled to grab his phone in the same movement, and instead his hands caught something else, the familiar shape of his stylus but warm and thrumming with something he'd never felt.
"They try to—" It was instinct, his mouth running on his own, hands jerking with the familiar movement of drawing, but bigger, grander, the energy between his fingers, tossing his whole arms into the movement "—take me down—" His eyes caught finally on the blue net, glowing at his touch, pulled by the tip of his pen, and with a final flick of his pen, he realized what he'd drawn in blue string turned into blue lines, his whole body moving on it's own as he swung with all his strength when the shape charged—
"When there's no one arougack—!"
The mace drawn in those blue lines connected with the side of the creature's head, and sent it flying. It hit the far wall of the next building over, and it's form flacked away to 1s and 0s as Orange heaved, his whole body trembling, in his hands still clutched the mace that had replaced his stylus.
The music kept going for the next verse, but stopped soon after, almost jarringly, unpleasantly. There was a hushed conversation Orange didn't quite catch as he remained frozen there, finally looking down at the glowing lines of the weapon in his hands, numbly noting that he'd never known trembling could be so noticable.
But then there was the sound of fire. The sound of footsteps landing on the rooftop. Orange looked up, just in time to see Chosen drop to the ground, blue flames having left scorchmarks on the cement.
For a full second, they all just stared at each other. Orange heaved in breath after breath, green eyes bouncing between the bright yellow of Dark and the red-brown of Chosen.
Oh shoot. It was— They were— H0LL0V/ was right there—
"Uh." Dark offered, cutting the silence. "…nice mace, kid."
