Sorry I'm new to the community; I know some places dont support aging up and im guessing that's what that thing was? (Personally it doesnt bother me bc it's like,, not real and an AGE UP so it's not attraction to a minor) I just- idk.. the tagging had me,, idk- calling someone a pedophile over a fictional character is a bit,,, idk..... (I mean I dont want to let go of my f/os qhwn I get older; I domt expevt to fall out of love- especially when they helped me cope /through/ sexual assault..)sorry

I try to avoid this discussion cause it’s very complicated, has multiple factors playing into it for every person and tends to be seen as pretty black and white for some people but I do need to address it now so it’s clear.

I said specifically not to bother the person also because we don’t know the whole story, how long they had known the character, if they are aware of their age in canon and if so if they age them up. I don’t blame you for being uncomfortable with the tagging but try to be mindful of people who are uncomfortable with that, for most of us the fictional characters we love/date/marry are very much real and we have real attraction to them which makes a big age gap (especially when the character in question is under 18) very iffy and I tagged it as such to not potentially trigger anyone. 

You are very right with the aging up tho, if you grow up with the character you are allowed to age them with you and create a seperate version of the original, which you can see as like looking at early pictures of them. The age question is difficult in this community because most of the time a character is static and doesn’t age much. That does NOT mean you are a bad person/ a pedophile, personally. I think aging up a character with you is fine to be completely honest.

Again, still people can be uncomfortable with that and that is fine! There are some people that find characters who are underage as an adult and THEN age them up which isn’t that gucci at all since the attraction started from the young version of them. There are some that either don’t see you growing up with them, cause not everyone is entitled to know every single bit about your life. Some think seperating the character from their source age is impossible. But as long as they don’t bother people who do age up, send them hate or death threats it’s totally ok with them to feel that way and totally okay for them not to interact with that. 

TL:DR- You are not a bad person for aging a character with you but people might still be wildly uncomfy with that and its fine as long as no one gets hurt.

Maybe tagging it pedophilia was a bit strong worded in this case and I’m sorry if it came off as accusatory, I might change the tag to “agegap tw” for now

Also you aren’t condescending or anything when you tell us that and we’re happy to know since we can’t be in all fandoms at the same time obviously knowing the age of all the characters is a bit impossible..
