Adventure for this week

This weird dead patch mysteriously appeared in the middle of the lawn:

A rabbit nest. The babies are like literally two squeaks old, they must have been born last night or maybe the day before. There are at least 3 of them, maybe more.

I need yall to understand:

The yard outside the fence has a nice prairie garden that has plenty of cover for a rabbit nest:

The yard INSIDE the fence is suburban backyard which belongs to the dog, and the dog's favorite hobby is murdering rodents.

Guess where the nest is.

This is now a callout post for Mama Rabbit. I am mom-shaming her for recklessly building her nest 2 feet away from the dog's favorite napping spot in the middle of the yard where there is no cover and reglar mowing.

Please wish me & the missus luck as we try to keep mom & babies away from the mower, the dog, and the neighborhood cats, crows, raccoons for the next FOUR WEEKS until the kits are independent enough to be safely moved.
