oooh caitvi brave au 👀👀

ohhh this is one that’s been steeping in my brain for awhile now. classic example of me just wanting an excuse to explore cass and cait’s relationship, but obviously, it would be difficult to do that w cass as a bear for 90% of it lol, so i had this idea to change the curse to cassandra being compelled to be honest all the time. starts off silly goofy, very quickly morphs into a pending geopolitical incident where cait suddenly has to take on cass’ old role and try to smooth things over with people (w vi’s chaotic help of course).

“How are you feeling this morning?” Cait asked cautiously, her eyes flicking up to her mother’s across the table.

The queen waved her hand at her, as if to dismiss her question. “Quite terrible,” she answered, and both of the table’s occupants froze.

Cassandra frowned, her eyes staring a few feet away from her as she seemed to register the words that had left her lips. As if she herself were surprised by what the answer had been.

Cait’s eyes widened, stunned at the seemingly honest answer in the stead of her mother’s usual dismissal of anyone trying to inquire how she was feeling. A slow smile began to spread across her lips.

Had it worked then? Had the old witch done what she had promised?

Clearing her throat, Caitlyn grabbed for a roll and tried to ask as casually as possible, “Do you think any of the suitors will impress at todays’ games?”

The queen tried to shake herself out of her stupor, turning back to her daughter with a thin smile. “I highly doubt it,” she stated. “They’re all rather unimpressive.”

As soon as the words left her lips, the queen balked, her hand covering her mouth as she nearly stood from her seat.

A giggle slipped from Caitlyn’s lips as she clapped her hands together delighted. “I knew you didn’t like any of them.”

Vi notices her immediately, because how could she not?

The woman looks immensely out of place. She’s obviously a Piltie - Vi can sniff out rich people from a mile away. Her dress looks tailored, her earrings made of real sapphires, and she holds her martini glass in a real high society sort of way. Vi has absolutely no idea what this lady is doing at a dive bar in Zaun. 

But hey, maybe she’ll get a nicer tip out of the deal if she flirts with her a bit. That Piltie money goes far down here.

“How’s the martini?” Vi asks, crossing her arms casually to flex her muscles. The proper types tend to like that kind of thing.

The Piltie raises her nose at that, her dark blue hair shifting to show a hint of grey streaks. “I’ve had better,” she says in that posh accent, but it doesn’t keep her from tossing back the last of it. The line of her throat works as she swallows, oddly attractive, and Vi is annoyed by how much it affects her. She’s always had a thing for mean women.

“Is that so?” Vi teases. “Let me make another one for you and I’ll make it better this time.”

The Piltie smirks at her, blue eyes peering at her intensely. “You’ll do it exactly how I tell you.”

Oh. She wanted it like that, huh?

16/24 scenes fully finished for pd au epilogue and we’ve just crossed the 30k threshold. i think the last 8 scenes will only take 10k to finish, but honestly, maybe i’m being delusional atp.

Hey Haleigh, is "It Might Not Be Real (It's Real to Me)" a Kiragray story, or did you already plan for it to be a fic with three ships? (Caitvi is sacred 💙❤️🙏) PS: I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my comments; I hope it's not a bother.

hiiiii, omg not a bother at all, i loveee yapping about this fic !!

the original iteration of this fic was just a kiragray oneshot, but i very quickly scrapped this because i really wanted kiragray to be a slowww burn. when i decided to expand into a multi-chapter, i knew i wanted to have an element of cassandra being a mentor. i loveeeeee fics where cassandra mentors vi, but immediately knew this didn’t quite fit what i needed for this fic because vi was going to be pretty young in the beginning.

when i had the idea of sevika being mentored instead, i knew it was the right direction for the story because it offered the perfect opportunity to also explore fwb melvika and childhood friends to lovers caitvi. so yes! all the ships have been planned from the beginning and all will be central to the story ! (it’s just taken a bit to get it all set up lol)

Hi Haleigh, I was wondering if Tobias will have any importance in the fic Might Not Be Real (It's Real to Me), like Caitlyn and Cassandra's family relationship, and his friendship with Grayson.(In Arcane, Grayson is like Caitlyn mentor.)

helloooo, yes! it's not super obvious right now, but the lack of tobias in the fic lately has been purposeful! cassandra really struggles with the balance of the two relationships at first because she's dead set on keeping them as very separate pieces of her life, so in the first chapter her and grayson are together, i wanted there to be a noticeable absence of tobias, but every chapter from here on out will have more and more of him as she figures it out.

actually really excited for a lot of the tobias content in the future! (small spoilers) but he becomes very good friends with grayson as well as vander, and he is a delight of a character to write and i'm excited to get to more of him!!
