new girl new girl new girl. well, the WIP of one, but still! a friend’s running an one-shot so i made a new tabaxi oc for it. i’m not too sure about her name but it’s something like rose carmin, also known as “the jaguar”. she’s a barbarian path of the ancestral guardian, and she gets a kick out of summoning her evil ancestors to commit good deeds - she respects their strength, not their beliefs (jaguars are kinda like aztecs in this one).

now, her design has got a lot going on. kinda added too much detail there tbh. she has got dragon tattoos on both arms (gotta fix them), feathers in her hair (i have to redo them bc i erased them), and her spots are lowkey supposed to look like roses (i… also have to retouch those). i also wanted to give her a cloak of protection made out of crocodile skin, and maybe throw in more feathers. a friend suggested to give her boots that made her fly and i was like… hummingbird-themed bootsies…

so… yeah. not much to talk about here. the year’s almost over. i need to update my ko-fi after all this time (current goal is very outdated) and start posting more. i was thinking of starting simple commissions next year, i’ll have to see.

How Socialism Ruined My Country

Many American millennials seem to be drawn to socialism. They came out in big numbers for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 presidential primaries. They rail against capitalism on their college campuses. They wear Che Guevara t-shirts to signal their socialist virtue.

I know a lot about socialism. I live in Rio de Janeiro, and I work throughout Brazil as a journalist for a popular magazine.  

In the early 2000s, Brazil’s economy was growing rapidly. The government had enacted economic and monetary reforms and divested holdings in some state-run companies, giving the private sector more room to breathe. Inflation—a chronic problem in Brazil—was dramatically reduced.  Foreign investors poured into the country, eager to catch a portion of our expanding economy. The future seemed promising.

But today, our economy is in shambles, unemployment and debt are massive, and powerful politicians are being investigated for involvement in the largest scandals of fraud and corruption in the country’s history.

What happened?

The socialists increased government spending, deficits, and debt. They called it a “stimulus.” They increased the minimum wage and the benefits of social programs. They called it “social justice.” They increased the salaries and retirement benefits of the civil service. They called it “investing in the future.” They handed out thousands of jobs in the government and state-owned companies as favors to their political allies. And they called it “good governance.”

It worked for a while. Socialism always works at the beginning. But government spending just kept going up, and then Lula’s socialist paradise fell apart and the economy fell with it.  The outcome: from 2008 to 2015, government spending grew nearly four times as fast as tax revenue.

The economy shrank 3.8 percent in 2015, the worst result in 25 years. That same year, a World Bank survey found Brazil’s economy to be one of the world’s worst. Out of 189 countries, we were the 16th hardest place to open a business, the 60th most difficult nation in which to register property, and the 12th most complex place to pay taxes.

Frank, Dilma Rousseff was rightfully impeached by the Senate for criminal budgetary misconduct.  She was not arrested.  Furthermore, her replacement was her own Vice President.  So, I have no idea what you are talking about.

That article is also from 2013 when she was in office.  It even attacks her by name.  I’m not sure if that was your intention, but you need to be more clear.

And many months ago, while I was still vice president, we released a document named ‘A Bridge to the Future’ because we knew it would be impossible for the government to continue on that course. We suggested that the government should adopt the theses presented in that document called ‘A Bridge to the Future.’ But, as that did not work out, the plan wasn’t adopted and a process was established which culminated with me being installed as president of the republic.

Clearly in the translation of “a process was established” meant her socialistic big crony government polices were complete dogshit which led her inevitably getting thrown out for corruption.  She was a crook her entire life.

Don’t bring me this conspiracy nonsense, Frank.  It’s embarrassingly naive.
