Anna: The Protector of the Realm

I came to the realm when I was only 3 months old. The realm thought that a puppy like me could protect them for all the evil. I was after all only a handful. I don’t remember much of my early days, but I remember falling into a hole once, I thought I would never come out, but the people of the realm had my back and pulled me from my tiny tail. I think, in the start I needed more protection than I could provide. So, I was allowed to sleep inside, with the kids in the kid’s area. (I could even pee and poo there then)

In the next year, I was already getting big. It was time, that I took my place as the Protector. So all day I use to sit outside and bark at every new person. I soon had quite a ferocious personality, perfectly complementing my looks.

I have not always been so smart, once I was gullible enough to go off with a stranger, the realm must have prayed a lot, because after a few happy accidents, I was back with them.

The years passed by running, playing, eating. I have seen the kids grow, from their schools to college to jobs. The king and queen were especially kind to me, since I was given the privilege to sleep in their chambers. In the midst of all this, I grew old too. I mellowed down but I still had my personality intact,

I left the realm to fend for itself on 29th Sept 2020. I know they will always remember me.

The mindfulness journey

Back in Jan’20, when covid was only a thing limited to China, I had other preoccupations. I was sad and angry at myself for not having done enough the last year i.e. 2019. I thought my life was not happening enough. I bawled my eyes out on the New years eve. My only consolation, my dear A. It was a massive meltdown. I never wanted to feel like that again. My year had infact been wonderful, I had a good job, a wonderful group of friends, I had travelled to atleast 3 new places, I had watched a lot of movies and read 18 books.

That crying made me introspect. I was too hard on myself and constantly comparing, the next day I deleted instagram. Mind you, not deleting the app but deactivating the account. In my mind I was getting too “influenced“, too much stimuli. Honestly I have been insta free since then and I hardly ever miss it. The next thing I did was incorporate meditation in my daily routine. I didn’t mean too, but the starting two three sessions gave me an instant kick. I was hooked. I am still using the Headspace app and on my 105th day streak.

So, in conclusion we do need to make some changes to feel better. I am not asking any one to delete their instagram to feel better. I am just saying it’s too much, and it really doesn’t hurt to take a break.

The Big Bang Theory

After spending 120 hours spanning across 3 months,watching the last episode of Big Bang Theory felt like bidding adieu to a friend. It ended on such a high.

The winners of the show are the characters, the underdogs, the nerds. It almost wants you to be like them. Just as all the characters couldn’t stand Sheldon in the start, I too developed a liking to him only in season 2.

I wonder why we can’t create shows like this in India. Afterall we do have a good nerd herd. Maybe nerdier and more socially inept that the characters on the show.
