While I think your point still stand, that parental abuse doesn't need to be physical or with an over the top evil parent to be bad, and that most of the time, the bad parenting from those DC parents (Bruce including) is emotional, Bruce has been, on some occasions, physically violent (in an abusive way, IMO) towards his children, Dick in particular.

ive never said abuse needs to be physical for it to be valid😭😭😭 i grew up in an abusive household trust me i know. bruce’s emotional neglect is off and that in fics i can understand, however, it bothers me when people try to paint him as this big bad physically abusive asshole when bruce’s struggles with parenting arent same.

also bruce wayne who hates criminals and protects innocents being physically abusive towards his children is part of a canon i cant accept lol. no one can deny that with comics a large issue is how often the change of writers make up new things to the point its up to u to choose whats canon.

i think about how years down when coco finally frees her mother and reunites and its happiness for a while but how then it hits her mother that even tho that is her daughter that is also now a stranger.

u dont simply resemble someone by your face but also your mannerism and i think of how much coco already resembles qifrey so imagine when her mother sees her child again only to see her imitate the mannerism of a man she barely knows. her mother left her knowledge of being a seamstress to coco and i think of how it would perhaps pain her when she sees coco reach for magic to repair rips and tears in clothes than her sewing kit. or how when coco is in the kitchen she uses magic to cook. or when coco says ‘home’ she means the atelier. and how coco is likely to reach for qifrey or olly for comfort and knowledge because that is what shes used to.

and how coco will have to grapple with this new world too. one where she cant tell her mom about how shes a witch and she must continue to lie. and how she feels off kilter.

how much they have to work hard to reach some level of normalcy again and to accept that the years (and magic) have taken something so important to them and now thwy have to repair it slowly

biggest shock of going from fanfics to comics was seeing how people mischaracterise tim and his rs with his family so much like this boy was LOVED. he had bruce wayne spend hundreds of thousands to send his whole class on a trip the moment joker returned to gotham bc he didnt want joker to hurt tim. bruce loved him from day 1 and took so much care into training him and not to mention bruce highly admired tim’s detective skills often commentinh that he needs to praise tim more often.

and like do i even need to get started on the brotherism that is dick and tim? people take away the closeness of their rs and give it to others like sorry but tim is the one dick was a proper siblinh to first and vice versa.

personally i dont think shane and ilya would put their children in ice hockey specifically bc theyd want to avoid the pressure it would put on their child of having exceptional parents in that sport. like its a curse to be the child of parents in a field where theyre considered to be the best and u decide to follow them bc ull always be compared and ull never measure up no matter how many accolades u pile up. so i genuinely see them actively encouraging their child into a different sport but skating is still their thing!

back to the “who should be the next batman” here’s like another take from me.

we will never see it happen. lol. in the main comic line the batman we will see will ALWAYS be bruce wayne. dc had opportunities to pass the mantle on and it didnt. bruce will never die. dc will never let him bc bruce wayne’s batman has become the face of dc and we can’t do anything about it atp. we will see various spin off comics of else worlds where we will see his children take up the mantle in a world where he died (as we already see right now) but im afraid it won’t happen in the main comics.

so in the end, the fight about this is ridiculous.

but also Cass has my vote 🙏
