In all seriousness, I cannot stress enough how much focusing on digestive health has helped my mental health and how much of a difference it’s made overall. It’s estimated that 90% of serotonin production is in the digestive tract. It’s something that isn’t thought of as being as important to mental health as therapy and meds (which can affect gut health as well) but even making small changes, I saw big results mental health wise and my general mood.

specifically it’s gut bacteria that produce all that serotonin!! this whole article is really fascinating but this part kind of blew my mind:

theyve done studies on humans as well that indicate the same thing – our stress responses are directly linked to our gut bacteria. this explains why over half of people with Crohn’s and IBS have depression & anxiety!

theres so much interesting new science about how our microbiome directly affects everything from our metabolism to our mood, so the point is, eating well is really important.. and i dont think its a coincidence that healthy food is one of the first things poverty takes from us.

Gods, Chrome got an update that includes enlarged drop-down menus. Before, the options within the menu were about as big (or small) as the boxes for the different parameters. Now it’s like this… spaced out like hell which means I don’t see as many options as before. (Do you know what I mean? I can’t do English this morning.) Like, when I was selecting a colour (starting from the top), I could see the range between maize and black – now I only see maize to shale. That’s five fewer colours I see, all because the options are spaced out like that. I know I’ll get used to it eventually but right now I feel like it wants to slay me with its size. :/

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:

The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!

So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:

And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:

But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
