Some story details:
Anwen was raised as a muggle despite being half-blood. She was born out of an illegitimate love affair between an unnamed member of the Rosier family and Welsh-born Penelope Jones. The liaison ended as soon as Penelope knew she was expecting and preferred to retreat Anwen from the wizarding world altogether by giving her away to raise by a family friend, James Elmstone, who became her legal guardian. Penelope has been in and out of Anwen's life and her relationship with her daughter has strained significantly as Anwen grew up.
Since Anwen's reintegration into the wizarding world, it was agreed upon that her adoptive family be obliviated to ensure no breach of the International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy would occur. For Anwen, however, it meant being torn from the people she considered her family and being left with a mother she was getting more and more estranged from.
Her favourite professor is Prof. Hecat. She was fascinated by her experiences and tales, which inspired Anwen and made her decide to pursue whatever was needed to become an Unspeakable as well.
Sebastian has made her just as obsessed with finding a cure for Anne as he is. With the use of the Dark Arts somewhat ruled out, and the precise use of Ancient Magic still being an enigma, she would end up convincing herself that access to the Department of Mysteries would be the key to finding answers, further consolidating her professional ambitions.
