@serpentsnspells
The rumors were true
My friends! Starting in November, Iâll be taking over writing duties on the Wonder Woman ongoing comic book series. Consider this your official invitation to join me in Themyscira!Â
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Please Tag Coverage: @DCComics, @GWillowWilson
ACCLAIMED WRITER G. WILLOW WILSON BRINGSÂ
âTHE JUST WARâ TO WONDER WOMAN THIS NOVEMBERÂ
Award-Winning Author and Creator Returns to DCÂ
as New Ongoing WONDER WOMAN Writer with Artist Cary Nord
(BURBANK, CA, July 11, 2018) â Following DC publisher Dan DiDioâs surprise reveal on todayâs episode of DC All Access, celebrated writer G. Willow Wilson will be bringing her incredible storytelling skills to the shores of Themyscira as the new writer of WONDER WOMAN, beginning in November.Â
Wilson has won several prestigious literary awards, including the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story in 2015 and the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in 2016 for the Muslim-American character Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel. Wilson is also no stranger to DC, having previously written SUPERMAN, VIXEN and THE OUTSIDERS, as well as DC Vertigo titles CAIRO and AIR. She takes over the ongoing adventures of the Amazon Warrior this November with her debut story arc, âThe Just War.â
âIâm delighted to be writing such an iconic character as Wonder Woman and to be working with DC once again,â said Wilson. âWith more than 75 years of history, Wonder Woman has a wealth of backstory and drama to draw from, and I look forward to putting a spin on Diana and her supporting cast thatâs both new, yet familiar. Itâll be a challenge to do her justice, but I like a challenge and canât wait to get started.â
Joining Wilson on art duties for âThe Just Warâ will be Cary Nord, who recently launched THE UNEXPECTED (with co-artist Ryan Sook) as part of The New Age of DC Heroes. Nord is also known for his acclaimed runs on Dark Horse Comicsâ Conan and Valiant Entertainmentâs X-O Manowar.
When Steve Trevorâs unit goes missing in an Eastern European country torn by revolution, Wonder Woman immediately flies across the globe to help himâonly to slam into the brick wall that is Ares, the God of War, whoâs taken a strange interest in this conflict. But why is Ares acting so strange? Has he turned over a new leaf? Does Wonder Woman have a chance to redeem him? And just as importantâŠif Ares has returned to Earth, then what happened to the supposedly unbreachable prison built to contain himâWonder Womanâs homeland, Themyscira?
âWillowâs return to DC to write WONDER WOMAN is an incredible opportunity for us, and we couldnât be more excited,â said DiDio. âKeeping our core audience engaged requires having the best storytellers around, and sheâs definitely a great addition to our current list of writing talent.â
Part one of âThe Just Warâ begins in WONDER WOMAN issue #58, on sale November 14. For the latest news from DC, download the DC All Access mobile app, available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.Â

in five minutes of thinking i was legitimately scared at how easy it would be for me to write a sunstone style romance involving harley and ivy, all while acknowledging and using every bit of their long established lore and characterization.

Hawkeye (2012) #6
#okay so one reason i love this is clintâs little head tilts#because yes precious and adorable#but also itâs a fairly common habit for people with hearing problems#you kind of try to get a slightly better angle without being obvious about it#so now knowing what we know of fractionâs take on clintâs hearing loss#knowing that he was deafened as a child and then had some degree of hearing restored#but not 100% hence his difficulty with foreign languages sometimes#it makes perfect sense that heâs like âuh what is this my ears or your accentâ (x)
Thereâs a level of optimism that goes along with her character, and kindness. To me, itâs more about her being kind and compassionate than just being good.

Amazons Attack! - part 1
Once upon a time, in the lead-up to the 2005-2006 cesspool of a crossover event that was âInfinite Crisisâ, DC had plans for a miniseries called âAmazons Attack!â. The story was to be helmed by then-Wonder Woman writer Greg Rucka and artist Ethan Van Scriver, and it would deal with a conflict between the Amazons and the United States following Dianaâs killing of Max Lord (and, presumably, building off the simmering background tensions between the two nations since the floating islands of Themyscira had crashed into the ocean off the coast of the US in early 2004).
The idea was nixed, but it never entirely went away. Over the next few years, it passed through the hands of numerous people at DC before finally landing in the lap of Will Pfeiffer in late 2006. By this stage, the original proposal was no longer feasible. The Max Lord story had been resolved, Themyscira had retreated entirely from the mortal plane, and there was no longer any interaction between the Amazon and American peoples.
But that wasnât gonna stop DC from achieving their glorious vision of man-hating harpies attacking the US capital with swords and pointy sticks.
Around this same time, somebody else in the company had a genius idea. Jodi Picoult, a bestselling author with a strong following among women readers, had just released a new novel about family relationships and trauma, and one of the main characters happened to be a comic book artist. Why didnât they find out if Picoult was interested in writing an actual comic and, you know, lending DC some of that New York Times Bestseller cred?
Picoult wasnât sure. She didnât know if she had the time, let alone the interest, in the project. Sheâd never been much of a Wonder Woman fan. But her kids talked her into accepting, and so, with no previous comic writing experience and far too little editorial guidance, Jodi Picoult set out to make her mark on Wonder Woman.
Together, Picoult and Pfeiffer would craft one of the most widely-derided stories in Wonder Womanâs history. There would be crimes against the written word. There would be character assassination on a mass scale. There would be bees.
