Solidarity Supply DISTRO: who we are and what we do
We are a coalition of communists, anarchists and socialists who are organizing around the principle that pandemic is political. While the owning class - people like your boss, your landlord, and most politicians - can afford to work from home, self-isolate, and pay for treatment, we, the workers, don’t get that option. If we don’t work, we can’t pay rent; if our hours are cut, or the schools we send our kids to close, we’re left to fend for ourselves, and all this while the class who makes those decisions sit comfortably at home.
We know that the whole damn system is responsible - what the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed is not anything new, it’s just an intensification of contradictions that were always here. The rich get richer and protect themselves. while the people whose labor produces their wealth are hung out to dry. So we’re organizing to help meet the basic needs of our comrades in this time of crisis, and working to build resilient structures of working class power that can continue to fight back against a system that depends on our exploitation.
Right now, we distribute free supplies to the people who need it. We distribute these during our weekly serve, every Monday at 5:30 PM at Make Shift Boston and by delivering to the people who can’t make it to our serve. We run these distributions to serve the people in ways that we can, but also because we understand the need to build political power and advance towards revolution. In order to do that, we need to get organized as the oppressed and build our ability to fight back; and in order to do even that, we need to survive. We are influenced by the Service to the People programs of the Black Panther party, Who understood that, while the problems facing the masses will not be solved without revolution, it’s the responsibility of militants to ensure the survival of the people until that moment comes; they called these programs “survival” programs, as in “survival, pending revolution.” We are not a charity, are a survival program. Somos una coalición de organizadores que se han unido en tomo al principio de que la pandemia es politica. Mientras que la burguesia - como tu jefe, casero o politico - puede darse el lujo de trabajar desde casa, autoaislarse o pagar el tratamiento médico, nosotros, la clase trabajadora, no tenemos esa opción. Si no trabajamos, no podemos pagar la renta; si nuestras horas se cortan, o si las escuelas a las que enviamos a nuestros hijos están cerradas, estamos jodidos. Todo esto mientras la clase que toma esa decisión se sienta cómodamente en casa.
Todo el sistema capitalista tiene la culpa - los problemas que ha revelado la pandemia de COVID-19 no son nuevos, son solo una intensificación de las contradicciones que siempre estuvieron aqui. Los ricos se hacen más ricos y usan el estado para proteger su capital; nosotros, cuyo trabajo produce su riqueza, se nos deja pasar hambre.
Debido a esto, estamos trabajando juntos para ayudar a nuestros compañeros a satisfacer sus necesidades básicas y construir estructuras resistentes del poder proletario para luchar contra un sistema que depende de nuestra explotación.
Por ahora, distribuimos suministros básicos a las personas que los necesitan. We are anti-capitalists. The COVID-19 crisis has only revealed contradictions which have always existed within capitalism; we are united against a system which is killing us.
We are anti-imperialists and anti-racists; this crisis extends far beyond the borders of the u.s. settler state, and like any economic or political crisis, its impacts are felt most directly by colonized and oppressed peoples.
We build solidarity, not charity; we need mutual aid programs, run by and for the oppressed masses, to survive this crisis. iSolo el pueblo salva al pueblo!
We serve the people! It is the people who make history, but there can be no revolution without bread.
