One last barrier to lower and Kihanda would be only steps away from the emperor. From ending all of this. Her quest started so long ago, had spanned across multiple worlds and each new planet unraveled her fate’s tapestry. Each unwound thread a new lead, a string she chased to here, to Dromund Kaas. What fate laid beyond this barrier, she didn’t know. Despite that, now, more than ever, Master Orgus’ wish remained in her heart: spare the emperor, turn him to the Light.

A string of beeps sounded behind her followed by the whir of Teeseven’s wheels reverberating through the ground and tickling the soles of her feet. Kihanda processed about half of what he said before she turned towards him fully.

“What!?”

Another series of clicks and beeps. Doc was in danger, cornered by Imperials, and injured. They could leave and save him, but that would give the Emperor longer to prepare.

Kihanda’s heart made its decision and her body was quick to follow through. She was a few steps from the console before she began to hesitate. This was why Jedi didn’t form attachments, a voice whispered in her head. Would Master Orgus or Master Satele act differently? Would they not be so quick to let their feelings decide? But there was no way she could just move on as if nothing was happening, as if Doc wasn’t in danger. It was a Jedi’s duty to protect people.

In the end, the answer didn’t matter. The decision was predetermined from the moment she said yes to Archiban’s proposal, possibly even before that.

“Let’s go, Teeseven!” Kihanda hurried past the droid, her bare feet padding along the cold stone. “The Emperor has waited this long, he can wait a bit longer. He won’t even know we took a detour.” She could only hope that was the case.

Teeseven led the way, rolling down one corridor that snaked into another. Kiha felt them before she heard them, the vibrations of their boots and lightsabers echoing off the stone walls. When they rounded the corner, it was just as the Teeseven said: Doc pinned down by Imperials. His hand was on his side and the other gripped his blaster, but the Imperials were already closing in.

Kihanda propelled herself across the chamber, the Force biting at her heels and urging her to strike down the Imperials in front of her. The yellow gleam of her lightsaber unleashed in a hiss, heralding her arrival. She landed, deflected the first strike, then cut the Imperial down. The others followed suit, falling one by one in a blaze of yellow and hissing heat. It wasn’t until the Imperials laid motionless on the ground, the distinct scent of cauterized flesh raising from them, that the white hot fire that welled in her stomach abated. How many dead laid in her wake? Would these be the last, or would there be yet more?

“Have I mentioned how gorgeous you look while rescuing me?”

Archiban’s voice pulled Kiha from her thoughts and she turned towards him, a shaky smile slipping into place. Her thoughts would have to wait. Becoming distracted now would risk too much.

Doc didn’t need the Force to pick up on the fact that something bothered her. He’d be more surprised, and worried, if there wasn’t a chink in her armor right now while standing in the pit of the Emperor’s fortress. For as infallible as the Jedi were, they were still human. Well, Togruta in this case.

Straightening, Doc stepped closer to her. “Hey,” his hand found the curve of her cheek, “you’re gonna be late for kicking the Emperor’s ass.”

Her hand covered his. “I couldn’t leave you. Teeseven said you were in danger.”

“Well, there’s no need to worry about me. Ol’ Doc will keep these Imperials running in circles.”

Considering she had just rescued him from said Imperials, Kiha was finding it hard to draw comfort from his words. Her thumb padded along the skin of his hand, relishing in its warmth and the safe gaze of his brown eyes. Somewhere behind them, she could feel the whir of Teeseven’s wheels along the ground, and even further away she could feel the presence of the Emperor like a malignant darkness. The only person she wanted to focus on was right in front of her.

Kiha took a step forward, bringing her arms up and around his shoulders to close the distance between them. They met in a kiss, bittersweet and brief, but it was a moment she wished could last. His forehead pressed against hers and she felt his hands settle on the curve of her hips.

"You love me as if I deserve you,” he whispered.

At first, Kihanda wasn’t sure if she actually heard him right. She looked up, curious brown eyes seeking his. Instead of elaborating, he kissed her again.

“Get out of here before I carry you out and ruin this whole mission. After you kick the emperor’s ass, we can both take a long vacation, just the two of us.”

Another weird dream but this time about a story I want to write. It’s partly inspired by the concept of a D&D-style game where you make a fairy and play as a mischevious fairy in a costume. It’s called Costume Fairy Adventures. I don’t know the full rules, and now I’m not even sure if this was an idea I had before or not, but my thought was (and what I ended up dreaming about) was that there was a girl who wished from the fairies that she wanted to experience romantic love, like a bunch of people try to win her over. And these fairies usually accept requests of some nature, but this request is a little out there so they think about it but ultimately say yes. So they arrange all these elaborate date like stuff where each fairy dresses up and tries to court her. However, no one is really supposed to fall for her, even if she does for them, and it’s all a game (probably in exchange for something valuable that she offered), but there’s also like this sinister force that’s acting and trying to do... something. I’m not quite sure what but in my dream it had ruined some of the events somehow and the organizer was pissed.

And I distinctly remember dreaming about a v hot individual coming to get me from my car and leading me away for the event even though I was in the middle of doing something with my mom, but it was like this magic they put on her to make her ok with me wondering off for a bit. 

Of course, if I wrote it I would want to include a bunch of different genders and sexualities in it and read waaaay more up on fae and appropriately include that lore.

What I’m getting from the influx of notes on that [Togruta hc post] is that yall want more of that, so here ya go

They do use birds to travel to different communities as well as to the plains where they hunt. When flying, they try to go when the winds are favorable in the direction they want to go so that they can fly in a line formation so their sounds can be tunneled by the air currents and picked up by the person in front. Backward communication doesn’t work so well but that’s what hand signals are for

They don’t hunt with the birds but, since some hunters have such a strong connection with their birds, they have been known to attack Akul beasts and any other aggressive animals. It is also not uncommon for a Togruta to place Akul teeth and other cultural symbols on their birds

When flying, the birds can really double as service animals for some of the Togruta. ‘Hearing’ is practically impossible while in the air, but Togruta can feel the biological reactions of their bird. In a sense, they become their ears while flying and the birds can work in tandem with their rider.

There are other service type animals as well. As a species with a strong emphasis on community as well as being able to sense the world around them through their montrals, it is very easy for them to develop connections with animals as they can feel how the animal is reacting. As such, many have animals that help out in the day to day, especially if a Togurta is physically or mentally impaired in some way.

It is known that Togruta go barefoot so they can pick up sounds better from their environment through vibrations. They have a deep respect for nature and waste no part of an animal when they hunt it

Gender binary doesn’t really exist for Togruta. They do have what humans would consider ‘male’ and ‘female’ in Basic but they also have a third gender, separate from those two, as well as recognizing people who identify as a mix or something else. 

Dancing and singing are culturally important for Togruta. The movements and sounds they create work in tandem to mean specific things in how their montrals pick it up

There is so little canon information out there about Togruta despite the fact that one has a leading role in the cartoons. Well, I have a few of my own headcanons

Togruta don’t have human-like ears as they ‘hear’ through their montrals and those work kinda like reverse tuning forks, or passive echolocation. This isn’t so much an hc as it is confirmed but it’s worth noting. Simply, this just means their montrals, which are hollow, pick up sounds after it bounces off of something else.

This rarely presents a problem, especially on their homeworld, but in starships it does. Metal is a reflective sound barrier and being surrounded by metal, with lots of noise going on, will amplify the noise incredibly. 

On their homeworld, this gave them a distinct advantage among certain wildlife and allowed them to rise up the food chain. The movements of other species were given away as they traveled through the plains, carried by the turu grass. This also alerted them to the giant Akul beasts

Togruta communities live in forest valleys where canopies kept them out of sight. All the more reason to develop hearing through location.

I’ve often wondered what kind of beasts they might have domesticated and my favorite thought, tbh, are birds. The trill-like language of the Togruta, known as Togruti, would be ideal for communicating with birds I think. And, as most everything is on their planet, they would be birds with brightly colored plumage to fit into their surroundings. More than that, they would be efficient ways to enter and exit their communities via flight

I’d like to think that voices at certain pitches ‘sound’ very pleasing to them, as would being in certain rooms depending on what material it’s made of

I think I read somewhere that Togruta evolved from a mostly carnivorous species with a wolf-like pack structure, instead of the primate colonies or herbivore herds like a lot of species. As such, their diets require at least some meat and Togruta often have to learn how to suppress certain predatory behaviors to get along with non-Togruta. But it also means that while they no longer organize in packs like animals, they have a particularly strong sense of solidarity and the commonwealth in the communities/societies they are a part of. This trait is what makes them good and often quite strong Jedi in spite of a somewhat more aggressive nature than most other races that join the Order. They also do quite well in corporate and political settings, where a predatory instinct combined with a strong devotion to their organization makes them rise quickly in the hierarchy. It also means that Togruta that go Sith are often the “lone wolf” types who have rejected the bond of community and have to be twice the vicious predator and work twice as hard to succeed without a “pack”.

oh! I haven’t heard this but it makes a lot of sense tbh. Specifically in relation to what I have read. Besides the fact that Togruta are known to have sharp teeth, and their strong communities is another point mentioned, it’s also said that Shaak Ti returned to her feral roots in order to survive Order 66. Being evolved from a carnivorous species would fit with this, imo.

Honestly, my lore is a little limited in a lot of areas of SW (there’s just so much to take in), but I really enjoy thinking about Togruta and how they developed
