I hate what elon has done to the blue check system on twitter, and that morons gave it unwarranted importance, when it only verified that the person writing on twitter was real, and for the record idiotic and disgusting opinions on twitter already existed, but they were at the bottom of the replies because no one gave a fuck about them.
Maybe this is woke of me or whatever, but I think the idea that feminism begins and ends with women making choices, no matter what those choices are, is deeply harmful to women.
Do you realize that in every misogynistic society, a substantial number of women choose to participate in that society? Some women were/are against women's suffrage. Some women were/are against women's right to work. Some women were/are in support of FGM. Women are half of the population. Patriarchy cannot exist without women's compliance. Women can and do make choices that harm other women on a societal level.
A core feature of patriarchy is that it creates a culture which incentivizes women to make specific choices. Whether that occurs by culture, religion, economic pressure, threats, illusions of choice, etc. is irrelevant. Our choices do not occur in a vacuum. This is why it is important to interrogate why so many women make certain choices. What factors incentivize that choice? Who benefits? Who is hurt?
If you can't stand to see women ask these questions, your feminism is going to fail.
It's hilarious to me how sakura stans assume anyone that hates her is a hinata stan and viseversa because they are both sorry excuses for female characters. kishimoto truly put all his misogynist hate into those two and to me, it really doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth that there's real life girls that like, let alone self insert into these characters.
Really fucked with me learning that when Michel Foucault first arrived at UC Berkeley his friends tried to warn him not to participate in the local gay bathhouse scene due to the risk of AIDS, but that he did it anyway because he thought that AIDS was just a social construct. And when he inevitably got infected with AIDS as a result of unprotected sex he refused treatment insisting it was a pulmonary infection, and he didn't get diagnosed until his symptoms were so bad that he was forcibly hospitalised.
"AIDS is just a social construct" sounds like the sort of thing you would make up as a parody of the sort of stupid shit a post-modernist would believe. But the most famous post-modernist in history believed it, and ended up dying as a result of that belief. And given how respected he was, other men probably also died as a result of believing what he was saying. I get that they didn't know as much about AIDS in 1983 as we do today, but it been around for a few years already, so one of the supposedly smartest men on the planet should have had enough evidence to be able to overturn the hypothesis that viruses are just social constructs.
The source of this information is Edmund White, a gay American author, activist, and AIDS survivor who was well acquainted with Foucault. White co-founded Gay Men's Health Crisis, a non-profit to address the AIDS epidemic, in 1982.
This is from a 2014 interview with White:

what TERFs don’t understand is that [easily debunked claim]!!! heres my proof!!! [opinion pieces][long debunked studies][more opinion pieces][straight up incorrect info][tumblr post by a tim with the literacy of a 6 yo]
you forgot the part where they go "many cultures had [homophobic practice] and [misogynistic practice]. Colonialism is responsible for [biological term] and transwomen are just [insert racist comparision between males and women of color by some white teen]"
i love kink shaming actually. yes I think it’s repulsive that you like role-playing that your gf is your 5 year old daughter while you two are having sex. no i don’t think that it makes it ethical just because you didn’t actually physically rape a child. die mad about it
"Woke" opinions/actions that I actually think are regressive
Believing that labels (regarding gender and sexuality) have no meaning and that you can use whatever label you like.
Sex offenders and rapists can be redeemed.
Kink (particularly BDSM as a sub) is empowering for women.
Assuming a 'masculine' woman uses they/them pronouns.
Women and non-binary people being lumped together.
The terms "uterus havers", "non-man", "birthing people", etc.
Believing that lesbian is an umbrella term.
Criticising Christianity for being misogynistic and homophobic, but defending Islam.
Believing that non-European countries in pre-colonial times were less misogynistic.
My hatred for white people is triplefying im not kidding
"That's racist" idc, proud racist.

SHE DID YOU GUYS!!!
it's insane to me that there are people arguing that jkr is worse than neil gaiman because they believe she contributes to systemic violence while neil gaiman's actions were just an isolated incident. women's words are part of a global conspiracy of violence but a man's violence against women is merely a self-contained interpersonal conflict
