12 Days of Christmas: Holiday Stage

You walked down the hall of SM building nervously coming to a stop in front of one of the practice doors. You closed your eyes and inhaled trying to calm yourself before entering. You still couldn’t believe that you were chosen to do a collaboration stage with Super Juniors Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun was a sunbae you had looked up to long before you became an idol. Even though you two had met before, and were actually quite comfortable around each other during variety shows it was the first time we’d be working together on music. And though you weren’t considered a rookie you were still relatively new to the industry. The last thing you wanted to do was make a mistake. You sighed once more before turning the handle and entering the practice room, immediately meeting eyes with Kyuhyun. You bowed nervously while muttering your greeting. “Hello, I’m really looking forward to working with you sunbae.” He chuckled “you know you don’t have to be so formal. It’s not like this is the first time we’ve met.” He replied “I know but its the first time that we’ll be working together.” I shyly stated “True but your an incredible singer I’ve been wanting to work with you for a while now, so don’t be so nervous it’ll be fun.” he added. I looked down trying to hide the growing heat in my cheeks. “Wow, you must really like me, if just a compliment makes you that red.” He smiled bending down pinching my cheek. I looked up playfully glared at him. “It’s not you, I’m just cold” I mumled gently pushing away his hand he simply nodded not believing my excuse. “Well then you should get cold more often, You cute when you blush.” He stated nonchalantly as he walked over and sat down by the piano. I stood there slightly taken aback by his playfulness until Kyuhyun spoke up “are you coming, we should go ahead and get started.” I nodded and smiled before walking over and taking a seat next to him by the piano.

After a couple weeks of practice it was already the day of the Christmas stage and honestly I was a little sad it was over. I looked forward to practicing together and our playful  banter back and forth. I sat down on the couch next to him in the waiting room while we waited to be called on for our stage. “So are you ready?” I asked he looked up from the cup of coffee in his hand and smiled “yep, although I am gonna miss practicing with you” He replied “really” “of course…your really easy to mess with, even easier than Donghae” He laughed as I playfully hit his shoulder “I’m joking, I really will miss working with you it’s been really fun.” He replied smiling brightly at you. “Well surely we’’l be able to have a collaboration again”  “And even if we don’t we can still hang out” I added “How about on Thursday then, we can have our own little Christmas get together.” He suggested “Yeah i’d really like that” I smiled looking down at my hands. He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. I smiled, I guess not having practice anymore wasn’t so bad after all.

He doesn’t argue because now he doesn’t need to do the awkward asking out bit

The two of you hanging out together whenever you have free time

And probably tag team sassing people cause that’s how you roll

Kyuhyun being embarrassed about public skinship so you insist upon holding hands and hugging him because awkward Kyuhyun is the cutest Kyuhyun

He probably really likes playing with your hair

He won’t admit it tho

GAMING TOGETHER

Which will lead to a lot of smack talk from both of you and him pouting whenever he loses

But he’ll eventually get over it if you admit it was a fluke though we all know the truth

You getting to watch him at his singing rehearsal since he always wants to have your opinion on every song

You probably having to be the one who drives most places for certain reasons

Kyuhyun attempting to make a big deal out of proposing to you

It’ll mostly go haywire, but that just makes it all the more memorable

Probably a small traditional wedding

The kind that goes by fast because Kyuhyun just really wants to get spend time with just the two of you

When the two of you make love you’re probably one top more often than not

Kyuhyun just really likes looking up at you

When you sleep he’s not much of a cuddler but he always sleep with his hand touching you in some way like resting on your stomach or something like that

Him not being the type to contact you when he’s away because he’s so focused on his job

And then he comes home to the house rearranged and he can’t find anything

Maybe he should have frickin’ called huh

You probably only have one kid

Your kid’s spoiled cause you know Kyuhyun’s not going to be the disciplinary parent because he needs to be the favorite

Just growing old together where he’ll spontaneously decide to serenade you

Even during all your old folks shows like shut the fuck up Kyuhyun

But he’s not going to because even as an old fart he‘s not gonna listen very well

You read your boyfriend’s text message a few times, slowly processing its content before angrily shoving your phone back into the pocket of your jeans. Kyuhyun had promised over and over to meet you at your favorite restaurant at 7pm. He checked his schedule multiple times to make sure nothing stood in the way of your date and asked his fellow members for some help on his current project so that he’d get it done on time.It was now 6:55pm and you had officially been stood-up. You were usually a very understanding person, especially regarding his job, his duties as an idol. He often had to cancel your meetings last minute or you had to part ways in the middle of your date due to fans spotting you outside and surrounding the two of you. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if it wasn’t for the special occasion. You didn’t want to blame him for it, sometimes things didn’t go the way you want, nothing to get mad about.

But this time, it hurt. After all, you were supposed to be celebrating your 500th day together right now. You’d bought couple bracelets for the two of you, they were simple but pretty, didn’t attract too much attention so hopefully, his fans wouldn’t bother even if he wore it on stage. You also got him his favorite cake from his favorite bakery in the whole of Seoul, you spent half of the day traveling there since it was located at the other end of the city. Everything was wrapped neatly and stored in a small bag, together with a handwritten letter to Kyuhyun. You put a lot of thought into your text, expressing your feelings and gratitude, thanking him for spending over a year and a half with you. You felt terrible, you’d spent the whole day preparing your gifts and now he wouldn’t even receive them. Sure, you could still celebrate tomorrow but it didn’t have the same significance.

With a sigh, you started making your way back home. Thankfully, your apartment was within walking distance from the restaurant so you soon found yourself standing in your corridor, taking off your coat and boots. As you entered the living room, a strange sight greeted you. You found a giant plushie, baby pink, in the shape of a bear staring at you. Blinking in confusion, you stared back at it, not breaking eye contact with the huge animal. You continued the staring contest until a soft cough from behind you startled you. You turned around to find Kyuhyun in the doorway, holding a bouquet of roses, grinning sheepishly. Your jaw dropped slightly at the realization that he must have had this planned.

“I can’t decide if I want to kiss you or kill you right now,” you mumbled. Getting stood-up on your 500-day anniversary felt so terrible. You were angry at him for lying to you but his smile and the fact that he just wanted to surprise you made all the negative feelings melt away slowly.

“Let’s start with the kiss and we’ll see if you still want to kill me after that.” You rolled your eyes. “You’re a huge jerk, you know that?” you muttered before placing your lips on his. You really wanted to wipe that smirk off his face but this would have to do for now.
