Guess who managed to push Frederick the Great to their philosophy history paper!
Of course, me.

I realized that I haven't posted about my finished Hans Hermann von Katte costume. I had such a great time portraying him. Hope you like it!

The Founder Effect: Part I. - The Schmidt Experiment
Charles Xavier is not feeling lonely anymore - after sudden death of his parents, he got a mysterious visitor from Austria. Dr. Schmidt became a real father figure to the young duke, definitely not to his sister’s liking. Raven’s problem is simple - why is Sebastian Schmidt collecting disturbing items such as stillborn babies? And what is in the big casket Schmidt tries hard to hide from everyone?
Note: We decided on using Shaw’s German alias, Schmidt. In this AU, he comes from Austria and this background is crucial for the character’s motivation and backstory.
In population genetics, the founder effect is the loss of genetic variation that occurs when a new population is established by a very small number of individuals from a larger population. - Wikipedia

Charles Francis Xavier
His Grace Duke of Westchester, honorary members of Academy of Sciences.
Born in 1730
Mutation: Telepathy
Charles is the only son of James Edmund Xavier. His childhood was pretty lonely despite being surrounded by nobility and servants. Little Charlie had only friend - nature. When we was eight he started to hear voices in his head.
At first his parents thought that it would be only some sort of child play. Later they got worried their only surviving child would be mad - they started to force him to hide his abilities to not bring shame on family name.
When he was ten, he made his surrounding believe that he had a sister - Raven. He met her when she tried to rob the kitchen. When he realised she was mutant as well, he basically adopted her and she used her metamorphoses skills to make everyone believe they were related. He finally got a friend.
Charles was a prodigy, he could read at age of three and he started to study at age of eight, attended Oxford university and wrote several well acclaimed books and botanical studies. Hundred years before Darwin he came up with the concept of evolution, although he never published it because religious public would never accept that.
His parents died under mysterious circumstances in 1745. At the same year he met a charming Austrian scientist named Klaus Sebastian Schmidt. Schmidt became his friend and father figure.
Although Charles is a psychic he can’t read Schmidt’s mind. The Austrian is definitely hiding something. And this is where the story begins.

Erik Lehnsherr
Born in 1726, Eastern Prussia
Jewish origin
Mutation: Magnetokinesis
Erik is the most dangerous being in the world.
But it could have been a lot different - his childhood was a dream. He was born to a local baker’s family in a Jewish quarter of a small town. As an only child he was loved by both of his parents. He was admired by all the neighbors for his unusual red-ish hair colour and mostly for his intellect. Little boy became quickly a favourite of the Rabbi who gave him a profound education in philosophy, literature and sciences. Erik loved his teacher and took him as a part of the family.
On the other hand, even though Erik has done lot of bad things in his life, none of them could ever compare to his atrocious baking skills. His parents still loved him though, and they decided to pay everything they could for their child’s education.
It changed one cold autumn evening, 13 years old Erik was walking down the street and saw bunch of other boys, beating an old dog. As an animal lover, he wanted to help. But he was alone and there were three of them. Something pushed him forward and he ran towards them. They laughed at the red haired boy until one piece of metal started to fly around and hit their heads. Erik was shocked. However the witnesses were even more shocked - a witchcraft! And done by a boy from a Jewish community!
In the evening, an awful pogrom was ignited by a foreigner - Austrian man called Sebastian Schmidt. He led the crowd and many of the Jewish houses were burned. Erik’s abilities showed again when he tried to defend his house. He couldn’t stop it though. He ended up imprisoned by Schmidt.
Schmidt tried to make Erik to demonstrate his powers - finally managed that by killing the boys mother in front of him.
Since then Erik was Schmidt’s test subject. In 1745 Schmidt moved to England, taking Erik in a large casket. The scientist settled in Westchester and became the best friend of the duke, Charles Xavier who never figured out his existence...
After 10 years of suffering and humiliation Erik will finally see the daylight... and that is how his story begins.

Crown Prince Frederick of Prussia.
How are we?
Bad. My Hermann the hedgehog got sick.
On Sunday I took him to the vet and she diagnosed him with Urinal Tract Infection. Hopefully.
He got antibiotics and got pissed for it
Forcing him into eating pills without noticing them was impossible. He’s worse than a dog.
We had to take additional measures.
And then he discovered urologic tea. That’s disgusting for people. Hedgehogs enjoy it somehow.
He might be feeling better. Yesterday he ate.
He even shared steak with me
Wish my beloved hedgehog luck!
Our dear Hermann is ill. Please wish him luck.
UPDATE: Hermann is alive and he's doing great!
His revenge was really harsh.

Seriously, Frederick the Great fandom sould have a meet up in Potsdam and call it Fritzcon and just stroll around the city, cosplaying and stuff like that, because it's totally the best fandom ever
Hey, guys! Figured I’d share two of my graduation presents here. They deal with Frederick the Great so I thought you might find them as interesting and exciting as I do.
Images 1 & 2 are two sides of a Prussian Thaler minted under Fritz’s reign. The first side shows him as the crown prince and the other shows him as king. I originally thought one side was him and the other was Elisabeth-Charlotte, but that was proved wrong upon further inspection and actually reading what was printed on it.
Images 3 - 5 show off an antique print of a portrait of Fritz done by Pesne around 1750, ten years into his reign as king. The 3rd picture is of the print in whole and the description of it. The 4th is a detailed shot of Fritz’s face. His hair looks puffy and abundant and his cheeks are so chubby. I really want to squish them, but I don’t think he’d be for that. The last one is a description below the portrait. I haven’t run it through Google or fully examined yet so I’ve got no idea what language it’s in. Just glancing at it, I wanna say it’s either French or Latin. If anyone finds out and beats me to finding the translation, please let me know and I’ll add it here (with credit to you of course!).
I’ve got no idea how my mom found these or what ridiculous amount she must’ve paid for them, those secrets remain with her. I’ve just been quietly (ok, not so quietly) geeking out about them to everyone I know irl and wanted to continue that onto tumblr
This is interesting!
Voltaire pissing the crap out of Fritz during That visit at San Soucci please I need it to live

Frederick the Great admiring products of human reproduction.

"Who invited all those humans?!"
Fritzi as Frederick the Great at one wedding.
Sorry for being dead recently.
We both have a lot of work and very little time for drawing and stuff.
Just have some Fritz. Because you can't be angry at the king, right?
