And it’s mine. You don’t get to take it away from me because you can’t take also away the scars it gave me while I was standing in front of my younger queer siblings in this community.

If my enemy swings a sword at me and I take that sword away from them, it’s my sword now. And the person telling me I can’t use it because it belongs to my enemy and I have to give it back to them sounds quite a bit like an enemy themselves.

I call myself queer because I feel it sits well within my chest, and reminds me that no matter what homophobic people say, it's who I am.

I call myself a fag because my uncle used to use it as a slur against who I was as a person, so I took that word back, and didn't let it hurt me anymore.

I feel like everyone has their reasons on why they do not like those words, and I respect that, but all I ask is you respect why I use them with such pride. I am a proud queer/fag/pan female. I love who I am and I will not let anyone use words to hurt me ever again.
